I’ve shopped through so many lettering books and resources, and this is exactly what I had been searching for! It’s wonderfully technical in breaking down the anatomy of letters in a way that’s specific, memorable, and repeatable. It uses real typography terminology (font nerds rejoice!). The color coding of the individual strokes was very helpful to understand assembly/connection of letter joints. and of course- as one would hope for in a book about a modern art form- it’s beautifully designed with a great watercolor aesthetic.

Beautifully illustrated pages, ideas for day, and funny narration. This books has it all for beginning hand letterers and people fascinated with brush lettering. The tips and tricks are helpful as a novice hand letterer, inspiration can be found in these pages to improve and learn the basics that can transform a quote, word, or phrase into a beautiful piece of art. Read it and hand letter all about it!

Wonderful crash course on hand lettering. I’m prepping for my class.

The guide pages aren’t convenient. The book includes guides for only small tip pens and are not removable. This means you have to manage to keep the book open to practice your letters. Not ideal but great instruction and tips!
