Irritated Dragon

Rate this book
With five assets now in his care and one on the brink of death, agent Zeke Price has to balance the safety of his slaves with the goals of his mission. His two youngest slaves - temperamental Ruby and untested fighter Red - are in dire need of training, but both his trainers are out of commission. His newest asset, a medical scholar called Lee, could be the piece that Zeke needs to get his mission back on track. Or, with his keen insight and strong principles, he could derail it even further.

After the delightful experience of the first three books, this fourth was a disappointment. There was hardly any plot development. On page the characters talk talk talk, think think think. 290k words of... nothing much happening.

I planned to exit this series at the end of this fourth book, but then came the last two-three chapters that against all odds renewed my desire to read more. Because the characters are engaging and apparently I'm not ready to let them go yet.

This is my least favorite long leash book. It's so long and nothing truly happens except for them sitting down sipping tea, or sitting down to talk feeling for pages and pages and it's just so frustrating sometimes. It could be because the newly introduced character 'Lee' is my least favorite and I,can't stand him. I probably wouldn't have minded much if Zeke was drinking all that tea with Zero. But with Lee being introduced as Zeke's new rock and 're one's I just couldn't take it.
All that being said, it's still among my favorites. I rarely find slavefics that suit my taste and when I do and tend to hold onto them with nails and teeth. The structure of the story is solid, the characters are 'mostly' lovable, I rarely see grammar or spelling mistakes, the concept is quite unique and new.
Totally recommend.

Yes, it's long and yes, sometimes not much happens. but I think it reflects an important part of the big picture. many things just need patience. and to muster this patience and not lose his way is just an important part of zeke s way, which he must go if he wants to manage to smash that slave ring and save his assets. I also didn't like Lee from the beginning, but after i read all 4 parts from the beginning and in one go i really started to like him, so i like this book as much as the others now....i am really excited for what is about to come in the next books... i love it sooo much
