Games from Minecraft and Roblox to the Final Fantasyw series and DropMix are all in this gaming annual! You’ll learn tons of new facts about the games, statistics, greatest moments, secrets, characters, developers’ insights, mini-walkthroughs, and more. It truly is a great guide and book! What I liked best about this guide is how it showcased 50+ games all of different types. It made this book great for everyone, because everyone can enjoy something about it! Carefree, fun, and exploring games like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, epic storyline games with amazing graphics like Kingdom Hearts III, and multiplayer battle games to go for that Victory Royale like Fortnite are all included. One thing that I both liked and disliked is how each game had inconsistent categories of information about it. One game might have the Top 5 Characters, while another has Statistics, and another has Certain Secrets. It made each section of “information” specific to the game, like Top 5 Sonic Games for Sonic the Hedgehog, which I liked. But at the same time, I couldn’t find secrets, tips, and tricks for Lego Marvel Superheroes 2, although, I could them for Gran Turismo Sport. Another detail worth mentioning is how the game guide is organized. There were sections of five or so games, and then a Feature section, then a Top 10 section, and then others. It added uniqueness and variation to the guide, but also added a bit of confusion and disorganization. Overall, I gave this non-fiction gaming guide 4 out of 5 stars, because of the lack of organization at times, and unequal distribution of sections of “information” to the different games. However, I would still recommend this book to any and all gamers, especially ages 8-16. Happy Reading and Gaming! Review by Brooke Z., age 12, Delaware Valley Mensa
A comprehensive retrospective of gaming in 2019 presented in an magazine/article style format. The colorful pages and scattered factoid boxes can make each page a little overwhelming, but the content immediately draws the interest of young video game players. I enjoyed reading this book with my 10 year old cousin, who struggled with some of the vocabulary but persevered due to interest, so I think that 10-12 is a good age range for this book.
I loved this book! It had lots of great tips, told me about lots of games I wanted to play, along with plenty of colorful drawings and cool lists. Definitely recommend!
