He died that night, alone, in the rain, in the dark, the boy that called me baby girl.
I was only seventeen; we were going to be together forever.

On his way to pick me up for prom, he swerved. I'll never know what made him do it, what killed the boy I'd loved my whole life. With roses clutched in his hand, he bled out in icy wetness all alone.

His best friend is here thou

An interesting story with loveable characters but it just didn't hit the mark with me for some reason. I struggled with Phoenix's cajun vernacular (I assume that's what it was) and as a result, I found myself skimming through parts of the story. That said, he was a sweet character and his bond with Embry had all the feels.

I did find all of the justifications for Embry and Pheonix to be together after Codrick's death a little difficult to fathom especially when you take into

When it comes to CM Stunich's books, I always feel in two boats. I either love hers or I struggle with them. Baby Girl was one that I struggled my way through. I think it was first the fact that she was called "Baby Girl" as I hate that nickname, it is one of my pet hates. It's like is she going to call the guy she is with Daddy ??. The book though does give you a massive OMG moment and instant emotional wave as the main female character is waiting on prom night with her best friend Phoenix and ...more

Wow...what an emotional read this was for me. I honestly didn't think it would be, but I was a little emotionally drained for the first half but in a good way!

Embry lost the love of her life at the age of just seventeen. Suddenly all the plans she made with him and their best friend Phoenix for their future don’t matter to her. Nothing matters anymore. She tumbled into a pit of darkness that she can’t escape so she does the only thing she can and runs. Moving to a different city should help glue the broken pieces of Embry together again but that’s not the case. Returning home a year later, she’s still the broken girl she was and there’s sti

CM is one of my all time favorite author that no matter what she writes I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will absolutely devour it. Baby Girl will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride that you will not want to get off of. I think everyone will fall in love with Phoenix Benoit, the sexiest Cajun you will ever meet. Embry & Phoenix’s loss is heartbreaking and reading them struggle, you can feel every emotion that the characters are going through. Beautifully written story of lo ...more

“WARNING: Don't open unless you're prepared to ugly cry, but also ready to read a story of hope and new love, a love that was there all along but patient enough to wait. This is a book about grief, about loss, but also about fresh starts and new beginnings. The ride is sad, a tumultuous twist of feelings that gets ugly at times ... but the ending is a happy one.”

So, yeah. This warning is what pulled me in, because I LOVE books with all the feels and I usually love her books. However, I can

I really enjoyed this new story by C.M. Stunich. It was different from her usual books, not just because it’s not reverse harem, what she writes mostly lately but think it’ different from her earlier stories as well.

Baby girl is a fast paced, emotional and mostly raw romance, not as much teetering on the edge of taboos but still representing quite a few unconventional relationship elements. I think the warning in the beginning of the book is phased in an especially brilliant way. It sums up the

BABY GIRL is a new adult, contemporary standalone and probably my most favorite story by author C.M. Stunich so far. This book had me in it's clutch with the prologue alone...I was crying ten minutes in! (Thanks for the warning, Ms. Stunich!!)

Phoenix, Embry and Codrick were best friends since childhood. And although they all loved each other deeply, it was always supposed to be Codrick and Embry together. (This is NOT a love triangle, there's no cheating or menage situations!) When tragedy strik

I have read a few C.M. Stunich books before and usually know what I’m getting myself into but after the last book I tried, Elements Of Mischief, I was kind of worried that this was also going to be a bit of a disappointment. Thankfully I really didn’t need to worry because Baby Girl was back to the standard that I was looking for.

At the beginning of this book, there is a warning that you may cry ugly tears and I kind of scoffed and then, of course, ended up sobbing uncontrollably. It gets right

Baby Girl was a really sweet but tragic story. This story's told through dueling points of view. Embry LeBlanc's life completely changes on the night of Prom. Her boyfriend Codrick dies in a car accident on the way to pick her up. Their best friend Phoenix is there with her. They are both heartbroken and destroyed. Embry can't handle anything and ends up running away to New York City to try to escape the pain. She returns home because her father had a minor heart attack.

Baby Girl is a story of love, grief, and forgiveness packed between bouts of action, mystery, and danger. Set in Louisiana, Pheonix and Embry have always considered themselves soulmates - of the best friend variety - until a tragedy forces them apart, and ultimately, a year later brings them together. Suddenly those "friendly" touches and teasing words don't feel so confined to the friend zone any longer. Before long, they find themselves wrapped up in some dangerous activities which

Baby Girl is a standalone emotional romance from author C.M. Stunich.  I was immediately drawn into this exciting and unique story, which is set in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Ms. Stunich’s writing is so well done, that I felt like I was there with Phoenix and Embry.  I must tell you that Phoenix is one hot man and I ultimately fell for him.  I love his Cajun accent, and Ms. Stunich did a fabulous job of immersing me in everything!  I

If you want a book full of feels, this is it!!! A word of warning: you may cry. Alright, you probably will cry, as in I totally did.

From beginning to end, I really felt these characters. All their pain and heartache. So beautifully written. Stunnich has very quickly become one of my all time favorite authors with her ability to create relatable, honest characters in worlds that are easy to imagine as you read.

This isone of my favorite CM books! This story has heartbreak, healing, and bloody underground fighting. It definitely brings all the feels. The emotions that Embry experiences seem so genuine. I loved reading about the relationship Codrick, Embry and Phoenix had. Phoenix has to be one of my favorite male leads. I loved that he never gave up on Embry and always wanted to best for her. Oh, the feels...

CM Stunich writes a lot really, really well, but there’s just something about how she depicts pain and grief that just gets me every time. She does a phenomenal job writing heartache and loss and just hurt that makes your heart clench with the MC’s, and your eyes well up with tears along with Embry as well. This story follows Embry after losing the love of her life, and her struggle to, not just move on, but survive in the aftermath. Her best friend Phoenix tried to help, but he’

This is an emotional story of how love changes and grows, even from the deepest pain.

After her fiancé dies, Embry is convinced she will never be normal, never be whole again. Pushing away her family and closest friend, she runs away from it all to college. An emergency visit home reopens all the wounds she's kept hidden, but many surprises await her as she, reluctantly, begins letting in that close friend she ran away from 416 days before.

The author handled the issues of grief, young love, soulm

Such a sad beginning to an amazing story.

What happens when one of 3 best friends dies? Embry and Phoenix find out the heart break that comes along with the death of a loved one. Codrick was Embry's fiancé and soul mate and Phoenix's best friend.

We get to see Embry and Phoenix go through the stages of grief and and eventually find each other again.

I wish that we could have had had a prologue of Codrick before the moment that changed everything. I think it would have made the story a bit more e

Their story is one of dreadful sorrow and amazing love! I couldn't put it down! Cry baby

Oh man. That prologue. CM has done it yet again. Her work is absolutely amazing, with each book I read, I think her writing can’t get any better. But I’m always wrong. Baby girl is heart wrenching, gut punchingly ( yes I made that word up) amazing. You feel every emotion they feel. Every heart break. Every bubble of laughter. Embry and Phoenix go through so much in their young lives, but managed to find their way back to each other in the end.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty ...more
