There has never been a better time to enjoy coffee.

Written by the founders and editors of Sprudge, the premier online outlet for coffee content, this collection of digestible rules–such as darker roast is not always stronger; you reserve the right to cream and

Fantastic little book for those who like coffee but don't know much about it. Short read but it would make for a great gift. I found many of the points refreshing to read about as many of them were working to dispel the snobbery that is so prevalent in specialty coffee today. This one will sit on my coffee table at home. ...more

Whether you work in coffee or appreciate your local coffee shop, you should read this book. Informative, fun and a great book to gift.

Such a great synopsis about the changes, concerns, and joys of our current coffee industry. I’d like to see every coffee shop carry it as something to browse and get some great tidbits whilst drinking that $5 latte. I admit I’m not sure if I would have purchased it for my own if it were not for the opportunity to have the authors sign it! I’m glad I met the founders of

A great little (pun-intended) coffee table book for all the coffee lovers out there, like me :)... it would also make a thoughtful gift (along with a bag of local coffee) for someone who can’t live without their freshly-ground morning cup.

As someone who works in coffee, I enjoyed this book. There wasn’t really any new information for me personally, but I could see it being super interesting for someone who’s either new in the coffee industry or simply a coffee enthusiast. I wish it felt more like coffee table book; something that could sit nicely in your living room waiting to be leafed through on a lazy afternoon. Although the artwork is very cool, it doesn’t quite feel like the type of book one would leave on display. I suppose ...more

“Don’t buy a bag of coffee for under $12. Spend $100-300 on a brewer, and at least $100 on a grinder...”

Definitely not for the frugal or cash-strapped coffee drinker, but some decent tips and history.

Fun and easy to read. Lots of information about how coffee, coffee shops and coffee culture has changed from 10 plus years ago and what that means for coffee drinkers today.

“Coffee is patient and kind. Coffee is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. Coffee is not rude, selfish, and it does not get upset with others [...]. Coffee does not count up wrongs that have been done. Coffee takes no pleasure in evil but rejoices over the truth. Coffee patiently accepts all things—from a quick mug at the diner to a twenty-minute pour-over spectacle. Coffee never ends.”

This book is an amazing tribute to coffee and its culture. It’s educational, witty, funny

This book won't please or persuade genuine coffee experts or those who aren't coffee drinkers. But for those of us in the middle, who like coffee and go to coffee houses at least ocasionally, this book is a terrific tool for getting more educated -- it provides info on the cultivation, processing, brewing, selling, terminology, and consumption of coffee, all in the form of easily readable 'rules' and two-page articles. The rules say stuff like "Iced coffee and cold brew are sisters, not twins" a ...more

I was gifted this delightful book for Christmas and it made for a nice, light read. There is a lot of discussion on topics surrounding coffee and coffee itself, but no topic is delved too deeply. I wish there was a bit more detail on actually brewing coffee and more in depth on brewing tools and processes. While they are mentioned in the book, nowhere will you read the author's opinions on the perfect coffee to water ratio or different brewing methods / times with an aeropress. The book is writt ...more

The book, amidst its generally "listicle"-feel does provide some interesting information on coffee, and it also has some pretty great illustrations.

Otherwise, it sticks to controversial opinions like "it's okay to use cream and sugar," having a drip machine at home is cool, if you get the $100+ bonavita machine, and Chemexes are great.

The good news is you can knock it out in about an hour.

A nice, quick read about the ever-changing world of coffee production and consumption. It touches on things like globalism, colonialism, at-home brewing practices, cafe culture, and even types of coffee cups.

Overall a fun book

The phrase I hated most about the book “It’s the opposite of the gavage practices that go into making foie gras—admittedly cruel, but with undeniably delicious results. Kopi Luwak has no such payoff.”

Introductory, easy to read, fun and full of curiosity in a beautiful edition.

This book should be read to everyone wanting to learn about coffee. I liked the way of authors presented the topics as an introduction since the fruit to the final product.

This book is definitely for people who is taking a baby step into coffee life.
As for me, there is nothing new in here.
Should put two stars for it but the cover and illustration inside added a plus to this

A lot of little gems among the usual fare. The section on rules for the cafe was by far the best, as well as the trinitarian homage at the end of Rule 54. Our cup certainly runneth over.
