Before I get started, let me just say, read this book now...you won't be disappointed. Moving on...
As expected from a YA dystopian novel, this book has many of the elements I love to see, while still having providing a unique view on an all too believable future. I really liked the *old* newspaper clippings that give you glimpses into the decisions made that caused society to evolve into the one found in this story. Even though this is a shorter book than something like Hunger Games or Unwanteds, it isn't short on details, action, or development. The writer has done an amazing job of maximizing every word...there is no fluff...nothing goes to waste. There is even a succinct, but detailed explanation of exactly how the value of each life in this world is calculated. I will say however, that a large benefit to the reader is that while you can get a clear picture with little more than what is provided on the page, the readers is given a great opportunity to see the world with their own imagination.
There are several different *sets* in this story, all well described so you can easily imagine what it feels like being in each place. There is enough mystery to the characters that you don't always know what they're going to do, and yet you learn enough about them to really care what happens to each one and have expectations of them. The society that has been created here feels very thought out and completely believable given the progression provided.
I don't want to give anything away about the story...this is a review, not a summary. I think it suffices to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I sit in eager anticipation of future installments. The author has created characters and a world that have me hooked, and I am hanging off of every word. Until next time Kira...you are worth bleeding for...

Unexpected
This coming of age story is also a hero story. For those damaged and imperfect members of a society that values the cosmetic aesthetic of beauty, we are reminded that beauty and strength come not from what one can see but from a strong sense of self. Kira, the main character, though beautiful, cannot see herself past her illness. Society can't either. However, when she steps outside of her own self pity and sees herself through Harley's eyes, she begins to see that her life is worth a fight. And like real life, when you are ready for whatever is headed your way, the right people come into your life and Wilder is exactly what is needed. More please....

Enjoyable and a great comment on our society's obsession with beauty and health. Great dystopian read!

It was like The Fault in Our Stars meets The Giver. Great story, I hope there is a sequel, because I have a lot of questions!!
