Jeeves Reads Romance
More erotica than romance, Unsuitable is well written and the story moves quickly, but will likely leave fans of romance unsatisfied. The book follows Jordan, a woman in her late thirties who married an older man for love when she was very young. Now a widower, Jordan is not sure she’s ready for a relationship, but her body is demanding that she have sex. When she encounters Clay, there is something familiar about him but her attraction demands that she act on her urges without asking questions. ...more

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the first in a new series - and I am really hopeful that Veronica gets her chance ... Jordan didn't give her a chance to explain herself!

I very much enjoyed Lavinia Kent's Bound and Determined series, so was fascinated to see how her skills translated to a present day romance. I was suitably impressed - without a doubt her skills of describing hot and steamy moments translates just fine!

Apart from the hot and

May/December relationships aren't really my thing but the blurb for this book drew me straight in.
A woman who was married to a wealthy older man enters into a relationship with a younger man once widowed? The element of the forbidden, the emotional baggage, the obstacles to overcome... It should have made for an epic story.
Unfortunately, it wasn't.
It was a very average story.

Jordan is only 10 years older than Clay (and she's still under 40) so it's not like the age difference is dramatic. The

Jordan has lived her life the focus of gossip as a gold digger for marrying a wealthy man almost 20 years her senior. Now a widow who's body only tingles for Clay a man who is about 10 years her junior. Clay and Jordan are so sexually charged whenever they are around one another. Trying to stay on the down low is difficult when no one seems to want them together but them. Clay worked hard to build up Jordan self esteem and tell her how amazing she is. It took Jordan believing in herself to make ...more

I recently downloaded this title from NetGalley and was looking forward to an easy, sexy romance to sink into. The story is about Jordan who has been widowed for a few years and her friend trying to get her back in the saddle again, so to speak. She briefly sees a man’s ass, and yes, that’s what I meant to say, at a party and suddenly feels a spark within that she thought had long since died. Then she sees said ass again in an elevator and they basically mount one another then and there. Turns o ...more

Jordan Robinson has been the talk of the social circle before, and it's not really something she has ever wanted to repeat. When she met and married her much older husband, everyone had something to say about it, and were quick to place labels. But now that her husband has passed, and appearances don't necessarily need to be maintained, she has slipped out of the circle and maintained a lower profile. She still tends to the charities she is in charge of, but that is about the only time she mingl ...more

This is the first in the Forbidden Cove series. I found that it was a bit slow with the take-off. Then it had a steady pace once you got going. You have a very well off woman who married her husband and he was older than her. Now, she is a thirty-eight-year-old widow and looking for something.

I found a Jordan to be the woman that wanted to have sex again but just wasn't compatible with anyone. She felt no sparks. Every time she talked to someone she was looking for that spark. Her friend even t

When I think of author Lavinia Kent, I always think of historical romance. So, when the opportunity to read and review UNSUITABLE came along, I was intrigued, and quick to jump at the chance.

Firstly, I have to say, this book is about as far from historical romance as it could be. I would describe UNSUITABLE as contemporary erotic romance, and possibly even steamier than I was anticipating. Because, let's face it, a book with an older heroine and a younger man, both of them successful and attrac

#1 in the Forbidden Cove contemporary erotica series

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked Kent's first attempt at a contemporary erotica novel, but I didn't love it. The sex scenes were well written, but the story was too dependent on them and didn't offer enough other action to keep the story moving. Jordan rightfully dislikes being the focus of people's jealousy, but she obsesses about it and goes overboard to keep her relationship a secret.

This book is about 38 year old widow, Jordan Robinson, who falls for 28 year old, Clay Windsor, who happens to be an ex high school boyfriend of her step-daughter. Jordan tries to fight the pull of her attraction to Clay because she knows that it will lead to more negative gossip and publicity which she doesn't want after being subjected to it for so long with her first marriage to a much older man. However Clay makes her feel things that she has never felt and they cannot seem to stay away from ...more

Jordan was the older woman!

Widowed Jordan Robinson hadn’t dated since her husband had died and she had absolutely no interest until someone attracted her interest at a party she was at. Jordan ran into the guy that attracted her attention after a date that had fizzled and she had a one night stand with him. The guy was Clay Windsor who had dated her step-daughter in high school but they had broken up and Jordan hadn’t seen Clay since and she hadn’t recognized him. Jordan hadn’t want to date Clay

New series from a great author. I was used to read her regency romances and this was my first contemporary romance. Oh boy, was I in for a treat. I was so into this story, I didn't want it to end. Older woman with younger man doesn't really appeals to me but I gave it a try. The heroine was 10 years older but I like the fact that she was still in her thirties instead of forties or older. The pace was really good and the sexiness is steamy hot. I loved the ending because it was a bit different fr ...more

Unsuitable by Lavinia Kent was a sexy and steamy older woman/younger man romance. Jordan Robinson married a man she loved, but he was older. She knew people would talk, but now that she is a widow, she leads a quiet life. Then Clay enters her life, and everything changes. She does not want any more gossip, but he makes her feels things she never did before. Can she let him in, or will she walk away? A hot and steamy story with lots of chemistry. I am excited to read more in this series.

2 stars is being generous.
This book is not plot-driven or character-driven...it’s sex-driven. The plot isn’t even that good. I found myself skipping the sex scenes (which there were a lot of) because there was nothing extraordinary about them - they were just average. It was a very average read.
It took over 60% of the book for the characters to realize that, maybe, they should be using contraceptives. Like, why? Why did it take that long?

I liked that there was little beating around the proverbial bush. It's clear Jordan and Clay are hot for each other so let the hot action begin. Her insecurities get tiresome but how she handles them just reveals the complex human she is. Also, their easy banter and straightforward communication makes their story relatable (money bags and beach homes notwithstanding). I liked this book and would like to read more in this series. Thank you for this copy, this is my honest opinion.

4-5 stars. A very hot, steamy romance that was a nice break between my thrillers! I loved that a younger man was seeking the older woman, because I think it should be considered just as normal as a younger woman and older man! This was my first by this author, but will definitely be looking for book 2 in this amazing, sexy series!
Will let the members of Chapter Chatter Pub know about it!

Clay finally gets his fantasy fulfilled when he gets Jordan in his bed. She is still fragile from the death of her husband and the gossip she has endured. Being together is a lesson in learning to love herself and living her fullest life. Filled with steamy scenes and a very hunky guy

She was the older woman he loved to fantasize about. Now, 10 years later, he's all grown up and running a successful company. A very hot Mrs. Robinson and a now, very grown-up Clay set these pages on fire! Written in the 3rd person, it almost given a voyeur type feel when I read this book. Watching the chase, and push and pull between these two made for a fast paced book. Jordan and Clay are two that you will come to know, adore, and root for. Can Clay finally achieve what he's dreamed of since he was seventeen? Can Jordan realize that Clay is not a teenager anymore, but a smoking hot grown man who knows what he wants? ...more

I love the whole reverse May/December concept. I felt that there seemed to be more maturity in the younger man, than in the older woman. The insecurities in Jordan were completely understandable, given the gossip and cattiness she endured with her older husband, but I think the way in which she dealt with them were juvenile.. There were a couple times when I had to walk away from the story because of the "best" friend, who seemed to do nothing but antagonize the lead character, while pretty much ...more
