Like flowers denied water, people are wilting under the emperor's tyranny.

Rose will not rest until the Gardener is dead. But there are bigger battles to fight, and Rayce—leader of the rebellion and the only man Rose has ever loved—believes their best chance at winning the war is to join forces with her sworn enemy.

Saving innocent people is more important than her quest for

"Fortune clings to the hand that wields flowers". War of the Wilted (Garden of Thorns, #2) quote.

I pledge my loyalty to the cause.
A Rose by any other name is still a Rose. Beautiful, elegant and stubborn. Our leading lady is the Varshan Princess. The true heir to the Varshan throne, betrothed to the now fallen prince of Delmar, Rayce and new member of the rebellion.

War of the Wilted is a fantastic sequel to Garden of Thorns! I'm glad I continued with the series. Not to mention the beautiful titles and covers complement the story so well I'll never get tired of looking at them.

In the beginning I had a hard time remembering everything that happened before. But the more of War of the Wilted I read the clearer things became again. I was eager and very happy to see new events unfold. However, at times, the stor

I love so many things about the series. The world is immersive and has just the right amount of detail without getting too bogged down in geography and politics. It is not the type of world building where you feel you need to write down genealogies and take notes to keep track of everything. It’s just enough to keep me involved without having too many unanswered questions.

The characters are well done and likable. I especially enjoy The Flowers, Arlo and Marin. I worry about them in every battle

I love this series so much! It manages to fill my love of romance without taking away from the action or being too sweet. It's difficult to write details because I don't want to accidentally spoil this or Garden of Thorns. I was thrilled to learn there will be a third! Highly recommend the series.

War of the Wilted by Amber Mitchell continues the Garden of Thorns series. What I love about this series is the balance. There is a great world for us to explore but that doesn't take over. Rose is a strong heroine but she is also very evidently insecure and young. The characters are dynamic and interesting, particularly Rose and Rayce and how they grow in the circumstances of the battle they are in. Added twists and surprises await as you make your way through Amber Mitchell's War of the Wilted ...more

War of the Wilted is the second installment in author Amber Mitchell's Garden of Thorns trilogy. The book picks up shortly after the ending of the Garden of Thorns. Protagonist Rose, who we all know by a different name now, has pledged her life to the Zareeni rebellion led by Rayce Sun against Emperor Galen Sun. Rose's real identity is a huge secret. Only a few people, including Rayce, the Gardener, and the Emperor kn

"War of the Wilted" is a great continuation of the Garden of Thorns series. The rebellion is well underway and this book continues where the first left off (I recommend reading them close in time as this one moves too fast to recap much). Rose is living with Marin amongst the rebellion and now the other Flowers are there. Rayce is preparing to make the final moves to retake the country.

Although captured, Rayce is keeping the Gardener alive. Rose has pledged herself to the Zareeni rebellion and i

So I read this a little bit after I read the first one and y’all know what I thought of the first one but this wasn’t that bad. It continued nicely and I loved the topics discussed and honestly not as bad. Good read!

War of the Wilted is fantastic and I'm so happy to have read it!! The author's continuity with her worldbuilding and characters never disappoints as you quickly find yourself immersed in the storyline. This story does pick up where Garden of Thorns ended so in order not to find yourself lost while reading, you must read the books in order. I will also note that I simply love the beautiful covers and cannot wait to see where things go next! - YA/NA Book Divas

'War of the Wilted' is the exciting second installment in the young adult fantasy series, Garden of Thorns. It picks up where the first book left off, with Rose and her fellow rebels taking down the Gardener and thwarting the plans of the emperor. You really need to read the first book before this one so you don't get confused and are caught up on what has happened and what's currently being done. I loved reconnecting with Rose and her world and I fell right back inside the fascinating world the ...more

War of the Wilted is very much a second book. The happiness from the first book was just begging to be disrupted, right? Well no fear—it was disrupted quite thoroughly. However, despite the destruction of so much happiness, the book still managed to draw me in and keep my attention without me hating it. The story is still well crafted, and the writing style is enjoyable to read.

That’s not to say that I was p

Amber Mitchell jumps back into the political upheaval of her YA fantasy romance series with the next amazing installment, War of the Wilted. The Zareeni rebellion is holding the Gardener captive and pumping him for an advantage over the Emperor. In a twist, Rose and Rayce are at odds and it seems as though the rebellion is heading towards its final fight with dwindling numbers and sabotaged missions.

The story picks up where Garden of Thorns ended. I would suggest a

War of the Wilted by Amber Mitchell is the second book in the Garden of Thorns trilogy and it picks up shortly after the end of book one. I was pretty excited when I saw this and I admit, I probably should have re-read the last few chapters to get back into the story as I kind of forgot how the last one ended. With that said, I loved diving back into this world and learning more about everything.

Rose and Rayce are slightly at odds during this entire book. This is mostly due to the fact

Couldn’t resist driving straight into this after the last book in the series, garden of thrones

We are thrown back into the rebellion with Rayce and rose who are struggling with their relationship and their dedication to the rebellion and to each other, watching their relationship change and grow has so far been one of the best parts of this series!

Roses relationship with her fellow flowers and wilteds starts to show strain after they were rescued from the garden, and Rose has to choose between

Before I jumped in to read War of the Wilted, I went back and re-read Garden of Thorns. I’m glad I did, not necessarily because I’d forgotten a lot, but because I loved that book so much the first time and discovered I loved it just as much the second time! I also got to remind myself just how much I adore Rayce :) Then I went right into War of the Wilted, and boy I loved this one, too! I will say there were times I was frustrated with Rose, because I felt like she was so stubborn about not list ...more

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for the opportunity to read and review War of the Wilted by Amber Mitchell. Arianna, “Rose”, wants to help the rebellion but she wants vengeance above everything else. Arianna is working with Rayce, the leader of the rebellion, but she’s angry with Rayce also because he’s keeping the Gardener alive for information, even though he’s responsible for the mistreatment and killing of young women. Arianna is maddeningly stubborn and doesn’t think sh

While ‘Garden of Thorns’ did not end on a cliffhanger, per se, ‘War of the Wilted’ picks up where book 1 left off and builds upon its events, while offering more action and picturesque scenery descriptions. Though Rose has endured many hardships in her past, being at odds with the love of her life while he holds her tormentor captive is a new, harsh challenge for her.

Political turmoil comes to a head and some of the secondary characters are further developed while Rayce and Rose strug

Unfortunately, it's a DNF, at 80%. I tried sticking it out but I lost interest; ended up skipping pages and feeling that I wasn't missing out on anything.

I enjoyed book one and was looking forward to this one but I felt it dragged. A lot of interior monologue and unnecessary back-and-forth and the characters frustrated me, to no end.

It was also predictable.

So that is why my rating is 2 stars - my standard DNF rating. I voluntarily agreed to read an early copy of this book through Netgalley.

Oh goodness! I was super excited to read this story. The first book was awesome. Great concept. Something new and never before seen. That is a rare thing in the world of books. This second installment seemed more generic to me, not that the story was bad, but it was something I had already heard. This was the only reason I gave it a four star and not a five star. Love the author and her writing style. She really brings her world to life in a very colorful way. Loved the characters and how they i ...more

Not really a wrap up

I like these characters and overall the book was good but I did feel like this could of had a 3rd book to Tyler wrap up the story. I think there are questions we still have that need to be answered.

War of the Wilted is book 2 in the Garden of Thorns series and is an excellent continuation. It picks up right where book one left off. It is fast paced and action packed and I would recommend reading them close together so you don't forget anything.

I felt this book really focused on Rayce and his plans for the rebellion even though this series is told from Rose's POV. There is a lot of conflict between the two of them so the romance isn't dominant in this story and I'm actually kind of glad. Wh

I requested this ARC not knowing it was the 2nd book, so long story short, I read the 1st book and immediately read this after.

Rayce is holding the Gardener captive within the confines of the rebellion stronghold. Keeping him alive because he's giving them intel on the emperor. Rose knows he's leading them in to a trap, but every move he gives them proves his worth. Playing Rose against Rayce is driving a wedge between them. Regretting she didn't kill him when she had the chance, Rayce won't listen to her now. The battle is nigh, and we will know thy enemies for what they are. Sacrifices will be made, difficult choices ...more
