In pursuit of an enemy, Elaria and her friends enter Primeval—the ancient forest that covers most of Tír na nÓg. But priorities soon shift as a much larger danger arises. Her books have been translated into several languages, have won numerous awards, and are bestsellers. She believes in empowering women through her writing as well as providing everyone with a great escape from reality. Her stories are full of strong women and hot gods, shapeshifters, vampires, dragons, fairies, gargoyles... pretty much any type of supernatural, breathtakingly gorgeous man you can think of. Because why have normal when you could have paranormal? Born and raised in Hawaii, Amy made a perilous journey across the ocean with six cats to settle in the beautiful state of Oregon which reminds her a lot of Hawaii but without the cockroaches or evil sand. When she isn't trying to type fast enough to get down everything the voices in her head are saying while her kitties try to sabotage her with cuteness, she enjoys painting on canvases, walls, and anything else that will sit still long enough for the paint to dry. She prefers antiques to modern furniture, tea to coffee, night to day, and Tom Hardy to Tom Hiddleston. No; Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy. No, wait... Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston to Tom Cruise. I think this is where I part with the series. I’m not overly attached to any of the characters & this seems like a fine place to 🛑. This is a mediocre series with a unique h & an average RH. 3 stars
I really really liked this but I soo didn’t love it....
I really really liked this but I soo didn’t love it.... Amy Sumida is on my short list of favorite writers, but even your favorites can’t please you all the time, even though I know they try.... But I was really frustrated here,Elaria and her gang just don’t most of their time chasing their tails m running around in what definitely felt like circles at times almost always a 1/2 doz. steps behind for at least 80% of the book even though the were nearly constantly on the move... My main disappointments here were one) just how clueless they ALL were at times, when they went threw the Primeval Forest and everything seem to have went and concluded w a y w a y too easily they should have had a clue, they are “people” who have all been around 100’s and 100’s of years, some like Odin maybe even a 1000 ( who knows) and yet they were all soo clueless they all ran around like horses with blinders on, who couldn’t see anything that wasn’t staring directly right in front of them and even then they seemed to miss it ... And while the writer loves to over burden the heroines of her series ,I think to show how strong and capable they are ,really to me it just ends them look weak when they spend the whole book chasing their tails not seeing or noticing what’s right in front of them til things get ugly because they all end up w/too many men and way too many responsibilities to be able to meet them all like she should... El now has a kingdom in Tir na nOg,kyanite and I can quite honestly say I LOVE her relationship w/her stone and it’s one of my favorite relationships in the book, her stone LOVES her and they have a good and interesting chemistry that some times is more fun to read than the one she has w/her actual lovers... And that’s my second) point about what annoyed me in this book, too many men, not enough time and too much running around... El never really gets to spend any real one on one time with them here, while I’m glad to finally have Torin back securely back in the fo,d and some of their differences finally worked out (YaY!!!!) nd while I love, love, love a good well thought out RH especially when it’s more than an excuse for lots and lots of sex and it doesn’t all revolve around some ridiculously young girl ( I mean come on! Why do more than 1/2 of these type of books (RH ) revolve around a girl who barely old enough to have a sex life much less a sex life involving 3-5-6 men? Why ? I doubt any of us would read about an 18 yr. old guy w/a harem of women all in the late 20’s/ early 30’s) no, thanks ) ( any way) While I’m glad Torin is back and all I would have loved a story that moved a little slower and let our couples have som3 alone time just the 2of them to really grow their relationships and see they had more going on than just sex, because the only time she was a,one w/one was at night with who ever was nights bed partner and honestly that wasn’t really romantic, especially Gage who’s griffin was testy and in edge having to be around all her other men,soo he gets her 1st and needs to “ assert his dominance” because it “griffin needed it” and honestly it turned me off,not just because the thought of a woman riding a guys foot to get off wasn’t even slightly sexy to me but also because Gage is a cocky show off, liking it when he has to disrobe in front others to shift and seems to get off on others ogling his form while Elaria sadly just rolls her eyes and the next is seemingly needing to dominate her just for the sake of it because his animal doesn’t like her other men being around.... Hypocrite much ? Sighs, at 1st I loved all her men being around at her back and covering her sides, ( I mean if we could all create a fantasy like this and life it, I’d be a shifter w/all kinds of powers and abilities and I’d be roaming lots of different worlds and dimensions and I’d definitely have my own harem) ( a woman can dream, right?) but there was just ay too much going on to have any real sign of a real relationship with her men just sex really... I gotta say my faves are Banning and Torin, El kinda met them both 1st but with all the past life baggage, Banning felt too complicated for El at first and all she wanted was Torin ... One of the things I love about Her and Torin is they had time in the books where it was just the two of them and had a chance to secure a relationship w/out all these extra ppl involved , but sadly my third fave Declan came two the party with her heart already divided in two by Banning and Declan and while Declan is the definite wild “child” of the group,he’s also kinda and intelligent and quickly witted and very observant and resourceful but in this huge moving mass we observed here in this book, he was mostly whittled down to just Declan the proud pervert and that was just sad to me... While I love that Dec is proud and self aware and owns who he is and who he isn’t ,there was just soo much going on that he often just felt more like a caricature than a real character ...
Wondering if I will part with the series after finishing this book. Personally I love a well thought out villain and in these case it feels pointless, they keep coming without anyone calling for them and Elaria will obviously keep becoming stronger and stronger.
Also some of the things happening felt pretty pointless.
1. Why highlight that Alex had a crush on Odin, for her to die the next (him immediately going to the dragon lady “because you never know”) for her to come back and apparently won’t very into Tell? What the me heck?
2. What was the point of bringing an old ex from Elaria just for them to be assholes about it and pretty much be mad about it? Not even a tiny revelation about how she has had a life prior to them and could have another one after them?
3. She has become a queen but we have barely seen anything related to that. She only punished the traitors and that’s that, no time on her kingdom, not work on her part, not getting to know her subjects…..
4. Seeing Torin being welcomed back to the “group” after the awful way he acted rubbed me the wrong way. Pretty but not even a conversation nor redemption, just one song and let go….
5. She has only gotten mad one time (real mad I mean) and they don’t even talk about it? She just storms out and next scene with them it happy again….
In this book her relationship with the men felt pretty sexual and nothing beyond that. Hundreds of pages but almost no one on one time or meaningful time, and they also talk about their “turn” as if there talking about winning a prize at the fair.

Elaria and her friends must help out the creates of Primeval when they realize that there is huge danger coming to them.
This book was not as good as some of the others of this series. I felt like it was mainly just fighting or trying to figure out who to fight. That was a bit annoying. There were a few instances of small drama, but that was about it. And I enjoyed Elaria and her friends getting closer.
Amy is one of my favorite authors and it’s nice to se where el life leads one battle after another in epics proportions.. she did have me wondering if el was gonna add to her fantastic four Ima stop before i slip out any spoilers another great book from my favorite author
I really like this series. It's unique and fun to read. The only thing I didn't like about this one was how rushed certain parts seemed. There was A LOT going on in this book. I am also a little disappointed our heroine didn't pick up another hero. Overall the book is good, but not as good as the previous ones.
I’m so happy with this book and I can’t wait for the next one. I love how Amy writes and how different every series is from each other. I’m excited to read Elarias next adventure.
Do read this book, if you like the other series by Amy Sumida then you'll love El and her consorts. Humor, love and hot sex....you can't go wrong. Loved it and can't wait for the next in this series of her others!!!!!!!!
I can't get enough of these books, I've read some multiple times & I can't belive I hadn't finished this one before now. At least the next book just released so I can go right into that without having to wait.
I love this series the music adds something to the story makes it much more dynamic. I love how all of the different mythologies interact with each other and can not wait to start the next one.
I have read all of the books in this series. I enjoyed the banter and love. The only thing I did not like was the sexual escapades turning into porn. Not a YA by any means.
I’m so thrilled they won but also devastated with the losses…so heartbreaking 💔. I honestly love torin, Declan, gage and ban so much. I can’t wait to get to know these guys better. Onto the next book
I LoOOOOVE This series. it isone of my favorite series ever I can't wait for more!!!! Please gods let there be more!!!! I'll be on the edge of my seat.
OMG Amy favorite series from beginning it captures you. If you love RH this book is for you. Also she need to add the dragon to the mix he seems like fun.
Nice continuation of the story. I like how everything goes together and the world building! Sad they didn't add another to the rh, but ok with it in the end.
Not my favorite out of her series, but I still loved it. I enjoyed the books and it even made me emotional at points. Very well written. Can't wait for more from the author.
