FIVE MASON KING STARS.

"Love is a madness I will willingly accept if he's the one pulling me under."

description

Author J Daniels never fails to blow me away. In fact I love her books so much that I find myself slightly concerned at what will happen if she ever decides to stop doing what she does best. But for now I can be rest assured that one of my favourite of all time authors continues to produce fantastically erotic romance books for me to fall in love with over and over and over again. How do I start to tell you about my journey with this story? I've been waiting for what seems like forever for Author J to create a story about Brooke Wicks. This heroine is one who will own your attention from the first time that you meet her and as for her male counterpart, I'm pretty sure that Mason King will soon be breaking hearts all over goodreads. (In the best kind of way possible). If you are in the mood for a hero that will sweep you off your feet and a heroine that will knock your socks off then readers you don't need to look any further because Author J daniels has produced yet another ridiculously amazing addition to her sweet series. Be prepared to fall in love epic cupcake style and get yourself ready to add another favourite to your J daniels shelf.

What's it all about?
Brooke wicks would admit she's not like other girls, she's always on the look out for a good time and is happy to play the field. Never once stopping to think about settling down and getting involved in a serious relationship Brooke is more than happy with her life, enjoying her job and surrounded by the best friends a girl could ever wish for. As soon as Mason King claps eyes on the girl who works opposite his new business venture he's more than ready to start the journey in winning her over. Mason is not interested in a short term fling but he is definitely ready to fight for something more. Throw into the mix a big case of opposites attract, one heroine who is allergic to commitment and a hero that is ready to make her his and you are left with an epic showdown of romance and lust.

description

What did I love?
'Sweet obsession' was one of those books that I didn't fall in love with instantly, but there was no doubting that by the end I was so won over by this authors writing talent that it was a little ridiculous with how in love I actually was with these characters. One of the things that I admired most about this story was its originality, instead of a sweet heroine we are given a hero with a golden heart and in place of a manwhore we are presented with the best kind of man eater, Miss Brooke wilks. Author J does a fabulous job of highlighting a role reversal of the sexes and she could not have mapped it out any better. Quirky, hilarious and some of the most inventive sex scenes I think I've ever come across (pun intended) Author J deserves brownie points for just her provocative imagination alone. I think this book provides a bit of everything that I love about this genre; Hilarious scenes, swoon worthy character interaction, a slow build connection, low on the angst factor and plenty of inventive orgasms. But most of all what made me want to shout out from the rooftops at this authors obvious talent was her character continuity. Both characters stayed true to their personalities throughout and I loved every minute of reading about them falling into lust then inevitably heart warming love. Brooke and Mason's love story was bloody gorgeous and I couldn't have asked for more of a perfect plot for this crazy twosome.

description

Final thoughts ...
I couldn't adore this author anymore than I already do, her writing style is flawless and her characters are simply the best. J Daniels is always surprising me with her fantastic romance stories and never lets me down with her added insane ability to pack more than a punch with her erotic bedtime action. Fans of this series are going to fall so hard in love with Mason and Brooke I can hardly wait for this book to go live. Bravo Daniels you've nailed it once again, and I'm now firmly in love with yet another of your gorgeous heroes; Mason King can teach me yoga anytime of the day. Go grab it on release day readers, enjoy ... Kisses.

4-4.5 stars!

 photo BCC6195C-C95B-4645-8E2E-D728A05B41C3_zpsqa3ukawa.jpg

Brooke is one of those characters I wasn’t sure about when I read the first two books in this series. Honestly, I wasn’t sure I wanted to read her book. Then I heard our favorite Aussie yoga instructor from the Bama series was the leading man and I had to jump in! I am so glad I did! I was shocked with how much I loved her!

Mason was amazing but Brooke was the star of the show! She’s had a bit of a change of heart after working for Dylan for a few years and becoming friends with Joey and Billy, but she’s still her blunt and bitchy self. Now, she cares about other people and not just her self. One thing hasn’t changed about Brooke- she doesn’t do commitment or relationships. She has sex and that’s about it. Then she meets Mason who doesn’t want ‘just sex’ with her. He wants to be her friend. He wants MORE.

 photo 0BADCA69-8EC3-4B6C-B5F2-D156CD7661A2_zpsupenu2ex.jpg

I LOVED the role reversal here! It was almost like the normal male and female roles were completely switched. You have the MAN wanting more, wanting the commitment and the relationship and you have the FEMALE who is just in it for the sex but ends up considering changing her ways for that one special person. Way to change up the stereotypes!

Mason doesn’t push Brooke too hard, but he does try to get to know her. He wants to be her friend. To be her everything. She does, however, constantly push him for more physically. And she makes it very hard to say no. But Mason stands his ground. He won’t settle for anything less than all of it from Brooke.

 photo A34D80BE-135F-4263-AC5C-EA249AFCEFF3_zpsq7snjqlz.jpg

J. Daniels is an author who knows how to bring the laughs and the steaminess. Sweet Obsession was full of both! I adored Mason and Brooke together and Daniels managed to take a character who was hard to like and turn her into to one I loved! This was a great addition to the Sweet Addiction series but CAN be read as a standalone. P.S. J. Daniels… if you’re reading this… I’m gonna need that JOEY BOOK STAT!!!!!

Title: Sweet Obsession
Series: Sweet Addiction #3
Author: J. Daniels
Release date: September 22, 2015
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

There aren't too many authors that I can say give me a positive reading experience every single time. The odds of that are extremely low and I could probably count on one hand the authors that deliver the goods with every new release. J. Daniels is one of them. When I pick up one of her books, I know that I'm going to receive the following things:

Pages brimming with delicious naughty behavior
An addiction to those pages that prevents me from setting the book down
Memorable stories that (without fail) I always want more of
Characters that make me laugh with their outrageousness

That recipe concocts a feast that I gorge on and leaves me pleasantly sated. This book was especially fun and even more exciting to get my hands on. Why? Sweet Obsession is a crossover book that joins characters from both of her series, the Alabama Summer series and the Sweet Addiction series. Getting to visit characters from both of these in one book? Win-win situation here. If that weren't enough...It's Brooke. And Mason. Could there be a more perfect pair?

Genius move, Jessica-I was positively twitching to posess Sweet Obsession. I'm not even pretending that I was remotely calm about it.

Brooke Wicks is a girl after my own heart. When I heard she was getting her own book I just knew that this would most likely be one of my favorite J. Daniels stories. She's exactly the type of heroine I go for. Bold. Mouthy. And completely and totally confident in her sense of self. Truth? She's utterly shameless, but I wouldn't have her any other way. She's a girl who doesn't wait for a man to pursue her. She sees what she wants, takes it with both hands and moves on. One and done-that's her motto.

When Mason opens his hot yoga studio across the street from the bakery where she works, she targets him immediately. Waltzes right over there and offers herself to him on a platter. Because after one glance at his hard body, she knows he has the goods to show a girl a good time. But after he opened his mouth and his hot Australian accent spilled out? Game over. He might as well concede defeat because she was determined to get a piece of that. To her surprise, Mason wasn't biting. He was too smart for that, but that's not to say he wasn't tempted by the little devil.

Drop my shorts, right here? No, obviously I wouldn't, but fuck if I don't want to maybe pull her inside and shock her a little. Show off my cock to a woman who looks like she's ready to eat me alive.

Brooke was bewildered and appalled at his repeated refusal. But that was perhaps what made the situation even funnier. Her inner thoughts made me laugh so many times. She takes audacious to a whole new level.

He was seriously leaving? No...no, that's impossible. He can't just leave. Hello! Massive Erection! Get back here! I'm supposed to be handling you!

The push and pull was constant between these two characters. It was a war of wills, and with two equally determined people up against each other it was entertaining to say the least. What was so refreshing to me was the role reversal in the typical male/female behavior. With the hero withholding his body from the heroine in the hope of gaining a deeper relationship and the heroine being against commitment, it was a unique twist that made for some quality reading.

This book is all about the tease. Those moments of anticipation and unfulfilled need that draw out that leave you gasping for satisfaction.

"Mason," she moans as I bend and kiss her cheek. My mouth moves to her ear.
"I could fuck you right now, up against this brick wall while anyone could walk by us. Would you like that? Would you come for me?"

There were so many things to love about Mason, but what I especially loved was the fact that he saw through her bullshit. Underneath that hard shell she shows the world is a woman who takes pride in herself, loves and protects her friends, and makes him feel like he conquered the world when she gives him a soft smile. That soft core that she doesn't show to many is more valued by him because of it's infrequent appearance.

For the first time, a man takes the time to dig into what makes Brooke Wicks tick. He slowly seduces her into giving her true self to him and I found that so beautiful. His denial of his own personal pleasure in the pursuit of Brooke was admirably self sacrificing. And again, not something you see everyday in romance.

My infatuation with her started out as an idea. A glimpse of a woman I wanted to know and understand. A delightful interest. But the more time I spend with her, the more desperate I feel.
To have her. To keep her.

Of course all of that sexual tension finally exploding was one hell of a finely executed scene. It. Was. Delicious.

As much as I loved this one, there was something holding me back from giving it a full five stars. The more time I spent thinking about it the more the question kept appearing in my mind. Why is Brooke the way she is? Why is she not just commitment shy but a clear cut commitment 'phobe? Because it wasn't just that she preferred to keep things casual with men. She was literally terrified of getting close to a man. The thought gave her panic attacks and kept her from allowing a good man into her life through repeated examples of honesty and support of her. I wanted to know what motivated that mindset and it never really got addressed to my liking. But overall, I was thrilled with Brooke and Mason's story. I was more than worth the wait-I wanted to savor every moment.

I can't say enough about this author. She has quickly skyrocketed up to the top of my favorite author list and I don't see her ever leaving. With each book, the writing improves like fine wine. If you haven't read anything by her yet, it's time to see what you've been missing.

4 Obsessive Stars,

Brooke loves enjoying life and having a good time. She loves flirting, sex but what she doesn’t enjoy are relationships. She has what you could call commitment issues.
Mason is looking for a new life and opening his gym in Chicago seems like the best way to do it, and he’s even surer about it when he meets the sexy baker that works across the street. What he wasn’t expecting was the tables turning and he has to be the one to convince her to have something real, and not only sex.
So in a way of trying to keep her interested he refuses to give her what she wants until she realizes that there’s more than just lust between them… but in this battle of wits who will be the first one to surrender?

This was a sweet, hilarious and steamy reading with a great couple. (Believe me, for a hero where the hero is withholding sex this is a really sexy book…)
Once again, J. Daniels didn’t disappointed and delivered a heartwarming book that made me laugh and swoon from the very first page until the last, with the certain amount of drama to keep me in my toes.
If you like this series (or the Alabama series) this jointed book that crosses the best of both worlds, is definitely a series that you can’t miss.

Characters Development: Brooke was the hilarious badass that he were used from the previous books. She was an easy heroine to like with her “don’t give a f*ck” attitude. Mason was amazing, also like he has been before, he was sweet and caring and I loved how he dealt with Brooke’s crazy personality. It was amazing to see more of the gang especially Joey!! We really need a book about him!!

With a strangled cry, we fall, words and moans blending into the night. It's hot and filthy, and so profoundly intimate...

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with all things J. Daniels (see what I did there?) and for damn good reason too. The woman never fails to serve up a hero that is guaranteed to make me pant and drool over. Ever since Mason was first introduced in All I Want, I've been obsessively stalking patiently waiting for his book. Can you blame me? He's a sex on a stick Aussie, yeah?

Now here's the thing, I'm one of those, what do you call it? Heroine haters. Yep. I'm a picky bitch when it comes to them and I'm not sorry. So when J gave me a heroine with no sexual inhibitions that has no qualms about getting what she wants and makes no excuses or apologies for it? Oh I am beyond sold. In a world of virgins, Brooke was a breath of fresh air.
When was your last actual boyfriend, Brooke? College?"
"High school...I played the field in college. Literally. I think I was one defender short of bedding the entire lacrosse team.

Between her inner monologue and banter with Joey, Billy and Dylan, Sweet Obsession brought some major LOLs which is what I've come to associate with this author. She just has this perfect combination of sweet and sexy with laugh out loud funny. I can't get enough of it.

Brooke is not about the boyfriend thing. She's gets what she needs and she moves on, until a certain yoga instructor sets up a studio across from the bakery she works at and tilts her world upside down.

Mason isn't about playing the field. He moved all the way to Chicago to follow his dream of owning his yoga studio and he doesn't want a meaningless one night stand. When a gorgeous brunette unashamedly flirts with him, he knows he wants her....but on his terms. He wants a connection and a relationship and he'll settle for nothing else and so he sets about doing just that. What follows is some of the most painful sexual frustration that I have ever felt in my life. I'm talking blue ovaries kind of pain here, people! But man did it hurt so good. I love the way the author stayed true to her characters and their relationship by really making that sexual tension burn. She didn't throw them into bed together right away and I thoroughly appreciated it. I loved watching Mason slowly and systematically break down all of Brooke's barriers and carefully constructed walls. It was utterly delicious, even if I did feel like my poor ovaries may combust in the process. It was certainly worth the wait.
I want to absorb him, every flavor of Mason. His sweetness and his ferocity. The gentle planes and sharp, savage angles of his passion.

I loved pretty much everything about this book. And J saves a special treat for Sweet Addiction fans at the end that you'll MORE than appreciate. It was like the cherry on top. So good.

What I've come to love about her writing is her consistency. Her book ALWAYS deliver on their deliciously sexy promise AND they only get better with each new book. It's not often you'll read an author whose craft actually gets better and you can see the growth with every book. Having read her entire backlist, I can truly attest to that. The woman rocks my socks.

My only minor quibble is I did wish for a little more explanation on Brooke's commitment phobia. While I can understand her hit 'em and quit 'em policy, it seemed like there should be a reason that the mere thought of a relationship and utter of the word 'boyfriend' sends her to the local liquor store in a panic would need some sort of reason. But that's just me being the picky bitch that I am. Perhaps that would have also better explained the major conflict at the end as well. As it was I felt it kind of came out of left field for me But that was mainly a blimp on the perfection of the book as a whole, so I barely batted an eyelash at it.

I enjoyed the absolute fuck out of this book. I couldn't put it down. It made me laugh, it made me swoon, and as always it left me wanting even more. If you haven't discovered this fabulous author yet, she needs to be on your must read. Sweet Obsession is a book you don't want to miss ;)

I've been looking forward to reading Sweet Obsession for a while now, if it wasn't the pretty pink cover that drew me in it was the promise of a man-eater called Brooke and an Aussie hunk called Mason who was on the search for 'more.'

Mason King having recently moved away from his friends and life in Alabama, is nervous about opening his hot yoga studio in Chicago, so when a beautiful lady with balls of steel comes strolling over to introduce herself, he finds himself easily distracted.

Brooke Wicks works at the bakery across the street, decorating cakes and making pastries. She loves her job and she loves sex. Simple. She doesn't believe in wasting time and when a man captures her attention she goes for it, gets the job done and then moves onto the next. She is a modern and independent woman who is also very likeable.

Brooke decides she wants Mason, I mean who wouldn't, he is a gorgeous and funny guy who appreciates the opposite sex as much as the next man, but Mason wants something more substantial than a one night stand and thus tries to convince Brooke to go on dates with him and that they should get to know each other first.

"It's so much better, Brooke. I want you to really feel me. I don't just want a hard fuck in an alley and then nothing. I can't do that."

Brooke is almost horrified at the thought, she's never really met a man that didn't want to put out on the first date, but Mason is determined to show Brooke that what he has to offer is more than a quick roll in the hay and he did a damn fine job of it in my opinion.

There was oozes of sexual tension, and that was what I loved most about this book. It is a very character driven story and I loved spending time with them and seeing their relationship evolve. One of my favourite things about reading the romance genre is to watch two people slowly fall in love with each other against their wishes and Sweet Obsession didn't disappoint in the least.

Bravo J. Daniels, it was a truly delicious story.

This is part 3 in the Sweet Addiction series, but can be read as a Standalone. Told in dual POV.

ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

Brooke isn’t like most girls. She isn’t after hearts and flowers or romance, nope she only looking for a good time. Brooke is fun, loud, and real. Brooke is my type of person, she doesn’t care if you like her, she is still going to be her. When I first met Brooke in Sweet Addiction she was more annoying and frustrating, but I have grown to love her. After reading Sweet Obsession, I love her even more.

Mason has just moved to Chicago to open up a yoga studio. On day one he meets Brooke and is immediately captivated by her. Brooke comes on crazy strong and lays down a lot of innuendo, but Mason isn’t picking it up. He is very interested in Brooke, but wants more than just one night. He want to get to know her and see if there is a real connection.

Sweet Obsession flips the script on your typical stories. More often than not we see the playboy who is only after sex and the sweet girl who will do anything to change his playboy ways. I loved seeing the reverse. Mason is the sweet, almost perfect guy who is hellbent on dating Brooke. Mason is seriously this fantastic character, I actually loved him. He is kind, generous, sexy and dirty talker. I love me a dirty talker and Mason is just more. Top it all off he surrounded by women who are constantly throwing themselves at him, but he only wants Brooke.

I’m completely and absolutely in love with you and your little ‘yeahs.’

Brooke and Mason together are fun, sexy and sweet. I loved seeing these two fall in love. It was gradual and Brooke was definitely resistant, but Mason wasn’t giving up. These two perfectly balance each other out. I loved how Mason was just what Brooke needed. This book had some serious 5 star moments, but towards the end I lost my focus. I don’t love unnecessary drama and I felt like there some. Was it enough to ruin the book, ABSOLUTELY NOT! I just wish things hadn’t taken that direction, but that’s just me.

I think there is a story for all occasions or moods, and this story was the perfect read for me. I loved the dirty talking and build up between Mason and Brooke. I loved the flirting and watching real feelings develop. I loved seeing the character growth and seeing them change. I really loved seeing Brooke vulnerable. Sweet Obsession is a fantastic read, I highly recommend it.

You made falling in love with you so easy, I didn’t realize I was doing it until it was too late.

"You are loved, Brooke Wicks. My adoration for you is endless."

J. Daniels once again manages to steal my heart with her sassy writing and her ability to create amazing characters. Be prepared because Brooke Wicks will become your favorite heroine and Mason King will steal your heart.

Brooke Wicks. I love this woman. She's on my top favorite heroines list. We were first introduced to her in Sweet Addiction very briefly before getting to know her really well in Sweet Possession. She's this sassy, outspoken, bold, confident woman who owns her sexuality and isn't afraid to go for what she wants. But the beauty of it all is that underneath all of that she has her insecurities, as well as her doubts and her fears. She doesn't do the whole relationship with guys or go out on dates. She'd much rather have one night stands but that changes the moment she meets Mason King.

"I want him to want me so badly he can't remember anyone before. I want him to distract me so I'm not completely terrified of what this is or what it's becoming.
I don't want to think. I just want to feel. His hands. His mouth. The wild pace of his heart."

Mason King. Oh my sweet Aussie. This man is perfection. From start to finish he captured and owned my heart. He's now one of my top favorite heroes. Mason will melt your panties with his accent alone (Seriously, there is no need for wearing panties around him. He should come with a pantie less warning) but it's his smile, blue eyes, and sweet personality that will have you saying "I'm done. He owns me. MINE."
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Now to get back on track, Mason wasn't afraid to pull Brooke out of her comfort zone. He wanted more in their quirky relationship . He wanted it all. From friendship and coffee dates to breakfast and occasional lunch dates, he will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Even withhold sex from Brooke, which only makes her frustrated and the situation rather funny.

"Fuck, I love her playful like this. Completely unaware of how open she is to me. It's beautiful, her unguarded heart. I like to imagine it's untouched as well."

Brooke and Mason couldn't be more perfect for one another. Together these two had every element needed to create fireworks . He saw through her BS and he opened her up to new adventures and feelings. What was even more special was their banter. It was sweet and flirtatious, and intense and beautiful to watch these two complete opposites fall in love. And that moment when they finally give into each other and all the sexual tension explodes; it's one hot and epic scene #pantiesgone
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"And in that moment, my life becomes profoundly simple, consisting of only one person.
Brooke."

But wait a minute the epic-ness of J. Daniels is that she takes every opportunity to include all her secondary characters in the mix. We had a lot of Jojo moments that will make you want to protest in hopes of him getting his own book. And we can't forget our two beloved characters who started the series off with a bang: Dylan and Reese. Love them and love revisiting them even more!!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"I want to absorb him, every flavor of Mason. His sweetness and his ferocity. The gentle planes and sharp, savage angles of his passion."

I can't say enough about this author's writing and this author's books! With everything she writes it's always bound to make me laugh or cry and fall madly in love . This book was refreshing with a unique twist that had me savoring every moment. If you haven't read a book by J. Daniels, you haven't lived!

"Mason is my wild card. He's that unexpected storm that hits when you're outside on a beautiful day, and at first you don't want it. You were enjoying the sun and the heat on your skin. That's what makes you happy. Then the sky darkens and the temperature drops a little, and you think 'okay, this breeze is nice'. You wait it out, thinking it'll pass, but the rain starts to fall. The first drop hits your shoulder. Another soaks into your hair. It startles you, but it feels good. You were too hot anyway. Then before you know it, it's pouring, saturating your clothes and pooling on the earth. A giggle bubbles in your throat. Where is this coming from? It's so sudden and surprising, and in a matter of seconds, you're drenched from head to toe. Your beautiful day is ruined, and you can't stop laughing.
You can't stop laughing."

4 'With You' Stars!

J. Daniels is really after my heart! She definitely stole it with this wonderful series and she did not fail with the last book, that's for sure! I really enjoyed Brooke and Mason's love story (even though Dylan and Reese are still my faves!! lol): it was funny, it was hot and it was emotional! Everything happening at the end of the book had me at the edge of my seat and that's always a great sign!

As I mentioned before, definitely recommend the Sweet Addiction series. You do not want to miss meeting all these wonderful characters!

4.5 Mason STARS

I enjoyed this although, I'll admit, I had a bit of difficulty with the female voice...this was an audiobook...but from the very first word utter by the male voice, all reservations went out the window (along with my panties). Just one word for you...Aussie!

Like Mason King, the hero in the book, the male voice was Australian. And with that, I could totally work around any hang ups I had with the female voice.

I enjoyed Brooke and Mason's story, which I'd give 4 stars, the extra star is for the one delectable chapter in Joey's POV. YEESSS!!! Damn, I loved it!

Some things you can’t come back from.
The hero had EXTREME double standards that he cloaked well with his “I’m a modern aged respectful man therefore can’t be misogynist”.

He clearly had his share of debauchery when he was young. He’s been ready to settle for a while. He almost settled with another woman, he traveled to another country to be with her. Now just because HE is ready heroine should be ready too?

Heroine shouldn’t pursue him unless she CAN give him what he wants? So she clearly was ok with testing things and if he’s not ok with that he shouldn’t be part of this whole thing. Period. Heroine never promised him forever. He was relentless yet it appeared to me that HE was the commitmentphobic one and was looking for an out all along that would let him not only blame the heroine but also let him call her a whore and slut shame her without feeling like a oppressor because he’s clearly the victim now. The slut shaming is now justified.

I didn’t think his reaction was abnormal, anyone finding a sex tape of their loved one wouldn’t act kindly. However. His first ACTION? HE ACCUSED HER OF CHEATING. There is no coming back from that. And heroine pretty much demanded an apology straightaway which had zero effect on him.
Then he treated the heroine like a whore. And came the slut shaming and asked the heroine if she said ILY just to take him to bed. She asked him what he thought. He confirmed he thought she did, and then later he complained she said she hates him? What was she to do?

He claims he didn’t mean a single thing he said yet he was absolutely hell bent on believing that she hates him based on what she said when she was upset when he called her a whore? Why is his feelings more important than her? And this is a guy who has repeatedly said ILY to OW in past. A woman he has uprooted his life for, yet heroine confirmed she has NEVER said those words to anyone.
I was surprised at the gay best friend for not calling this POS out when he told him why the heroine would be miserable as she hates him, she said so.
My question would have been “so you believe my friend is a cheater and a whore? You said so”. WHY are louse like this NEVER called out, because I have done it and trust me, it works so much better than fancy words because he didn’t deserve compassion.

What he did, didn’t deserve second chance. He was a louse. I am not saying his reaction to sex tape would be unforgivable, but the actions were. If he couldn’t get past it, and broke up with her, I’d have rooted for him. That’s ok. You can’t expect someone to easily get past watching their loved one having sex with someone else. I have been there. NOT easy. Even if it’s something before your time. But, he didn’t want to end it with her, he wanted to slut shame her, this was his perfect weapon which he didn’t have before. He wants to belittle her and break her for having an exact similar life to him, which he had no right for.

He knew she had a past. HE had a past with a woman whom he was in love with. For all purpose and intent heroine was the second best. So he can go fuck himself on his moral high ground.

4.5 Sexy Aussie stars, yeah??

Firstly, HUGE thanks to J. Daniels for gifting me an ARC to read!

I've been a big J. Daniels fan for awhile now and the Sweet Series is one of my favorite series to date. We kicked off the series with Dylan and sweet, Sweet Reese. Now it's Brooke's turn. Brooke is this sexy and fierce baker; a no nonsense, get in and get out kinda girl. Mason is polar opposite. He is one seriously hot Aussie who owns "Hot Yoga" right across the street from the bakery. Mason is adorably sweet. He doesn't do meaningless hookups, he wants it all. Love, friendship, the whole shebang, and he wants it with Brooke.

Oh and did I mention that Mason is from the Alabama Summer series?? Yep, that's right a bit of a crossover between these two amazing series! And I for one am insanely happy about this.

I loved the role reversal in this book! So refreshing from the common "man is a slut, man changes his ways for girl, man and girl live HEA" scenario.

Author J. Daniels is the master of laughs and sexy times in my book. Humor is always greatly appreciated when the book is primarily based around sex. And she never fails to deliver in the steam department either. She always throws in some unique scenarios, ahem.... Photo booth anyone??

If you've read the previous Sweet books, Sweet Obsession is a must!! Of course it can be read as a stand alone but I always strongly encourage people to read the previous books beforehand to really get an understanding of the characters. And if you haven't read any of J. Daniels work, you're only hurting yourself :) do yourself a favor and start now!

Sweet Addiction was my very first taste of erotica. The combination of baking and sex, sugar and spice made it the perfect introduction to the genre, and I jokingly blame J. Daniels for corrupting my sweet, innocent mind. I quickly gobbled up the second book, Sweet Possession, and I was sad to say goodbye to the quirky cast of characters I’d grown so fond of. So when I found out that man crazy Brooke was getting her very own book, I was beyond excited. J. Daniels crossing over characters from her Alabama Summer series? It was just icing on the cake.
I’m Brooke Wicks, and I love sex. A lot of it. I don’t see any problem with my hit it and quit it philosophy. I’m doing what I want with the men I want to do it with. Period.
That pretty much sums up Brooke’s no muss, no fuss outlook on dating. She’s a grab-life-by-the-balls, take-no-prisoners kind of woman and it works for her. She has a job that she loves, great friends, confidence to spare, and regular – if not always memorable – sex.

If you’ve read All I Want then you may remember Mason as Mia and Tessa’s super hot Aussie yoga instructor. When Mason moves from Alabama to Chicago, he opens his hot yoga studio across the street from the bakery where Brooke works. As soon as Brooke lays eyes on Mason’s fine physique, she wastes no time making her move. Operation Get Brooke Some is in full effect. I swear I could hear Hall and Oates’ “Maneater” playing in the background. I almost felt sorry for the man, but it turns out Mason has the willpower of a saint. Although he is incredibly attracted to Brooke, he doesn’t do meaningless sex anymore. Mason wants a chance to get to know her first.
“I could fuck you right now, up against this brick wall while anyone could walk by us. Would you like that? Would you come for me? It would be amazing, and I want that, I do, but my way, which involves feelings and knowing someone, trust me…it’s better. It’s so much better, Brooke. I want you to really feel me. I don’t just want a hard fuck in an alley and then nothing. I can’t do that.”
Mason convinces Brooke to try things his way. And, let’s face it, being Australian and with that accent – it’s kind of like her Kryptonite.
Do all Australians smell this good? Like sunshine and impending orgasms. Mercy.
It’s a bit of a power struggle throughout. As difficult as it is for him, Mason wants to slow things down, but Brooke is a little temptress who tries to race toward the sexual finish line at every turn.

J. Daniels has been known to write some really hot erotica (I’m looking at you, When I Fall), but with this book she turned up the heat 500º! Mason is such a nice guy but he is one filthy boy and his dirty talking skills are on point! It comes as no surprise that Brooke is naughty. Put the two of them together and you have some of the most explosive and creative – yes, creative – sex scenes I’ve encountered in recent memory. I’ve said it before. There’s an art to writing a good sex scene. J. Daniels is very skilled at writing highly erotic scenes and let’s just say she finds ways to be inventive so the reader is never bored.

Where the story falls short for me is in Brooke’s character development. The reason for her aversion to relationships is never explored. I know she likes sex but why does she sleep with so many men – and virtual strangers at that? When and how did it start? The subject isn’t addressed and her character lacks depth as a result. While Brooke is funny and sexually adventurous, she’s incredibly weepy. At times I wondered what made her so appealing to Mason. Mason, on the other hand, is the complete package in terms of book boyfriends. Perhaps he gets attached too easily, but he’s always honest with his feelings and when he loves, he loves with his whole heart.

This book can easily be read as a standalone, but fans of the series will be happy to know that Joey, Billy, and Dylan return as supporting characters. Tessa from the Alabama Summer series even turns up and makes a brief appearance.

The story is told from both Brooke’s and Mason’s points of view; however, my favorite chapter is the one told from Joey’s perspective. He’s always been a showstopper, scene-stealing character and this chapter gives him a chance to let his hilarious freak flag fly.

All in all, Sweet Obsession is a great addition to the Sweet Addiction series.

“You are loved, Brooke Wicks. My adoration for you is endless.”

Well this was fun !

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, A player meets a nice girl, he’s fighting his feelings for her but eventually gives in and she changes his ways and so they live happily ever after :D !
Well, this book was kinda like that except, the player was Brooke ,, and the nice person (Obviously not girl :D) was Mason !

We’ve met Mason in the Alabama series, he’s a hot Aussie yoga instructor with a golden heart! He just moved to Chicago to open his own yoga studio. He’s right across the street from the bakery that Brooke works in.
Brooke is a 25-year-old wild & confident woman, She likes sex and likes who she is and doesn’t make apologizes for it. She’s currently living with her gay friends (partners) Joey and Billy.

When Brooke sees Mason down the street, she’s struck by how handsome he is, she sets her sights on him and goes to “say hi” and welcome him to the neighborhood, cupcakes in hand. What she doesn’t expect though is that Mason isn’t like any other man she’s ever met before, he felt an instant connection to her, and refuses to give her the ONS she thinks she’s after, and want her to do things his way. He wants to get to know her and spend time with her outside the bedroom. And the more Brooke tries to seduce him, the more Mason is adamant about making her feel first..

“Brooke. I want you to really feel me. I don’t just want a hard fuck in an alley and then nothing. I can’t do that”
“I want more than that.” My hand slides higher on her waist, fitting to her curves. “Give me more.”

This one is definitely a case of instalust, their immediate chemistry is undeniable. But it wasn’t just instalust, I think they both had an instalove moment, which Mason recognized so much faster than Brooke did, that’s why he knew if he gave her what she wanted immediately, he’ll lose her just as fast. I think they were both chasing each other, Mason chasing her emotionally and Brooke chasing him sexually.

I gotta say though, as much as I wanted Brooke to get a grip sometimes, I can’t fault her for wanting him. I mean Mason was apparently too hot to be real, had an Aussie accent, speaks fluent italian, with an amazing heart and manners AND a filthy mouth to boot! So yeah,, I kinda get the appeal LOL! But I did love Mason’s restraint, he never left her unsatisfied but always left her wanting more. He was the perfect man to handle her. He was the perfect man period. The guy can make you melt with his sweet words & actions in a second and then blush with how freakin’ hot he is the next. :D !

“And in that moment, my life becomes profoundly simple, consisting of only one person.
Brooke.”
“I’m yours. My body, my soul. All of my time is yours.”

Not to say that I didn’t like Brooke because I did, at first I wasn’t warming to her too quickly and didn’t get Mason’s obsession with her, but I did eventually root for her too, I liked when she showed vulnerbility to him, not to mention, she was quite funny :D !

"He makes me laugh. A lot. The only other time men I’ve been interested in have made me laugh in the past is when they’ve dropped their pants"

The only thing that was missing, was that I wanted to know more of what made Brooke Brooke, I didn’t expect a dark past or anything, just a reason on her stand on relationships, because she didn’t just have an aversion to them, she flat out had panic attacks every time she came close to feeling anything! Which sometimes got on my nerves because I just didn’t understand her well enough to identify with her feelings, but Mason apparently did, most of the time he knew just what to say or do and was extremely patient with her because he knew that even though she seemed to be all sexually confident - which I felt was a defense mechanism for her against feeling anything -, her heart was always guarded and was more vulnerable than most.

“No one has ever had Brooke the way I have. No one ever came close.”

Overall, I loved them together, they were HOT, I loved their sweet moments just as much as the wild ones. So if you’re looking for a fun sweet and romantic book with steam, then this one is for you ;)

Guys, I just figured out something very important. And I'm so sorry it took me this long to get it. The Mason that Brooke falls in love with in this book, is the same Mason that is the Alabama summer series, on the second book, he goes out on a date with Tessa, and the only reason I figured that out it was because I am re-reading the Alabama Summer series. I am so happy about this discovery.
I mean some of you might already know about it, but here I am all jumping around like a bunny that just found a carrot to eat.
I am glad he got to meet Brooke, and well shattered her world in this book. I am happy for both of them, and I also love how J. Daniels brought back to this book, like that was super cool.
Okay... I'm leaving now. I just really wanted to say that

Full Review on Brianna's Bookish Confessions.

If you guys follow me on some platform- Instagram, Goodreads, here on my blog or even Twitter, you’ll know how obsessed I have become over J. Daniels books. I read Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession early this year and immediately fell in love!

I’ve been dying for Brooke’s book since I read the original 2 Sweet books early this year. At first, I wasn’t a big fan when she was introduced, but she quickly became one of my favorites in Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession. I knew her story was going to be tough for her considering her character. Brooke works at Dylan’s Sweet Tooth (A.K.A. Dylan the girl who Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession follows) making cupcakes. Not only does she love working there, she also loves sex. She doesn’t waste time getting what she wants, she goes after them as soon as they notice her.

Mason King has moved to Chicago to open up his own yoga studio. Ohh, did I mention hot yoga? :) Dylan’s Sweet Tooth happens to be right across the street from Mason’s studio and Brooke comes in to introduce herself. She’s only in for one thing, and that is sex with Mason King. Mason doesn’t just want sex with her, so he tries to convince her to go out on dates.

I loved when Mason was introduced in Bama Boys. At that point, I already knew he was getting a story so I was already excited. But to see them together in this story combining both series, I adored it. I love that we got to see some of the Bama characters in this! I love how this played out and I will be honest… I wanted to strangle both characters come the 88-90% percent mark.

I love that this was very character driven. It wasn’t based upon the sexual tension between Mason and Brooke. Let me tell you, there’s A LOT of it going on for sure. But I loved that we got to see more of their characters and the relationship that came out of it. This is also a big reason why I love J. Daniels books. Not only does she write about extremely sexy, swoon-worthy men that can’t possibly be real, she develops the characters so beautifully! I always fall in love with all her characters!!

I highly, highly recommend this book! That, and all her books. This is a stand-alone, however it continues after Dylan’s story, so if you haven’t read her books, you will be spoiled in what happens for hers.

Review on BadAndDirtyBooks

When I read a J. Daniels book I usually get giddy, happy and a warm feeling inside. She always makes me feel something. And Sweet Obsession was no exception. This was one of those books. Just from reading the first chapter I was ecstatic. It was great to be back in her universe but also with her characters from the Alabama and Sweet Addiction/Possession series. I felt like I was part of the gang with all their shared history.

Holy crap I just thought Brooke was such a great lead character in this book. She's also in the two books Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession. I just loved her honesty about who she is and what she wants. She's not interested in a relationship. It's strictly sex for her. Doesn't let anybody close. Except her sister Juls, their mutual friends Joey, his husband Billy and her employer Dylan. But Brooke's demeanor changes, when the hot Aussie Mason shows up.

"We stand there for several minutes. My head never moves. His arms never leave me. It's soothing, the constant pressure of his hold, and somehow it feels strangely familiar. Like he's held me like this for years. Like I've known him my entire life, and in the moments when I've needed someone to be with me like this, it's always been him".

I don't know what to say about Mason except that I love him. What a man! I could hear his accent through J. Daniels' written words. Especially his "yeah" had me sold. He's the totally opposite of Brooke. He's not interested in a one night stand and wants/seeks a connection with a woman. Mason is very persistent when it comes to Brooke. She doesn't get her way easily. He tries really hard to woo Brooke and shows her what romance and friendship is all about. I loved that whole courtship between the two of them.

When they finally get together sparks fly. Literally!! Their connection was so strong and their sex scenes spot on. Really hot and in their spirit. Free and fun.
Even though this book primarily is about Brooke and Mason, I loved how I got to know more about the other characters as well. They are just as important as the lead characters.

That's why J. Daniels is such a damn good author. I'm invested in all of her characters and their stories. I want and need more. This book was just an appetizer and I can't wait for what she cooks up next. Cause I'm not nearly satiated. I'm more obsessed and addicted.

I'm glad I only paid .99 for this. There was no point to this story. H falls instantly upon meeting. Girl didn't want a boyfriend and H wouldn't sleep with her until she liked him. This goes on for first 80%!!! of the book. Girl falls for him. Then they had fight and made up, the book ends. BORING!!!

Can J. Daniels books get any better? I mean seriously. I loved Sweet Obsession so much that it's possibly my 2nd favorite of her books!! I loved it more than SA AND I loved Sweet Addiction...AND...Almost more than All I Want--(AND I RUN A J.Daniels BAMA BOYS PAGE...DEAR GOD) but it's 100% true!

The storyline and the crossing/mixing of the two series (Sweet and Bama Boys) is absolutely perfect! The connection between Brooke and Mason is crazy hot! The storyline where the guy wants the girl isn't something we always read....I LOVED Mason chasing Brooke! I love that I fell for Brooke...because I told Jess I wasn't really a Brooke fan in SA or SP...so she would have to make me love her...AND I DO, I want to be Brooke, I to be girlfriends with her and I want her to be REAL.

I Love Jessica's writing. I truly can say she is one of my favorite authors. SHE IS ALWAYS 100% on point when she clicks publish!

Grab your copy NOW and read this amazing love story, yeah?

First of all, thank you so much J. for allowing me to read an ARC.
This book was perfection! Seriously, every book just keeps getting better and better. Brooke is definitely one of my favorite female characters now. Mason and Brooke are perfect for each other and their characters were so well written. I can't wait to have this book in my hands soon. :) Congrats Jessica on another amazing book. I'm so glad I discovered WIB early last summer and have had the pleasure of reading such amazing books!

I think I got a different book than all these five-star reviews..

There is a point the author tried to make with Brooke and I get it, double standards of the society we live in regarding sexuality..but a little subtlety never hurt anybody.. instead of being a heroine I relate and root for all I got is obnoxiousness and annoyance. And don't get me started on Mason and his hypocrite ass. His "I want it on my turns and you will give me that" attitude got boring pretty fast..

Brooke loves sex. As often as she can get it, from as many guys as she can get it from. She doesn't want romance, she doesn't want a relationship, she just wants orgasms, preferably in multiples. When she sees Mason for the first time standing out in front of his new yoga studio she decides right then and there that she's going to have sex with him, and soon. What she isn't prepared for is Mason to want to take things slow and get to know her first before giving her what she wants. But since he's built like a Greek God she figures she'll wait him out and give him what he wants since she's sure it'll be worth it.

So they start dating, which is a completely new concept to Brooke. After trying and failing to get him to have sex with her the first few times she actually starts enjoying spending time with him and isn't so upset about their 'no sex' policy. They're still physical with one another but it's always Mason giving her pleasure, never letting her return the favor. That makes her slightly uncomfortable because she's never had a guy care about just her, they always wanted something for themselves. Then again none of them were Mason, and he's definitely one in a million. He falls in love with her quickly and is just waiting for her to recognize the feelings she has for him. Their journey from just 'going out, to becoming BEST friends, to finally becoming intimate lovers was beautiful and heart-warming.

I got really upset at the end of the book and here's why. In any other book I've read where the man is the "whore", when his past comes back to bite him in the ass and cause trouble in his current relationship HE'S always the one that has to apologize and make amends for his past behavior. But in this book, when Brooke's whoring past encroaches onto their relationship and severely hurts Mason in a way that I don't even want to imagine ever feeling, SHE'S the one that's upset with HIM! HE is expected to apologize and grovel for her back when it's not his fault she was a whore. And there lies the problem- she doesn't see herself as a whore. But if it looks like a whore and acts like a whore.... I say if you want to live like that then go for it, but don't pretend to be something other than what you are. If you're a whore, own it. If she was uncomfortable with that word then maybe she needed to examine her actions more closely and consider what it was she was doing.

So even though I was unhappy for that split second, everything worked out in the end and I truly believe the days of sleeping around for Brooke are over. It wasn't easy for her to admit her feelings for Mason but I'm glad she did because he's going to make her the happiest woman on the planet. He treats her like a princess and if only he existed in real life, that girl would need to prepare for a fight because I'd be right there wanting him for myself!

*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

Sweet Obsession is the third in the Sweet Addiction series by J Daniels. I was excited to start Brooke Wicks story. I wasn’t a fan of hers after reading book one, but by the end of book 2 I had warmed to her and now after book 3 I love her.

"Love is a madness I will willingly accept if he's the one pulling me under”

Brooke likes the no-strings approach. Happy to have so fun and quick fling and then move on. No one has ever made her want more until she meets sexy Hot Yoga teacher Mason King. Mason was hooked from the first the moment he set eyes on Brooke he wants more than just fun, more than just a quick fling with no strings. He wants all of her! And he will pull out all the stops to show her that the “more” he is offering is the “more” that she wants to.

“I see you Brooke”……..“I want everything”

“I want him to distract me so I'm not completely terrified of what this is or what it's becoming. I don't want to think. I just want to feel. His hands. His mouth. The wild pace of his heart."

All I can say is you will love Mason King he has a heart of gold, and he has an accent and oh boy do I love an accent. He has those alpha qualities, but they are a little softer, and I like that about him. Love the way he makes Brooke feel, the way he wants to see the real her. The chemistry between Brooke and Mason is undeniable; Mason’s attraction to her is deep and their banter flirty, sexy, dirty, funny, and heartfelt.

“You are loved, Brooke Wicks. My adoration for you is endless”

"I want to absorb him, every flavour of Mason. His sweetness and his ferocity. The gentle planes and sharp, savage angles of his passion”

It was great catching up with Dylan, Reese, Juls, Ian, Joey and Billy. They are a great bunch. Getting an extra bit of Joey was a lovely surprise, and I loved seeing how his relationship with Brook has changed so much.

Overall did I love this book yeah, I did. J Daniels with Her fabulous writing has done it again. She pulled me in from the beginning and hooked me right till the end. Sweet Obsession has a great blend of sweet, sexy, funny, drama and angst moments. I smiled, laughed, swooned, and got teary. Love what J Daniels did with Brooke’s character she has matured so much from the first book and we get to see the real her.

Sweet Obsession could be read as a standalone, but you would be crazy not to read the first two books in the series, as both are great. You really should learn about and fall in love with the rest of the characters that are in this great series. So treat yourself to all three books now! You will not be disappointed.

Sweet Obsession is a laugh out loud, humorously priceless, sensually sweet, passionate, steamy read!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Mason King is an honorary sweetie. I swear when he was created, he was rolled in sugar and icing. This man melted my heart and sent a blazing flame throughout my body as he stole a piece of my soul with his sweet girls, little devils, and yeah's?. He is every freaking thing!! Persistent, head strong, and willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants.

And he wants her. Brooke Wicks.

Brooke is everything I thought she would be and more. She is Brooke 2.0, amplified in every aspect. Feisty, ballsy, speaks her mind, and has absolutely no filter at all. That's the person she lets us see. Though a lot like Tessa from the Alabama Summer Series, specifically All I Want, there is also so much more to her. Hidden behind those brazen remarks is a girl who is smart and business savvy with a loving heart, and fun personality.

From the moment these two meet, an electric current ignites. Their connection is intensely real and raw, their chemistry emitting sparks from miles away. The sexual banter, innuendos, and buildup to those fiery encounters will keep you dangling on the edge of your own release.

In true Sweetie J fashion she proves to us, yet again just how talented she truly is. You can NOT read this story without feeling like you are a part of their journey, a part of their world and a part of this book! Your cheeks will burn from laughing, but of course this wouldn't be a J. Daniels' book without a little angst to pull at your heartstrings.

Her words are written into tangled webs of enticement, luring you into her mind and thoughts as she takes you on a sweet ride where obsession is the main dessert.

4 "MASON'S LITTLE DEVIL" STARS.

There are only a handful of authors whose work I will blindly one click the moment it realeses because I know that I will love everything they write. J. Daniels is one of them, her books are those you are not allowed to read in public, because or you are laughing out loud or you are so turn on that your face turn red. And Sweet Obsession was not the exception.

I LOVED Sweet Obsession. I enjoyed the banter between Mason & Brooke. They were so cute together.
This is a book full of fun, sweet, hot and yeah more fun!

I think we all know who is Brooke Wicks, and we all adore her just the way she is. And if you do not love her.. watch your back because she has friends that can ruin your business. The surprise came from Mason, HOLY HOT, he was even more than I imagined. Sweet, sweet, sweet. His filthy mouth had me giggling and squeezing my legs during the whole book. Damn him and his accent. HA!

There were one chapter that made me so freaking happy, and I really hope I can get more of that. It was fabulous.

I love J. DANIELS writing and her hilarious and sexy characters. I can not wait to read her next books.

Brooke makes appearances in Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession so I recommend reading those before this book. Mason appeared in J. Daniels other series Alabama Summers. He was in All I Want.

OMG is this a crossover story?! I wanted Mason to get a story so I was sad when he left town at the end of All I Want. Yay I am so happy he is getting a story! Mason was the sweetest in All I Want. Not sure I want him to have a story with Brooke though. She is pretty out there. Brookes funny though and turned out to be a good friend. This is so neat.

Mason was Mia's yoga instructor in All I Want. He is from Australia. Tessa went on one date with him but just saw him as a friend. He was fine with it.

I'm just far to excited for this book release. I love this woman's writing.
