I am a parent of a child with dyslexia and a dyslexia advocate, and I am finding the guidebook "From High School to College" to navigate the process is essential. Having the knowledge of what to expect during the college application acceptance process and finally how to make sure the services are actually executed properly is invaluable and makes it all a lot less overwhelming. I particularly appreciate the way Ms. Hamblet organized the book into sections and having charts/tables plus highlighting really important points in sidebar text are quite helpful to me (the parent) and particularly to my daughter. This is very well-written book that is easy to follow for a parent or the student, so I feel confident she's going to get the right information to handle things on her own. I got the print version and I'm going to have to order a 2nd book on Kindle so we each have a copy!
Transitioning from high school to the world beyond can be a daunting experience for many students and families. This is especially the case when there is a disability involved. With this in mind, Elizabeth Hamblet has written “From High School to College” to help arm students, parents, and high school professionals with critical information and strategies to enhance opportunities for a successful transition. This is an invaluable resource aimed at closing the knowledge gap that often prevents students with disabilities from pursuing attainable goals, and opening doors to more independent academic and personal functioning for those same students.
