Clear as a textbook but far from dry. Best read with other naval studies at hand, because the little-known subject seldom fills little holes in familiar stories such as Jutland & Gallipoli. Since the British Empire enjoyed naval supremacy, it receives the lion's share, but Layman also covers the other warring nations in proportion to their contribution.
