“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” ~ Maria Robinson
Very beautiful and touching life story.
I wasn’t a fan of a love storyline – sorry, but I couldn’t connect to the hero till the end (tortured past doesn't give a person right to treat the others with disrespect!) – but the heroine was amazing and the human message of the book was deep.

I´ve read all of the books written by sandi Lynn because she´s one of my favourite writers, but... this book.. I didn't like it. I mean, the plot is nice and everything but the male character, Carter, was soooo mean and disrespecful that I couldn´t connect with him. Nothing, absolutly nothing gives you the right to treat a person like shit, I mean if something horrible happened to you, it should not be used as a excuse to treat the rest as if they were worthless, and almost the entire book Carte

The hero uses as an excuse the loss of loved ones to be a BIG asshole.
He verbally abuses our heroine at all times and drowns his problems in alcohol.
I could not sympathize with him.
And we have our heroine seeing dead people and talking to them. Even the hero's ex.
I did not like it. It did not work for me.

Believing in the afterlife isn't the problem for me -- but the way this book was written certainly was. The premise was fairytale from start to finish, the sentence structure was mechanical without much feeling or emotional content provided and I couldn't relate to Carter and his behavior, nor could I get onboard with how everything surrounding Zoey and Carter was like Disneyland on steroids for the rich and famous. Yes, they both endured great loss -- that's an everyday occurrence for people in

Omg what another amazing book by Sandi. This book was absolutely stunning it made me cry from start to finish.
Carter Grayson is a billionaire and runs his own company. He has a younger sister Nora who is terminally ill with cancer of the brain. One day while in Starbucks Carter is distributed by two girls laughing and tells them to be quiet and have respect for other people but they just laughed.
Zoey Benson is a care nurse and has a gift towards people who are dying. Zoey is hold ...more

This came recommended as a friend thought I would love those grieving widower trope. But nope, just couldn't get into this. The writing was short and stilted. Just didn't flow well to me. And I found the hero your usual gruff asshole who takes his pain out on the heroine. And she just rolls over and take his shit. I literally cannot take any more of these weak heroines. Just terrible, I cannot even go into depth like my usual review. Just glad I got to the end.

Honestly, this might have rated a little higher, but immediately following I read another book that I feel like was kind of similar in theme and it just blew it out of the park.
Carter has experienced tragedy after tragedy and is currently living through another as his sister is dying of cancer. He is suffering greatly but his outer shell has made him a ruthless a**hole to just about everyone. Zoey is practically destined to be a hospice nurse to help people in their last moments and her ...more

[1 star] dont really like this book. carter is an asshole and zoey is a doormat that allows asshole carter to walk over her and she happily allows it. he ask for sex, she simply just agreed, like seriously??!! i mean author wrote out that carter keep apologizing but still go back to his own ways of hurting zoey, then why zoey feel like she is ok with it? doesn't make sense at all. also the 1st 3/4 is sort of slow but after zoey & carter got together, the story become super fast-paced, overall th

Better than I expected.. I liked the paranormal element, even if it wasn't very original or meshed out. The grovel was good, BUT... when the H continues to be a douche after said grovel it kinda negates the grovel... KWIM?
This author is a very steady 3-star read in my book, but this one was soooo close to reaching that 4th star.. Unfortunately, the H ultimately annoyed me one too many times and I had to go back to the typical "3-star Sandi Lynn" review. ...more

Disappointed
This book is written quite badly. It's as if it was written by a robot. The scructure and dialogues are so stiff and repetitive.
I don't mind when people believe in ghosts but the author made it seem like after death people become almost God-like with powers to actually manipulate the universe and living people. That was just ridiculous and quite cringey to be honest.
Actually, the last part of the book was all cringe. In one minute he's an asshole, in the next he's declaring his love ...more

One thing I’ve learnt from this is not to judge a book based on other people’s reviews, I read a few reviews of this and shelved it as something maybe I’ll read later, and last night decided to give it a chance and I’m glad I did, I enjoyed it more than I assumed I would.

Wow. This book...it was wonderful. Honestly I don't know if I can do it justice but I'll try. Both Carter and Zooey have been through horrific experiences and dealt with them differently. When they meet at the beginning of the book Carter is full of rage and darkness, holding on to all of the pain he felt. Zooey has to deal with him daily and wants to help him, but honestly doesn't know if she can.

Carter Grayson was a Grade A DICK!!!!! I felt for the pain he was going through, but that’s no excuse for not being a decent human being. No Excuse! Zoey was my Hero.......for having the THICKEST SKIN EVER on a woman. I would never have given him the time of day. Grieving or not, sorry........not sorry. I hated everything about Carter........Ordinarily, I love all of Sandy’s books. I’ve read most if not all, but this one just grated on my nerves.......the rudeness was overbearing, the assholines

Ohh what to say about this book without sounding harsh, since I am not an author myself and have no idea how hard it is to write a book. But uggg I keep reading Sandi Lynn books and keep finding myself being disappointed by the amateurish writing style and lack of depth in the storyline and characters. Like many of her books the synopsis sounds like it's going to be a great read and it so could be with more thought and depth put into the story. Why? Why do I keep reading her books? I guess becau

After reading the blurb to this book, I actually stopped reading another novel so I could pick this one up immediately. So glad I did. It was addictive. Read in one day. #Carter was like a volcano ready to blow, and you could feel it with every page - PEW! Zoey on the other hand was calm - two opposites through circumstances. It was a magical read. This author can certainly get emotion onto paper. This is not an easy topic for a lot of people to get their heads around at the best of times, but w

Wow! This book blew me away with so many emotions. Most of the book I thought Carter was a jerk but I also saw his pain shining through with all his anger and hate. Then you have strong and beautiful Zoey who puts up with him and even tries to help him. I loved how the push and pull with both characters felt so real. They both showed so much emotion while dealing with their past and present. Nora was such a sweet soul and she real ...more

I tried but I couldn’t finish this book. The storyline was different and since I’m a spiritual person it appealed to me but execution greatly failed. The relationship between the two main characters wasn’t there. It’s hard to put into words. I’ve read plenty of enemies to lovers romance novels but the male character was bad character development. I couldn’t even feel for him or his story. The female character was child like without any back bone. And when she did tell the male character off it w

Perfect.
I’m a huge fan of author Sandi Lynn’s books, she has a way of making her characters come to life on the pages of her books. Carter Grayson is the perfect book, he has endured so much pain in his life. Too many heartaches for one person, he’s angry at everyone. Zoey walks into his life and she tries to bring him out of his darkness except he’s not ready to let go. It’s not an easy feat to try and show him that there’s life after pain and loss, and life is worth living because everyone is ...more

Carter is a hard nut to crack. He feels that the world has let him down and everyone around his has passed away. Zoey is a Hospice nurse with a heart of gold and sees the good in everyone. Zoey had a run in with Carter at a coffee shop and she hoped she wouldn't see him again. As luck would have it Carter's sister was good at running her nurses off. Nora is Carter's sister and he knows that he is going to struggle once he is gone. I don't want to give away the story but I laughed, cried and trul

Ehh
Spoilers. I wasn’t on board with this theme. I didn’t agree with Zoey’s approach to convincing the main hero of her faith. You can’t force your faith onto someone else who does not believe and that’s what the author had her doing. I feel like he did have a right to be upset when she was talking about it to him because he told her multiple times to stop. She didn’t. She kept pushing it. I stopped reading after she deemed him an a hole after he exploded on her for bringing it up yet again.
