I'm not rating because it's been a while since I've read it but I support the topic--exposing children to the natural world in this instance of sea turtles laying eggs on a beach.

Kudos to the writer and illustrator for getting the book published. That's an accomplishment.

This little 1993 book gives the basics on loggerhead sea turtles. It does mention mating, and shows two turtles making the turtle with two backs, but nothing gratuitous.

The text is very simple. After the main text, there's one page of facts that goes into more detail, including how to help sea turtles. It's the full-color artwork that's the star of the show here.

This book was so well done that my little one easily enjoyed the story and the education. The afterward is lovely...informative and a motivating environmental awareness without shoving it down your throat. I didn't expect my little one to stay attentive during the author's follow up notes, but he did!
