A very entertaining story of a woman who's past keeps repeating, even though she tries extremely hard to leave it behind. This story keeps your attention as it is told through the eyes of the different players who are involved. A very nice series of which I will definitely read more!!

I love that Vow of Silence by Chris Patchell gets right to the action. We have multiple storylines, threats, and danger. Drug cartels, politics, domestic abuse, kidnapping, lies, secrets, and the past…All have their place in the complex mysteries of the characters lives, filling them with danger and betrayal.

I didn’t realize this was Book II of the series, but I don’t feel it harmed my reading in any way, though I do recommend beginning at the beginning. It just made me work harder t

Jill is back and she can't seem to steer clear of danger. This is book two in the series. While I think it probably works fine as a stand-alone, I recommend starting with book one (Deadly Lies) for clarity and context.

I didn't really like Jill in the first book, but I did find her incredibly interesting. Here in book two, I liked her more - until I didn't. She makes some

This is a suspenseful story with an unexpected ending. Jill Shannon is a forceful protagonist and someone to be reckoned with. After reading the story, you will not do anything to upset her. The action takes place in the Phoenix area, and the events fit well in this environment. Jill is involved in so many different milieus, and manages to use all of them to forward her plans. The characters on all sides are very human and well-defined. Every major character seems to have hidden flaws that impac ...more

***** What a Powerful Book!

Wow. What a powerful book! Starting out with a journalist, Joe Gaines, obviously meeting up with a call girl, we are stunned by what happens next. Shot dead. Done. Period. Or is it?

Filled with multi-faceted characters, in this tight-plotted, fine-prosed work, Patchell shows us that there are two sides to everyone in life. Particularly with the people in this book. First off, there’s Jill Shannon––beautiful, devoted to her daughter, Lexi, and her fiancée,

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book surprised me in a lot of ways and I did enjoy the authors style and storytelling ability. There were times I felt I was right in that kitchen with Jill and Connor (the main characters) as they were making dinner. Unfortunately I had quite a few issues with this book and that undercuts the parts that I really liked. First, when given the ARC they did not stress that this is the second book in the series. For some book

This was a book that once I started reading, I could not put down. Having read the first book in the series Deadly Lies, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this, the next one.

Once again, we are with Jill Shannon in her new home in Phoenix. Now Jill has met up with the charismatic Conner Manning, the only son of former Arizona Governor, Pierce Manning.

All is going well for Jill. She has a small daughter born after the murder of her former husband, policeman, Alex Shannon,

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This is book 2 in the Jill Shannon mystery and I did not read the first book. In this book Jill Shannon is an executive who is engaged to be married to Connor Manning, a district attorney who comes from a very prestigious family of politicians including his father who I a former governor.
Jill has a beautiful little girl Lexie who was born after her father, Alex Shannon, a police officer, was murdered in front of Jill. Jill is a very strong wo

Vow of Silence takes place some five years after the events in Deadly Lies. Jill is doing well in her career and is settled down with her husband to be, Conner and her daughter, Lexi. While not exactly likable, Jill is certainly an intriguing character. She's smart, calculating, and has absolutely no compunction about doing whatever it takes to keep her past buried. She also manages to fit herself into any circle with seemingly little effort. Jill Shannon is the perfect example of what we see wh ...more

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. I have not yet read the first volume. I found this book to be an intriguing read that kept me guessing until the very end. Jill Shannon is a first rate software engineer with a dark past and present, engaged to a well-respected district attorney for whom his father has great ambitions. When a beautiful woman murders a reporter at a casino opening, Detective David Shaw begins tries to find the perpetrator from a dearth of cl ...more

I would have given this one a 5 star rating except it was not stressed that this is book 2 of a series. Most authors include book 1 for those who haven't read it. I really think you need to read book 1 in order to understand quite a bit of this story. I loved the plot. It was interesting and kept me hooked from the very beginning despite being a little lost at some points during the book. There were a lot of characters and things going on that it's imperative to pay attention. I loved this autho ...more

This is the first book written by this author that I have read and I got this as an ARC for my voluntary & honest opinion.
At first I had a little difficulty keeping track of the characters but once the story fleshed out a bit more I had no further problems. Perhaps the book wouldn't have been as surprising to me if I had read the first book in the series before reading this one. Or maybe the first book does not deal with characters mentioned in this one at all...guess I have to read th

Joe Gaines, a reporter for a Phoenix Newspaper is covering a story at a hotel on the opening night of their new casino. While there he meets a young letter and decides to stay over night. He texts his wife, and proceeds to give this woman his room key. The next thing we know Joe Gaines is found shot to death. Did is jealous wife do it, or perhaps a woman's husband. It seems Joe is notorious for womanizing.

“Vow of Silence” by Chris Patchell is an excellent suspenseful mystery. Jill Shannon is the last person to talk to a reporter before he turns up dead. Detective David Shaw goes to interview her and begins to find out more than he bargained for. Jill is engaged to Conner Manning. Conner’s father, an ex-governor, has political aspirations for his son. Jill has a very dark past and many secrets to keep hidden. She stops at nothing to make sure her secrets stay buried in the past. I would recommend ...more

This was a mystery that held my interest. I was conflicted about one of the main characters. This character was definitely a sociopath but I was cheering for a happy happy ending. A secondary character was brought down just for doing his job. So sad.

This was a tightly plotted story with well developed characters. I wish the next book in this series is already written so I can start reading it right now

Jill Shannon is moving on since her husband's murder five years earlier. She is going to get married in just eight weeks, but her past might delay if not stop the wedding all together. When Phoenix Detective David Shaw shows up asking questions about a reporter's murder it opens up a whole can of worms better left closed. Can Jill find her happy ever after or will her past cause her more unhappiness and pain? I voluntarily read a copy of this book from Hidden Gems.

This book was a great read, it's one of those "can't put it down" books because you just have to find out what is going to happen next.
The characters are believable & Jill, while the main character in this story, is a terrible person. It's going to be interesting to follow the rest of the stories in the series to see how Jill is eventually caught & by whom.
I was given this book free to read for a review.

There pretty much wasn't a page that didn't have action or interest in one way or another. Oddly, I didn't realize there was a prior book and although much was learned about the first book, nothing will stop me from reading it. Chris Patchell has found more ways to kill than any author I've ever read. I would almost be afraid to be her friend in case she has to practice. All kidding aside, this is one incredible writer.

Jill is at her best.

This book picks up where Deadly Lies leaves off. Jill has left comfortable Seattle for the drug heat a and monsoons of Arizona.. The story is as good as volume one of the series. There was no real cliff hanger in the first book or this one. The good news is that there appears to be more in this great series. I am anxious for it. Give this fine author a chance. She is pretty Damon good.

What a plan what a plan!!!!
Hold on for quite a ride! I could not stop reading and every moment I got I was reading especially the last quarter of the book. Hold on to your seat, it’s going to be bumpy! Don’t worry though Mama Bear’s got your back! The part I didn’t like about this book? It had to end..... amazing!!! Love the passion and fire in this writing! Keep it up! More please.

Book 2....Jill is fabulous!

This woman is really interesting! She's a deep subject. I look forward to knowing more about her and her past. Her step-father certainly left his mark. I love the fact that she is a really bad person but I gotta love her just the same. Amazingly intelligent. Love the way she plans ahead and stops Shaw in his tracks! Good read.

I enjoyed this book very much. I was 60% done when I went to Amazon and got the first one. This is going to be a great series. Can't wait to see what is in store for Jill. I also wonder if Det. Shaw will be back, also Conner. This book always has something happening. I didn't get bored or frustrated with the way the story was going.

Oh crap, a nasty chapter!

But the rest of the book was EXCELLENT, as expected!! It got a bit nail biting at the end, so get ready.
I don't go for sex scenes and the chapter, well that's what killed that 5th star.

Vow of Silence is my first book by Chris Patchell and I absolutely loved it. Hooked with in the first few pages this book is full of unexpected twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Well written and fast paced I highly recommend this book.

Awesome, chilling, left me wanting the next book

The first "Jill" book was a shocker. This second book has more shocks in store. I can't imagine where this story is going to end up. Kudos to the author for creating such a unique main character and compelling story lines.

Exciting Book

Loved this story with its many twists & turns. Spoiler alert, there must be a sequel, because in the end there is so much more to happen.

Somehow missed that this was a sequel, when I bought this audiobook.
Makes sense now though. I'll prob listen to it for context.

Only complaint: annoyed by loose ends.

Solid 3 stars, could have been better. If you liked the first book, you may like this one.
Not too fond of vigilantism, but the end is more or less satisfying, even for me.
Technical up-to-date with computers, mobile phones, instagram etc., but could have had more in depth scenes and technical stuff for me, it was real, but barely scratched the surface.
OK read, but no recommendation, except to get closure to the Jill Shannon story. ...more
