A story of love, finding oneself and a mysterious creature!

Pearl is another sweet historical romance in the Cowboys and Debutantes Series. A unique and captivating story with romance and a happy-ending that we all have come to expect. This is a story that I had a hard time putting down. It is such a unique and captivating story. Vivi Holt added a mysterious creature into the story that adds some intrigue trying to figure out what it could be. I caught myself laughing out loud several times thro

Ms. Holt knows how to draw her reader in with these short story. I couldn’t even begin to think how these girls felt losing everything from their families money to the life as they know it all to be sent to marry a man they didn’t know. My heart really went out to them. I listened to this in a box set seeing how each girl had to deal with her own issues. They show how strong they are, what they are willing to do, to make a new life for them. As things start going well there is news from home tha ...more

Cowboys and Debutantes: Historical, Book 6

By: Vivi Holt
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly

“Pearl” is an enjoyable & entertaining read/listen with great storylines and characters. It is the first Vivi Holt book I read, also the first historical mail order book. Thankfully society has come a long way since then. Great character development, Pearl Stout a NY Debutant is thrown from one lifestyle into another world, a small town amongst the wild frontie

I love this series, each of the books has such great characters. This one features Pearl. She is 17 and sent to be a mail order bride in payment for her father's gambling debts. When she arrives though, the man, Hilton is not the one she is not ready to marry, she is in need of finding a way to support herself. Hilton has provided an apartment for her, but she is determined to make her own way. Hilton's brother, Hank has a draw to Pearl, and when she takes a job as a stagecoach driver, he is the ...more

The Red Ghost

The family has been swindled and bankrupted; three debutante sisters, the pride of society, have now lost all social standing--and any promises made by aspiring suitors have been forgone. Papa's solution? Ship them off as mail-order brides. Each of the girls ends up in a different state or territory. Pearl's destination is Tucson, Arizona Territory, with a pair of freed slaves as travel companions who introduce her to the concept of freedom and making choices for herself. Lest anyo

Audio review
This audio is great just like all the other Vivi Holt stories. You can connect with the families and the hero and heroine. Viv makes yhe situation that is written just like every life situation.
Pearl takes place in a time in America where the west was short of females . Mail order brides were very popular back them. Male got females to move out there, for many reasons, for company, to start a family, and women moves out there because most of them had no choice because of their fami

Pearl ( Cowboys and Debutantes - Book 6 )
By: Vivi Holt
Pearl is book six of Cowboys and Debutantes series. Wow, What a story. I love this Cowboys and Debutants series. Pearl is a little different from the other stories. The author grabbed me right at the start and I was captured. I caught myself laughing out several times. Then there was a few times I was holding my breath and trying to read faster. Pearl was sent to Arizona to marry a man she did not know. She was angry and not happy. I found Pe

Loved this story. Vivi Holt does it again, this time with Pearl who is sent out to Arizona by her parents to be a mail order bride to a stranger. He intended is Hilton Pullman, a reported at the local paper, but a series, organized with no carefree attitude at all. She meets his older brother Hank at the same time and he is just the opposite. A drifter it seems and caring about nothing. But the more time she spends with him she knows there is no way she can marry Hilton even if she has to make h ...more

I was given an advanced copy of this book for my honest review, and I loved it. Pearl's parents are sending her west to marry a man that she has never met. Pearl has a strong will and is tired of people telling her how to act and what she can and cannot do. When you mix together some romance, determination and a little mystery, you have a great story!

Pearls got spunk

At 17 her father arranged a marriage for her and sent her off to Tucson and she knew nothing about her future husband but his name. Angry with her parents she rebels and decided it's time for her to take control of her life and do what she wants to do. I bet you'll never guess what job this New York debutant tackles! Fun and interesting story.

A Pearl's value

What a fun and exciting adventure! Pearl is by far the most adventuresome of her sisters and it was fun watching her become her true self and of course find true love...and the red ghost.😂

A good listen and you enjoyed listening to the very good performance artist and it had a good cast of characters and really good descriptions of every situation and the story flowed quite nicely. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.

Hero: Hank - Heroine: Pearl
4.5* : I enjoyed reading this different kind of M/O bride story it's slightly different than the rest of the series but just as good. She took fate into her owns hands so to speak after she arrived. The well developed characters and intriguing plot kept me totally enchanted until the turn of the very last page. This story has a very happy and satisfying HEA!! Although I wished there was an epilogue especially being the last one in the series
