I love a good rockstar romance. What can I say, sometimes I need a break from cowboys and billionaires!

We meet Blade, who is incredibly sweet and incredibly damaged. He's addicted to heroin. The author managed to give us a very honest look at addiction and the constant struggle of recovery. I appreciated the opportunities we got to see Blade truly vulnerable and all the times he leaned on Crys for support. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with Blade! Read More

This is the story of an innocent, naive girl making her way through the hard core life of rock and roll and putting her heart on the line for a bad boy rocker who she knows will probably break her heart.

Crys always thought she wanted to marry a sweet guy and live the white picket fence life. Then she gets a job offer as a babysitter/pretend girlfriend for Blade, a member of the world famous rocker band, Smidge. She basically needs to keep him from getting into trouble as his wild behaviour is g
She was in the right place at the right time to take a chance on living a dream while learning about life, love and most importantly, herself. Chrys Murphy was going to be paid to be a troubled rock star’s “girlfriend.” Blade, a talented guitarist in the hot band, Smidge, has let his drug addiction and out of control lifestyle become public knowledge. Chrys’ job is to be his girlfriend and his keeper. She is responsible for keeping him on the straight and narrow.

What she finds is a young man ove

I read this book shortly after it's release two years ago, and somehow have not reviewed it! So, in anticipation of the newest entry in the Smidge series I've reread RSH and was reminded why I loved this story so much the first time.

Blade, the lead guitarist for arena rock band Smidge, is struggling. He hates the trappings of his fame, the eagle eyes of the press and paparazzi, and the "dumbing down" of his music for the record label. Adding that to his difficult upbringing, and he's spiraling

Why is it that good girls are so attracted to bad boys? Honestly, by the middle of this book, I could see why Chys, Blade's hired keeper/girlfriend fell so hard for this talented, yet very lonely rock star. I read the book in one night and it was a wonderful read. It captured the struggle of drug abuse and the effect it has on all involved. A testament to the power of love! ...more

This is your innocent girl meets bad boy rocker. The story itself started off a bit slow and the plot was a bit cliche. About half way through it got a bit better and I ended liking it.

I edited this book for my friend Kella, so it's not really fair for me to write a traditional review. I will say that I've now read it 3 times (some parts even more) and loved every moment. You virgin readers are in for a real treat! ...more

Fun read

Fun Rocker book, quickly read. This is a story about a very innocent college student, Crys (Crystal) who by a random set of circumstances gets to meet her favorite band at a meet & greet after seeing them for the 1st time in concert. She connects for a few moments with her favorite guitarist, the sexy, Blade. He's been around the block quite a few times & has some serious issues with partying & addiction, but she is drawn to him.

Crys & Blade had an instant connection which was noted by

Thanks to and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
This book is awesome! The story line was original and at times heartbreaking but wonderful to read. These characters, who the writer evokes such raw emotions from and gave inner strength to the ones who needed it the most. I wanted more at the end, I wanted an epilogue with more about Chris and Crys. I loved this book and I didn't know I needed to clear my schedule to read this book all in one sitting because I was so anxious for

I don't remember the last time a book had me so enthralled that I spent the entire night reading. From start to finish I was captivated, wondering where the story would go next. I was surprised how easy I found it to connect with the main character Crys and the exciting opportunity presented to her by a world-famous rock band.

Loved the pacing, character development and conclusion. Looking forward to the next release from Kella :)

An all-round lovely, well written, story.

The author threads close to the implausible line but never crosses it giving the story a high octane fantasy feel while still being stemmed in reality.

Both characters are well rounded without the need for too much back story. There is obvious attraction on both sides to begin with, fuelled by both their pasts, but we're left to fill that in ourselves which I feel is nice and gives the book a very un-fussy feel.

I loved Rock Star's Heart! This is usually not my genre, but Kella Campbell really drew me in with her depiction of Crys and the band with each interaction. I even know someone that reminds me of Marigold.....which is kinda crazy! lol I found that the story flowed perfectly, having me wanting more after every turn. The feelings of certain situations (not to give anything away ) were spot on and that really helped put me in the story as I read. Great read! I can't wait to see more from Kella in t ...more

Well done rockstar type book!! It's not even as dirty as it could be but the character that Crys falls for is really in bad shape and his PR think she can keep an eye on the guitarist. The rest of the band seem to fade in comparison with Blade's antics.

The plot and development is above average. It's not a perfect tale but I've reviewed the stars accordingly. I don't think the characters stand a chance if it were real life. Wow, and they've toned down the horrors of his problem because I think t

Rock Star’s Heart is Kella Campbell’s first novel. What a fantastic story. Her storyline was compelling and I absolutely loved Blade and Crys as well as the the band and crew. Fingers crossed and hopeful to see more from this group of friends. Loved it!!

I enjoyed this rock romance. It was different and unique in a lot of ways. I loved that it started at the beginning of the romance. I enjoy those stories the most. Even though the band is well-established and famous. The love story starts here.

I enjoyed the characters. I found the young heroine cute and likeable. While she was a bit naive at first, she did grow and develop into quite the spunky leading lady. Our hero, Blade the guitarist, played the part of the gorgeous, yet authentic, addicted,

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
When it comes to romances set in the rock star world, I can never seem to get enough. They're my addiction, and with this new-to-me author's series starter, it's a satisfying addition to my bookshelf. It's a heavy read at times though as it realistically deals with addiction as the young woman hired to watch over the rocker trying to overcome his issues starts falling for him at the same time.

Crys Murphy is a bit naive when readers first meet her, very sexually curious, and a bit clueless in man

Great read!

I had not heard of this author but found this book in a group I belong to. Boy, am I glad! This is an outstanding book, a story that starts out as many rock romance stories do. But it takes a few unexpected turns and becomes freaking awesome! Can't wait for more!

5 Electrified Guitars for Rock Star's Heart

I have had this one sitting on my Kindle for far too long, and have no idea how I let that happen! Loved almost everything about it and couldn't put it down once I started it....who needs sleep? Crys and Blade and the rest of Smidge were much more endearing than my normal dreams. It's not all sunshine, rainbows and unicorns but the realistic descriptions of addiction are necessary. The duality of the rock star's personalities is showcased very well in t

Kella Campbell is a new-to-me author, and I always get really excited before I read anything from a new-to-me author. You just can’t have too many 1-click authors, you know? But I almost always tone down my excitement right away. Hope is a dangerous, dangerous thing, y’all, and I’ve been let down more times than I care to count by new-to-me authors. I’m pleased to say that Rock Star’s Heart didn’t let me down. Was it

Crys was at the arena with a couple of her best friends for a Smidge concert. Than Three guys who had tickets next to their seats came up. One was adam and he offered to buy them a beer and then they switched seats until the girls each had a guy next to them. Crys was dealing with some vertigo as she looked how far down the stage was. The guy next to her was Rhys who was an actor. Rhys and the girls got separated when leaving their seats to exit the arena. Rhys had asked Crys for her number and ...more

Holy smokes! It's been a long time since a read a book that I literally could NOT put down! I enjoyed this so much! What does it say about me loving damaged rock stars? This ranks up with Toni Kenyon and Jade Jamison's books!!

This story is about Crys who is hired on as Blade's babysitter, for lack of a better word. They need to keep his antics low key and out of the news. She is already a huge fan of the group so this is a dream come true. He's not happy about her.....but she seems to make his

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance, New Adult

I wasn't sure about this, I'm way past New Adult age, closer to Old Adult, and find many of these books are just too unbelievable, and for me the story has to feel a bit real. But I have a weakness for rock star reads so decided to try this.
I was a bit worried when it started with some of the weird, slightly cliché, sentences, and when I read a little later the lead singer is shouting out /2we are d

5 Rocking Stars!

Crys is a college student who gets the opportunity of a lifetime ... pose as a rock star’s girlfriend for a year to help with his image. But Crys didn’t know that Blade was a heroin addict and that she would be responsible to keep him off the stuff. There is an instant chemistry between them, but Crys knows that Blade is not the relationship type. She will be tested to all the limits!

I could not put this book down! This isn’t your rock star turned instantly good book ... no it’s

I enjoyed the story, it started out as your standard rockstar romance but is still just serious enough to keep the reader from considering it as all fluff.  We get a flawed hero and the woman who wants to support him.  The subjects are serious but the characters don't pretend to be perfect.  I can't wait to read the next one. This review was originally posted on Books In Brogan

Rock stars heart is quite the story. At first it seems really fairy tale like but it gets real and fast. What starts out as a fantasy for Crys ends up becoming the ultimate fantasy come to life. She has the chance to not only work with a band she loves but keep Blade out of trouble. The problem? She likes him and he loves trouble.

For Blade hes the broken bad boy with a softer side not many know about. But as you watch him change its sweet to watch. These two will not have it easy and times your

No Spoilers!!I truly love rock star romance books and this one didn't disappoint ! I have never read this author before and was unsure about her writing , however it was a page turner. The story unfolded perfectly and had me mad at times because of some the characters actions. Crys is hired to a public or fake girlfriend for Blade. He need help with his image since he is bringing the band down with his extra bad boy ways. Then things start to develop between the two and it is like fireworks. But I am not going to ruin the story for you. You are going to have to grab a copy for y ...more

When I started reading Rock Star's Heart I was kind of iffy about the story. I must say it did start out slow but I was very happy I read it to the end. After the first few chapters thing started heating up. Crys was very sheltered before she started her fake relationship with Blade. Lets just say being surrounded by a bunch of rock stars that didn't last long. From the beginning of the book I was rooting for Blade. By the middle of the book I was on pins wanting to know how their story would en ...more

Kella Campbell can usually be found in Vancouver, Canada.

She writes mostly romance, because love and relationships are what she finds most interesting about life and in fiction. Even when she dips into other genres, her writing almost always has romantic/emotional/relationship elements.
