A captivating collection of short stories from (mostly northern) California game wardens. Great stories written in a very appealing way. Each chapter is one story. Every story is a page turner. Terry Hodges is a local author, and I'm going to look for the rest of his books. I love the great outdoors in northern California, and reading true stories from places I've been to, adds to my own experience of the area, and gratitude to those who take such excellence care of our wildlife.

Hodges, a former game warden, takes the reader along as he and his colleagues pursue game violators in California. It is very interesting to read about how hard some individuals work to break conservation laws and what techniques game wardens use to catch them. Conservations that want to protect wildlife with find some happiness that the game warden catch outlaws.
