A romantic waltz through a city filled with music, passion and coffee.

Evelyn Watt fell in love with Austrian marketing director Rudy Moser the moment he stepped into their Boston firm. With his ice blue eyes and chocolate-melting accent, he is as refined as she imagines his home country to be. When Evelyn finds herself unexpectedly unemployed right before Christmas, she i

Hold on, folks, Rachel McMillan has added contemporary romance to her writing repertoire…and I am here for it! Love in Three Quarter Time is a lilting and delightful romance in a setting as rich and decadent as the coffee its central character, Evelyn, is always drinking. Truly, this novella is a love letter to Vienna with Evelyn falling as deeply for the enchanting world around her as she does the man she meets there. (There’s even an extra jaunt over to Prague just for good measure!) I dare yo ...more

Just a little note that this is NOT an inspy novella. So please read with that in mind. There is no questionable content; but it should not be categorized as inspy fic.

Okay? okay !

A perfect & poignant story of ROMANCE - of history, culture, and the love kind.

Sometimes I approach story with routine as a "book blogger", analyzing things along the way. This is a good habit because I have learned to perceive story differently. BUT, those rare books that just sweep me up to get lost in the story world are the ones that remind me WHY I love reading. Love in Three Quarter Time is such a story -- an atmospheric and eloquent romance with poignancy and depth.

I loved this novella and the way it shared the essence of Vienna. The descriptions are lush, but not overbearing. The love story Between Evelyn and Klaus made me finally understand the romance of Jo and Professer Baehr's connection in Little Women, and of the several passages I highlighted on my Kindle, most of them were wisdom from Klaus. I loved the way the author drew Evelyn into the experience and romance of her time abroad and opened her eyes to the difference between the "idea of an ideal" ...more

I have mixed emotions on this novella. I'm not a huge novella fan, but I enjoy Rachel McMillan's writing style and the cover is lovely so I pre-ordered it.

I was a little confused about what was going on at the beginning. Once Evelyn arrived in Vienna I was on track with the story. I enjoyed the overall story of romance and bits of humor.

Loved it! I've never been to Vienna, but this contemporary romance is steeped in the cafes, the galleries and history of the city. Its practically a love letter to Vienna, and I enjoyed reading it. This almost felt like the kind of novel Jane Austen would write if she lived in modern-day Vienna: smart heroine and two dishy guys, but only one can be a hero. Two thumbs up! (but only one dishy hero.)

Love in Three Quarter Time may be Rachel McMillan's love letter to Vienna, but beyond that it is a love letter to romantics. This is a story for all those who struggle to reconcile the reality of life with the hope of dreams as yet unfulfilled, and perhaps most tantalizingly not yet fully realized. Evelyn is an achingly relatable heroine, and I found myself captivated alongside her, tracing her journey through Vienna's historic streets, falling in love with the romance and history of the city as ...more

This book managed to be true to life and a fairytale at the same time. I was so happy for Evelyn by the end of the book, and had to remind myself she wasn’t a real character! :) The charm and history of Vienna (on my bucket list) flowed through the pages and the romance felt like a dream come true. I reread parts of the book several times...when that happens, you know I loved the book!
I found this story lackluster. As a disclaimer, stories that feature a main character who fancies themselves in love with someone other than the other main character, for almost the entire story, fail to keep my attention. I usually just find myself annoyed and frustrated at someone's lack of EQ. Unfortunately, this story falls into that category.

The heroine was a pining doormat who couldn't figure out what she really wanted in life. I liked the hero but couldn't feel any of the romantic chemist

Dripping with wit, colorful descriptions, and a story about the irreplaceable beauty of lifelong romance, Rachel McMillan has crafted a rich contemporary novella with the reverberant charm of a classic. Love in Three Quarter Time takes the reader on a delightful journey both of imagination and heart, as we travel with the insecure and lonely Evelyn Watt through the elegance of Vienna and the complexities of introspection. With Evelyn as our narrator and Rachel as the wordsmith guiding our tour, ...more

Rachel McMillan has penned a delicious love story, not just between two searching hearts, but she delightfully acquaints the reader with her own romance with the enchanting cities of Vienna and Prague. Architecture, heirlooms, and history come alive with McMillan's prose, as tender love blossoms in an unanticipated tableau that is unique and captivating. Evelyn's vulnerabilities and dreams are tenderly felt, their authenticity providing moments both amusing and poignant. McMillan explores the pr ...more

OHMYGOODNESS. I believe that, right there, was my exact thought once I turned the final pages of this delightful little story! To say that I'd been salivating over this book coming out would be putting it very, very mildly, reader friends. Having already read and loved Ms. McMillan's debut series, I positively knew that I was going to love this one! And I was right. In fact, I think it's her best book yet! I swooned, I grew frustrated, I shook my head, I melted, I sighed happily, and I simply ad ...more

Novellas don’t always work to the advantage of a story because they’re so compressed and compact. That said, one thing they suffer no shortage of is their ability to entertain and charm. Love in Three Quarter Time is no different. It’s an easy read that takes little to no time (even for a turtle reader such as myself) to zip through.

Because of the novella length, the romance isn’t as explored as full-length novels, but that’s not to say, the characters aren’t. Although as a qualifier, this reall

If you’ve ever wanted to go to Vienna but been unable to afford the flight, this book’s your ticket. On the other hand, it could just make you that much more desperate to go! Either way, it’s worth picking up this novella if you’re after a romance that will capture your imagination as well as your heart. I’m talking about “the kind of romance that stretched beyond someone’s lips on her neck or hand in the crook of her arm. The kind that trickled over the rooftops of an age-old city and spun it i ...more

Stunningly romantic, achingly poignant. A fresh romance story with a wonderful heroine who is easy to empathize with (especially for this reader!), and a hero whose heart brought tears to my eyes more than once.

Rachel McMillan's sweet contemporary novella was a splendid Saturday read for a cozy winter day.
Evelyn Watt was such a relatable protagonist for any hopeless romantic introvert. I adored seeing the world from her perspective, humorous pop-culture references and all. Evelyn is opposite two intriguing characters—Rudy and Klaus—who certainly helped keep this romance plugging right along with charm and wit.
As is usual for a McMillan novel, the cities her characters inhabit are a character in and of

This was a delightful novella. One of my favorite parts was reading about places I'd previously read about in the Zion Covenant Series by Bodie Thoene (a series which McMillan also loved). But truly, I loved it for so many reasons.

I've always been a music lover. I played piano and violin growing up and have always been fascinated by the music of Mozart and loved that his home played a role in this book. And I truly loved Klaus' interesting side job and the lengths he went to in order to be so go

This romantic ode to Vienna is just as sweet as Sacher Torte and as lovely as the Staatsoper Opera House. While library shelves everywhere sag with the weight of myriads of novels set in Paris, this is the first novel I’ve found that embraces my favorite city in the whole world, Vienna. Here’s some lovely three quarter time music with a Vienna video tour to give you a feel for the enchanting setting of this story:

What a charming weekend read! I love that a false imitation of romance was held up against a much deeper, more steadfast love. Having lived in Vienna once, I also enjoyed revisiting the city through these characters, and found the details of the setting lovely hallmarks on which to hang this story. McMillan is careful to point out that this is not an inspy genre romance, but there is nothing at all scandalous or racy in the content. It is clean, relatable, and inspirational even without that ind ...more

I LOOOOOVE this story!!! Vibrant descriptions, profound ponderings, and toe-curling kisses captivated my attention and left me dreaming of this story days and weeks after reading it. I want more romance like this!!!! I want love, life, Knightley, Bhauer, and Darcy all wrapped up in a multi-lingual companionable silence and completely comfortable yet surprisingly attractive cable knit sweater. Rich, handsome imitations need not apply.

I borrowed this book from the Kindle Unlimited program.
Love in Three Quarter Time was awesome! I can't say enough good things about it. The descriptions, the atmosphere, the characters, the romance, the food, the coffee! So fantastic! Evelyn is super relatable. And Klaus! My goodness, Klaus! So swoonworthy!

I've always wanted to visit Vienna and this novella has just added to that desire. I LOVED this story and can't recommend it highly enough!
So lovely... poetic writing resulting in experiential reading. Imagination and heart fully engaged, I look forward to next in series.

"For a brief moment, looking up at him, she had the strangest feeling that her life would start and end here. Vienna."

Rachel McMillan is one of those enigmatic authors that I'm always intrigued by. Her Herringford & Watts Mysteries have been on my favorite lists since reading them. I wasn't sure what to expect on her first contemporary romance (not an inspirational category), but I knew it'll be fun. And I was right. I adore Rachel McMillan's writing. She is a fabulous storyteller who captures my interest. I really enjoyed her Herringford and Watts series and can't wait for her next series releasing July 2018 from Thomas Nelson Publishing. So when I heard McMillan was writing a contemporary romance set in Vienna, I jumped at the chance to read it. I was familiar with McMillan's writing style, so I had a good idea what I was getting into.

This was a delightful love story. Evelyn, out of work, is offered a job in Vienna by her former colleague Rudy, who she happens to have fantasied over for the past few years. It's too good an opportunity to miss on a variety of fronts and so they make the trans-Atlantic journey from Boston to the romantic city of Vienna. The project is to assist Rudy with cataloguing his family's antique collection.

Evelyn in familiarising herself with the city meets Klaus, a history academic, at his local cafe:
