A beautiful fantasy world of three kingdoms at war. The kingdoms made by three brothers, who have their own sets of strengths and power.
A read to make you feel cosy in the cold weather of winter.

All the characters have their own importance and beauty. Though I felt that the back history of kingdoms and a little more information about characters would have turned it into a masterpiece.

BUT It is author's debut novel and I must say, it's impressive. The simple language and Amazing world summed up in just 300 pages is commendable.

It definitely holds the power to take you on a journey of those Kingdoms and tell you what and how it progresses.

Definitely a treat for all the fantasy lovers.

It surprises me a lot to see that even at the mere age of 17 , people in our country are able to weave a plot around multiple characters and narrate a story that revolves around political dogma and rebellions that needs significant amount of maturity.

This novel is quite an interesting work that bears resemblance to Game Of Thrones in the way tale progresses and the elements of the fantasy world are built. To be able to sum the mutlititde of so many things happening together in just around 300 pages is what differentiate this book from its contemporaries.

The book is quite fast paced and there isn't any dull moment. The writing style is quite simple contrary to what the novels of this genre generally entails. Though there were few let downs too like the way some characters behave in few situations seem quite unreal. Also the built up of kingdoms and their royal vibe never comes.

Overall a decent work and author undoubtedly has a huge potential. Looking forward to more parts of this series

The story of Mercy Of Gods and Men by Aditya Mathur is set in three kingdoms that are at war. With rebellions, conspiracies and lots of action, it makes for an exciting read.

This is the author’s first novel and I have to say I’m impressed. The writing was quite good despite a few errors. The chapters were short which made the book a fast read.

I could see how the plot was inspired by Game Of Thrones but it was also different all the same. Magic, politics, conspiracy even dragons are a part of it. It did take me a while to get into the book but it got more interesting as it progressed. The story moves at a very good pace and doesn’t get boring.

There is a wide set of characters and we read the book through all their perspectives. I liked that the author managed to tell a bit about all of them and wrap up the book in 300 pages. However, at times I felt like they made very compulsive decisions and their moods changed too often.

As a fantasy book, what this story lacked was proper world-building. It would have been more fascinating if we knew more about the people and the back-story of the kingdoms.

Pick this up if you’re looking for a quick and entertaining fantasy read.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book.

The story starts off with the origin of Deiosa, how three brothers tamed the dragons and took the city for themselves. The elder took Helica. The middle one Luneta The youngest who loved his people got Deiosa. The main 6 houses are House of God, the ruling house, House of Dragon, House of Phoenix, House of Pegasus, House of Yeti and House of Hydra. Years ago House of Dragon started a rebellion against the House of God, they were defeated. Now a new rebellion is under way. The narrative is done from the point of view of various characters, which reminds you of GOT. First we meet William, who has lost his family and joins the rebellion led by Roderick against the house of God. Then we have Rigolos from helios, a child king, who wants to conquer Deiosa for his wife Reyna. Then we have Oskar the prince of Luneta.

Who win the rebellion?
What happened to the dragons?

It does remind you of Game of thrones because of the multitude of characters. Once you delve into the story you forget that it was written by an author. The language and writing style are simple those are the things that stand out, but plot wise excellent effort. I guess I'm not used to simple language in fantasy books. They were few grammatical errors but in whole an enjoyable read. It is a fast paced book and chapters are pretty short.

Mercy of Gods & Men is fantasy novel with 3 kingdoms at war! These kingdoms were made and brought to power by three brothers each with their significant strengths, much like the brothers.

It is the debut novel of author Aditya Mathur and he has done a commendable job. The language and writing is simple which makes you keep pace with the story and the multiple characters it has to offer.

It will make you think of Game of Thrones but does have its own edge. One big plus is the length of the chapters and subsequently the book. The chapters are short and do not distract you away from the plot and kudos to the author for limiting a cut-throat war fantasy in under 300 pages.

There is drama, rivalry, politics, jealousy and the much-appreciated action throughout the story.

What it lacks:
- the characters make hasty and impulsive decisions at times which seem out of place, maybe because, given the length of the book it is not possible to explain every character in detail and so the character development suffers.
- It would be interesting to see the back-story of the kingdoms and a bit more about their history.
- A few things in the book were a bit unacceptable. (Like when Bella slept with that married man, her parents seem to tease her. That whole scene was a bit too much.)

Fantasy lovers, you might like this one.

The editing was very very poor. So was the writing style. It was a little messed up and seemed a mixture of Eragon and GoT in a book.

A Fantasy tale powered by Politics, Power & Magic. As the battle of the rebellions against the king's rule is taken place there is an uprorar rising against the evil that starts in - Mercy.
-
This story is actually a base for the whole series. It revolves around several people's life. Giving us the knowledge of how everything sets a chain of events that's going to occur in future. Told by Several POVs Mercy takes us in the land of Kings and Rebellions where everyone is trying to set a foot in their lands and gain the rule for their people and power of the crown to serve justice.
-
Self discovery of the main characters William, Rigolous and Oskar is seen as they held a power inside them that could change the whole future of the world they live in, but to achieve that they have to find themselves and reach out to that power.
-
I liked the whole theme of the story, the way the story was set, involving politics and the writing made it enjoyable for me. There were times where I loosed interest but I wanted to see how everything will take place. I wanted to give this book a chance as every base needs to be set for making a better plot for the series and I expect something great in the next book as the writing was very fluent, powerful and promising.
-
For this being an Indian author writing this Fantasy Fiction tale had intrigued me a lot. The author has a potential to take it further and into another level.
-
If you love anything that includes lots of politics, battle, a need for survival and justice withs a twist of magic and mysteries, then this book is for you.

Set in the 3 kingdoms the story revolves around rebellions, wars and political agendas.

#plot Kaleno, the hand of god, the king of Deiosa is a dictator kind of king. Anyone who opposes him their village is burnt down. Even the children are not spared. The people of other kingdoms are not very happy with how Kaleno is ruling. They want liberty from tyranny. Therefore they start a rebellion against the king.
William Dragonborn, a descendant of a lost lineage, leads the rebellion. Kaleno does everything in his power to stop the rebellion. There's a war ahead.
Read the book to know what happens next.

This is the first book of the 3 books from this series.
When I read the book I was in awe that its written by a 17year old indian author. I am sure most of you wont be having an idea about this book. Because most of you wont read Indian Authors.
This book deserves all the love.... The plot is gripping right from the start. There are so so many characters that at times you might forget who is who. Each character has an important role to play. It also includes wars, magic, power , dragons etc. The plot is excellent and the writing is good, no complaints there but the book did have a lot of grammatical and printing errors which irritated me.
This ending of this book is just the start. It left me wanting for me. I will be waiting for the next part of this book.

Rating - 4/5

I would have given it a 5/5 had it not been for those printing errors.

I personally enjoy reading the fantasy genre of books. Mercy- of Gods & Men is supposed to be the first book in a 3-part series. The book begins with the telling of a legend about how three empires and the houses came to be.
There are three empires in this story- Deiosa, Helica and Luneta and about twelve houses, out of which the houses of the sun, the moon, the dragon, the phoenix and the hydra are given importance in this story.
So in this fantasy saga, there is magic, there is war, there are warriors and there are dragons! I particularly enjoyed the part where William makes his dragon hatch from the egg.
The story is enjoyable if one can keep track of the many characters and the multiple plots going on simultaneously in the book. The story ends with many loose threads as the author obviously intends to continue with the story in the subsequent parts.
The story also deals with emotions like love and jealousy. The jealousy of Reyna towards Bella and how she ends Bella’s life with magic is interesting to read.
I cannot help but compare the book to the Game of Thrones series. I am sure that the author is also a fan of the series like I am! The enjoyment of reading the book is only marred by the spelling and grammatical mistakes in the story.
However, I will say that this is a wonderful effort on the part of such a young author and I do look forward to reading the second part of the series. Mercy-of Gods & Men is worth reading if you are a fan of fantasy fiction.

Every time I start a new book, I prepare to get disappointed. Not because of the content of the book, but because many of my myths and misconception will be broken.
Rating – 3.5/5
Title/ Cover –
The title sounds interesting as if it is asking gods and men to show some mercy. The cover shows a crown on fire and fire flames scattered with blood everywhere.

Storyline –
The story of three brothers ventured to the human land from the north where early human resided. Their father has been the black-smith king; he was the one who created the first sword. The three brothers climbed to the mountains that were impossible to climb. They crossed the valley that was too dangerous to cross and finally arrived into human land. Then they formed three kingdoms, each brother taking one kingdom for themselves. The eldest took the farmers and skilled men. The middle one took the strongest soldiers. The youngest got whatever remained in the south. But the greed for power, jealousy, rivalry, conspiracy and betrayal turn these peaceful kingdoms into wars.
Will the is peace re-establish again in these kingdoms?

Conclusion –
The plot is divided into three parts. The story is filled with rebellions, drama, wars, rivalry, politics, jealousy, and conspiracy.

This is a historical fantasy about three empires. Over the time people spread and created six cities, and they fought with each other to conquer others kingdoms. The story happening in a foreign land, and the royal bloods have special magic power with them. That’s the quite interesting part in this book. This is full of war, warriors, magic power, king ,kingdom. Prince their rivals ,enemies. This is a trilogy so the story hadn’t finished here.there are so many characters that’s confused me at some times. Other than that this is full fantasy treat for historical lovers.

The first book by Aditya Mathur in this series has a lot of potential. The theme, the premise, the setting is quite fetching and hooks you to the story more than the writing itself.
What I Liked :
The flow and rhythm of the story. The multiple characters which made the book interesting rather than haphazard. And since it was a fantasy book based on three kingdoms, I enjoyed reading it as well.

What I didnt Like :
The imporbability of the scenes. The characters were multiple but were naive and shallow. The writing didn't have much depth to it and the book can do with some editing.

Conclusion :
It is a fantasy book based on three kingdoms with magic, friendship, tyranny and revolution. This is what leads you to read the book and enjoy it as well even though the characters and scenes can be a bit confusing and mostly frustrating.
