I had a hard time finding this book romantic. Partly because of the lack of sexual tension, but mostly because of Cadence’s constant self-image issues and Xander’s quiet “she’s not like the gorgeous models I normally sleep with, but that makes her special” and “the sexy women I’ve slept with are thoughtless shells and Cadence actually has a brain, that’s sweet” thoughts. (I don’t know if I’m more offended for the heroine or his previous sexual partners.)

“She was so pretty, maybe even beautiful [

I was given a copy of this to review.

I'm glad that I decided to read this book. It was very enjoyable. They both had some rough lives. I was glad that they met. They were really able to help each other out. Most important they weren't alone in the end.

If you are looking for a fast paced story with good characters, look no further. This story has characters you will fall in love with. Cadence is a curvy, smart confident woman that tells it like it is. she is sassy and fun to be around. Xander is trying to live off the grid. His music career failed and he is licking his wounds. He has no TV, no internet, and no phone. He does make a run to LA once a week or so to scratch his itch. Together they are a cute couple. The ban

The words are bold black writing. This is the first book I read where it was bold. I do not like the bold words. I like the story though, The bold black is causing my eyes more strain, It is causing me to squint while reading. I guess the glare of the lap top even though I turned it down, and the letters are to dark.

Every girl wants/needs a Xander in their life. :) He's living the life of a recluse (or close to it) after a failed music career. Only interested in casual flings, and loses interest if the girls start getting clingy. He is definitely not looking for love. Doesn't want the distraction or mess of being involved with anyone. He's even tempted to leave that stranded woman on the side of the road. Almost...but he's not heartless. Enter Cadence. Twisted ankle and all. She's sassy, smart and curvy. Sh ...more

I give Stay by Emma Nichols Five Stars. This is a stand alone novel and very well written and a quick read. I did not want to put the book down.

Cadence Miller is a hard worker that will not take crap from anyone. She is independent, has a great sense of humor, and has the perfect amount of curves. When she takes a trip with her horrible boss she finds herself dumped on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere because she refused him.

A 4.5 star read with totally sympathetic MCs and 💗 romance that, surprisingly, saved the culmination of their love for AFTER they really got to know each other! What a refreshing change. Xander, the hero, is a savior in jeans with a prepper lifestyle for Cadence, a beleaguered agent's assistant desperately trying to live up to her mother's last wishes. She's arrived at a crossroads i

Just because Xander stopped hearing the music in his head a long time ago, didn't mean he had given up. He just needed to regroup, refocus, and reinvent himself, and what better place to do that than underground! Things were going along as planned, then one eventful weekend his life took another ninety degree shift as he headed out of town and back to the desert, alone. That's when he saw her. Cadence had plenty of responsibility and very little financial compensation for her hard work. While t ...more

A quick, love at first sight read. Both characters are a little broken and very likeable. Good storyline too.

Cadence is a strong willed young woman who has a life plan. When she refuses her bosses advances, she finds herself abandoned on the side of the road on the middle of nowhere. No cell service and no houses around. She attempts to walk her way back home to L.A. and ends up tripping and spraining her ankle.

Xander Cross moved to the middle of nowhere Arizona after his music career failed. H

This book jumps right in to the good stuff. To me, it even seemed a little clunky at first, or maybe just improbable... but that perception could have easily been tainted by my own cynicism 😜. Despite that, it all came together beautifully and pieces of the characters backstory were revealed throughout which I think is actually a good thing for readers that get bored with several pages of character building before the main action begins. I really identified with the 2 main characters even though ...more

I am not sure what I was expecting, but I can truthfully say that I was not expecting to enjoy this book so much.

Xander was sweet. Cadence was organized. Their banter was fun, and funny.

This was a quick read. A sexy, sweet romance. I loved Miss Neesey, and finished this book with a smile on my face.

If you are looking for a book that is full of realistic occurrences (although who is to say this isn't someone's reality), are opposed to instalove (or have no belief in an almost instantaneous conn

Msg Nichols is crazy romance genius!!

I'm beginning to acquire quite a nice Emma Nichols collection, and each one I read is named "my new favorite." I think, however, that "Stay" is truly my new fave as are Xander and Cadence. At first I th I ought 4 days was just too short a time for a guy like Xander to declare his love for Cadence, but these two are very unique characters and the speedy length it takes them to "know" when it's right is not out of the realm of realty for them. I received this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.

Emma has done it again. I adored the characters of Xander & Cadence, how caring Xander was when we see him first with Cadence, even though wasn't too sure how when we first see him. As we only saw how he was to women he wasn't connected to.
Then Cadence, straight away, came across as a strong but also trusting woman well, especially towards Xander. And gawd did he WANT her & NOT JUST WANT her, but WANT, WANT her for life. W

I'd Stay!

I love the way this author writes. Xander was dreamy and Cadence, well sometimes I wanted to smack the back of her head, but mostly I just loved her. Both broken and jaded, but they were the missing piece to each other's puzzle. Loved the build up and although they fell in love kinda fast, the way it was written made it believable. They were funny together and the way Xander wanted to wait because she was different made me smile, although I was as frustrated as I'm sure Cadence was! I r

This book hit me with an emotional rollercoaster. It’s sweet and tragic and frustrating and adorable all pretty at the same time. I was instantly charmed by Xander. For a man who never wanted to keep a woman forever, he certainly knows how to cherish one and lavish on the affection. He might even be my new gold-standard for book-boyfriend fantasy material. Cadence, on the other hand, made me want to scream. I can understand what it meant to her, but her blind adherence to “the plan” jeopardizes ...more

I am a bit trouble with this story. I cannot connect with the characters and there are mostly no chemistry between them. They think and act weird to me. They both know better but overthink the things.
He is used to modeltype women and does not know what to do now. She has an insecureness that makes it all a strange story. He likes her more that she him. Or he acts more to it. It all confused and annoyed me at times and it is a very slow story to read.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved the storyline and I thought it was very well written. My only small complaint is that there were a few little inconsistencies that I found a bit odd, and there wasn't a strong enough basis for the dominant romantic thread -- I would have liked even one extra chapter to give the individual characters a little more depth so the ignited romance held a bit more realism and weight, particularly given how young they are (in my mind, anyway). All that said, I really d ...more

I really enjoyed this fast paced book. Cadence Miller and Xander Cross were great characters, both with their own issues. Poor Cadence she was left on the side off the road by her boss. All because she refused his advances. Here comes Xander he was a musician from LA and fled after his was let down by his manager. Now he has trust issues and can't seem to find his love for music anymore. Until he meets the no nonsense Cadence. They clash at first and fi

I don't really like this one. The main characters are both a little on the strange side, and I know the author tries to give them backgrounds that explain it, but they're still just a little off. The book is a very slow burn for me. At 50% of the way through the book, they have kissed once or twice, but that's it. Xander is way more into Cadence than she is to him. Cadence is insecure about herself, and it shows in everything she does. It gets annoying after a while. This is a first for me from ...more

This story is well written and the plot well developed. The writing does tend to get long and boring at points. I actually had to get up and walk away because I lost interest. I get Cadence and her reluctance in this relationship. Cadence is stupid, living in LA and among the self serving actors should have made her protect herself better, by telling Hayden to find a restroom and not invite him into her apartment to use hers. This is plain stupidity in this day and age. Otherwise, this story is ...more

Xander's life took a different turn the day he found Cadence is a crumpled heap on the side of the road. He'd sworn off women but one look in her eyes. he knew she was a keeper. She had been dumped there by her boss after she refused his advances and was lucky to be found by Xander, a down on his luck musician. They were two people that were made for each other and fate brought them together. A sweet romance that was fun to read. I read a reader copy via Hidden Gems and voluntarily chose to writ

A Review of Stay by Emma Nichols

Xander and Cadence - 4 Stars

I absolutely LOVE the cover for this book! Both of these characters have had it rough and each of them handles it totally different from the other. There are some really good parts to the story and some that could have been adjusted for a better fit, but overall it was good.
