Jory Sherman is one of the great writers in Western Fiction. Really enjoyed the story, It held my attention from start to finish. I have read his books for years and he never disappoints.

Jory Sherman writes a great novel. The Medicine Horn takes the reader from the early settlement days on a sharecropper's farm in Virginia to the settlement days of Kentucky and beyond to the early days of the fur trapper in the early 1800s. Sherman's descriptions are rich in detail bringing the reader into the story and past times, which is difficult to do if the reader has no experience or has limited knowledge. Too many Westerns omit the details of how things worked and how things were made. ...more
