During her short career she won the Smarties Prize in 1994 for Dimanche Diller (Harper Collins) and the Guardian Fiction Prize in 1998 for Fire, Bed and Bone (Walker Books); she was twice shortlisted for the Guardian Fiction Prize, in 1994 and 1997. Her progress and development as a writer was watched with interest by publishers, critics and fellow writers alike.

Space Baby is sent from another world to bring the message that Earth's gravitational pull is about to stop working. But first it has to overcome the problems of dribbling, crawling and teething!
Only one review hoe strange,really enjoyed this read on the YouTube channel run by Louise Anne Bateman,out of print audiobooks, which ixa wonderful treasure trove of readings of children's novels, especially from the 80zs and 90s whicb were recorded on cassette...
Clever book ,imagine and amusing,good characters ,much fun, a villain,a lovely dog and great heroines ,plus the hero spacebaby or Moses as he is christened ....
Read by the super Prunella Scales which only adds to the quality.
