Siren’s Kiss is open and thriving, booked through the holidays and providing tons of jobs. The new training facility is built and has stacks of applications from paranormals who want to help keep people safe. A normal woman would take a moment and simply enjoy what her hard work has accomplished, bask in the achievement.
Seraphine Thomas is far from a normal woman and doesn’t know the meaning of “relax” when there’s more work to be done. Meeting more Alphas at the club opening, she learned that the danger for paranormals is worse than she had thought.
After the win of taking down terrorists everyone wanted, she uses that goodwill to get her team to Memphis to help out the regular FBI and paranormals there. The problems start right away, and when the reports she received only scratch the surface of how bad things are, she realizes the people she brought aren’t enough against the threats. But when the FBI isn’t enough to protect herself and others, can she work with her other sides to be the champion everyone needs?
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
Just to start, this book really hit home for me. I won’t say why bc it’s a spoiler, but I’m not gonna lie, I was riding the emotional coaster the whole book. Sera is such a strong character and I love her for that. She isn’t a weak push over who relies on her guys. The things she had to go through were crazy and I honestly don’t know how she got through it. This series is one of my favorite and I’m so glad it touches real life topics.
This book covers Sera and her FBI team heading out to Memphis to try and help the supernatural community after Virgil, the local Alpha, asks for help. Their pack is being persecuted, mainly by local churches, and their businesses are suffering.
Once again Sera has to walk through the minefield that is local politics and shifter culture. It seems like Virgil hasn’t given them the full story.
Once again, in this book, we see Sera work herself into the ground for other people, though other people seem determined to take care of her as well.
First, the entire series needs a good editor. I enjoyed, mostly, these books. But I've looked at the blurbs and reviews, and I'm afraid this is a case of stirring up soap opera drama just to keep something going. The story is in a good place. I will just pretend this is the end.
Review of the Seraphine Thomas Series by Erin Flynn (Books 1–18) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Overall)
I’ve officially read all 18 books in the Seraphine Thomas series - yes, all of them - so you don’t have to (but maybe you’ll want to). I’m a longtime fan of Erin Flynn’s writing. Her stories are creative, emotionally rich, and often addictive. There's always at least one character per series you end up rooting for, and her talent for immersive world-building is undeniable.
That said, my experience with this series has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Let’s break it down honestly - but respectfully.
🔥 The Positives: Compelling Worldbuilding: The supernatural FBI + polyamorous twist is unlike most in the genre. Think Forever meets Castle with a Vampire Diaries vibe.
Long-Term Character Arcs: The series spans a wide timeline and shows dedication to character growth (even if not always in a direction I enjoyed).
Addictive Early Books: Books 1–7 had me hooked. They had humor, high-stakes emotional drama, and solid pacing. These earned a solid 3.5/5 stars from me.
😬 Mixed Feelings & Constructive Critique: 1. Tone and Authorial Voice While the author’s writing style is generally engaging, I personally found some of the commentary in the closing author’s notes and certain narrative choices to feel more personal or opinionated than expected in fiction. I completely understand the need to address issues like piracy, but I believe there might be more neutral or inclusive ways to communicate those messages.
2. Relationship Complexity vs. Clarity This isn’t a typical “Why Choose” or Reverse Harem setup. It’s a deeply layered polyandrous dynamic - messy, intricate, and sometimes emotionally chaotic. If you're looking for straightforward bonding arcs, be prepared: the relationship development gets incredibly convoluted. Personally, I found the shifting dynamics between mates, sirened partners, consorts, and friends-with-benefits confusing as the series progressed. A glossary or relationship map might be helpful in future installments.
3. Character Fatigue By Book 18, I found myself struggling to connect with many of the characters - especially the main character, Sera. She starts off as a resilient, sharp, and likable FMC, but over time, her decisions and relationship management felt inconsistent or frustrating. The push-pull dynamic in her personal life, paired with very little progress in her supernatural education even 18 books in, made it difficult for me to continue rooting for her.
Many love interests were introduced with big emotional weight, only to fade into the background or disappear altogether. Some characters who were well-developed and emotionally resonant (like Dain or Tristan) seemed to get less closure or fair treatment than others who felt more peripheral. In contrast, some relationships dragged on without significant development or payoff.
4. Pacing & Structure Books 8–18 dropped to a 2.5/5 rating for me. The pacing slowed, and more focus seemed to shift toward commentary and expanding the cast rather than continuing the central storyline. Political and social themes started to feel more prominent than the core plot, which I found distracting from the fictional narrative I was invested in.
🧍♀️Sera Thomas (FMC): Early-series Sera was fantastic: witty, brave, emotionally complex, and vulnerable. I loved her journey through the early books. But as the series continued, her indecision, emotional volatility, and seeming lack of introspection made it harder to sympathize with her. She often reacted rather than reflected, and by Book 18, she felt less like a hero and more like a character stuck in loops.
💔 On the MMCs: Too many to list fully, but here are some key points:
Tristan: Felt unfairly treated by both the narrative and Sera. He brought a lot to the story emotionally and deserved more.
Dain: A standout for me. Loyal, strong, and emotionally available. Frustratingly underappreciated by Sera.
Brian, Riley, Hagan/Reagan: Relationships with these characters didn’t feel satisfying or necessary by the end.
Noah, Axel, Eugene, Jason: Struggled to leave a lasting impression. Some started strong but faded, others never quite clicked.
Carter: Felt like his storyline was mishandled. A simple conversation would have solved a lot.
Ari, Virgil, Lucca, etc.: Either forgotten or sidelined. At 18 books in, I’m struggling to remember who’s still important and who isn’t.
⚠️ Final Thoughts: This series started with a bang but has become increasingly complex - sometimes at the expense of clarity, pacing, and emotional payoff. I’d still recommend it to readers who enjoy dark paranormal romance with poly themes, complex emotions, and an ongoing world that spans dozens of characters.
But for me, the series may have reached its natural peak. I’m unsure whether I’ll continue with future books unless there’s a notable shift in focus and tone. Still, Erin Flynn’s creativity and dedication to her characters is commendable, and I hope future installments bring some much-needed resolution to long-standing arcs.
TL;DR: Started strong with a bold and complex heroine in a unique supernatural world. Became bloated with characters and unresolved plot threads. A frustrating but ambitious series worth reading - if you have patience.
Hunted Wolf is the sixth book in the Seraphine Thomas series by Erin R. Flynn.
The flashback was a nice addition tacked on to the end there. It's been enjoyable experiencing Brian and Sera relearning their love for each other, even if they haven't officially taken everything to next level. Just practically drip with love, and hang off of each other. If he doesn't end up as her first mate, he will have to die. They are simply too perfect together.
I do like the other men in her life. The twins, Hagen and Reagan are so supremely fuck ups sometimes. They can say some profoundly idiotic things. But they are healing in their own way. And I like that the author has so cleanly established them individually. Then there's Noah who is simply perfection for our MC. He spends a lot of time in the background, but he is always looking out for her. He is completely a sure thing in her life, and love. Dain is so understanding and caring. I hope we see so much from him. He is profoundly layered and I enjoyed his scenes immensely. Luca takes care of her as well, but in such a different and valuable way to Dain's.
The government fusterclucks have procreated. Seriously. That the alphabet soup came in and tried to blacksite her with veiled threats isn't surprising, just so supremely idiotic. And ironically hilarious. That there's someone hunting her mysteriously is just an added edge of danger. And that's even before you consider a possibly completely different psycho unearthing dead Alphas from the Chicagoland pack lands. And there's the myriad of threats outside of their borders, like the known enemy in New York her cousin plans to usurp, and the so many other hidden ones that equally want to knock her down a peg.
I'm getting so tired of the whore talk. This is a polygamous relationship. Because you are repressed doesn't mean you have to shame others. I love this mixture of supernatural species that makes up Sera's powerbase. In both the allies she's incorporating into her hemisphere, and her power alone.
I hope we see so much more from Nina soon, and her newly rediscovered descendant in the Evans family. And I can't wait to see how many people they can stumble into saving and liberating in the next book.
I came across this series by accident and was curious about the title. I have devoured the first 6 books and am looking forward to reading the next installments.
I read somewhete that this series was being compared to the Anita Blake series. There might be some similarities but they are completely different. I have read quite a few of the books in that series and got really bored by around book 13 or so. Why you ask? Because I could read half of the book and still nothing big happens because of all the talk of feelings and blah blah blah. Totally lost the allure of the series when Anita was a badass vampire hunter and all powerful necromancer. The Action parts.
In Sera's series she does have her lovers, her family, the drama in her office but there is alot of actiin showing how badass she really is. I love the uniqueness of her being a werewolf with the power of a siren too.
I highly recommend this series and must give fair warning that you will lose alot of sleep being unable to put the book down. 😊😴😪😊
I picked up this series on a whim. At first I was like why is there 16 books?!? That’s crazy! Now after I’ve read 6 of them? I wish there was more!!! The growth these characters go through is insane. It’s not like other “harems” where they get a set group of guys and that’s it after everyone’s been added to said harem. I love that it’s actually like real life relationships where life drags some people in different directions and other things happen like realizing you have nothing in common after the initial attraction. I appreciate that everyone’s not perfect and it shows people making mistakes and learning from them. I also like that it doesn’t just brush over the FMC having trauma but never addressing it. That would be unrealistic. I love that she’s in therapy basically and working on herself even if it’s kinda behind the scenes and only gets touched on some. It’s still amazing. I can’t wait to read all the others in this series.
This is a big one to review from the others. I feel like Sara is a great heroine in some instances however personally she is an emotional wreck. She is quick to blame and overreacted on her partners when they do somethings she doesn't like. She pushed people away because of the history she has endured with 2 men that accidentally got tied to her. I mean really they weren't even long term. I doing feel bad for her in some situations because she reacts emotionally and that gets her deeper in trouble. The whole FBI things with paranormal is a little unrealistic. There should be a separate government for paranormal and the councils should be working with the human government to integrate. I though having there own separate division of policing would be a benefit instead of using the FBI. I don't know there are lots of things going on.
Outstanding, this whole series of books have been wonderful to read. The characters are really great. I wanted something different to read and this was it. Sera has been great to watch grow and learn. Her Bing female Alpha was even better. For any fans of Laurel K. Hamilton .Do not try and compare Erin Flynn is just as good as laurel. These are completely different types of people.enjoy each page for they are fantastic. I can not wait for the next book to see what the group will get into next. Well done, wonderful written new series. Enjoy!!!!!
The book was wonderful much like the rest of the series but the rants against the south, the church and American holidays got to be a bit much. I know what you do not like but I do not need to be beaten over the head by it. I read these types of books to escape from all the turmoil and strife swirling around us highlighted by the news and other outlets. I really do not needed it here. I’m too much a fan of this series to simply walk away but I hope future books can tone down the political and religious bias.
I have only recently been introduced to Erin’s books, first with the Artemis university series (I completely fell in love with Tamsin!!) and then once I finished the first five books (I’m eagerly awaiting the next) I started on Seraphine Thomas’ story. I absolutely love both series! I feel like the author really lets her personality shine through in her writing, she seems like a really cool person and someone I’d definitely be best friends with. She writes really interesting and badass characters who always fight for what they believe in and protect the little guys. My only criticism is that, although the author is very clear that she’s against all kinds of discrimination and tries to tackle sensitive issues in her writing, some comments regarding race and the struggle of black people (not in just in this book but in the last few books in the Seraphine Thomas series) has made me feel a bit... iffy. At the beginning I was just a bit frowny at certain comments and then as the series has progressed certain things have made me uncomfortable. Now I know that the author has in no way INTENDED for anything she’s written to be offensive, her stance on discrimination seems pretty clear. However as a young black woman who has been the victim of racist hate crimes, cruel bullying due to my race and discrimination in the work place due to my race certain things have annoyed me. I tried to brush my feelings aside as I know that the author did not intend to cause offence and I otherwise LOVE this series with all my heart, it’s just that’s the one thing taking away from my enjoyment of the series and stopping my reviews from being five stars.
I absolutely love this series. The characters are well developed for the most part and easy to love or hate depending on the character. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 os because of the grammatical errors throughout the story. Not enough to make reading a challenge or take away from the story but enough to be irritating. Overall I love the books and think they are very well written.
This has been an amazing series so far, full of depth and detail.the characters have detailed backstories, the plot is solid and there’s not always a HEA. I have laughed, cried, giggled and my heart has been in my throat more than once. There are a lot of intense moments with main character defending her beliefs, and learning that people in her life care for her. I love both her adopted families, especially Eva!
I really love this series by Erin 😍 Also being at fault for not always reading the authors not as there's so many in this series that I can just keep feeding my obsessive reading habit... I never noticed there were short stories on the guys at the end! You have to read the one in this book about Brian and Sera first meeting! Anyway I'm totally addicted to this series and cannot wait to continue 😍
I love the storyline and continuation of it. Sera is having a hard time of it, but she doesn't give up. I have read all the books so far and I keep rereading them!! I am waiting with bated breath for the next instalment after she got her brother in her life. Please give us more of Sera Ms. Flynn. I really love reading all of your series. Thank you so much for your wonderful stories.
It takes a strong will and self-belief to write characters with such range and individuality and then mesh them fluidly together. Erin keeps us suspended and entertained from beginning to end. The imagination in the plot line and fluid, beautifully written prose makes her books a delight to read.
I haven't written anything about this series yet because I can't quite classify it. Stephanie's stories are action packed fantasy with a bit of kink. There are a lot of emotional ups and downs too. Each story has a lead in and can be read independently but the series is best read on order.
I swear every new book becomes more engaging, each new character added to the books add more spice...which at this point in a series I wouldn’t think possible. She really is an amazing author❤️ this series is a must read...so happy a friend from work told me to read it!!
My biggest problem is with the constant virtue signalling the author does via Seraphine. She does it and then uses the word slave to purposely upset a suspect in an interrogation with the first Black character we have encountered. After preaching about the perils of religion. It's just too much. I enjoy the investigations and relationships she has but the preaching is bad.
I absolutely inhale the series....I like that she doesn't shy away from darker subjects, and is an advocate for counseling and healing the inner woman. Life is not pat or carefully scripted. And its a book that has a heroine continues to live her life her way in spite of disappointments. It's good. Thank you Erin, as I rarely do reviews.😊
Hunted Wolf is a fantastic installment in the Seraphine Thomas series. The author combines a great voice with fun characters in an outstanding world. I give her the highest praise of being the first author to make me think of Laurell K. Hamilton. Wholly original, Flynn’s world and storytelling I love in the same way I love Hamilton’s.
I have read two of Flynn’s series and got totally absorbed in the characters and the world they inhabit. My only suggestion would be to get a better editor. It is jarring when words are used improperly. For example, Flynn repeatedly uses conscious when she means conscience, and linage when referring to lineage.
Political bias is fine but it rose to preachy levels in this one. The problem with transitions continues. I frequently lose track of who is speaking or even the topic. Sometimes it seems like a chapter break from one paragraph to the next while most chapter breaks seem trivial. Still good but not up to the first five books’ standards.
This book had such a big case that most of the focus should've been there. Instead the author again decides to have 75 million subplots so none of them are very detailed or followed through. It jumps so much I was just ready to be finished. I really hate Sera's Cycle of Forgiveness. She is hurt, laments on it for most of the bo
was a good read! one of the better ones in the series!
I just wish the author would put at the beginning, a list of all the characters like she did in her other series. There are WAY TOO MANY characters and some she doesn't talk about much at all and then there is a huge section with them in it and it is hard to keep up.
This series has been absolutely Fantastic from first page to last 😄. Non-stop action, intense situations, emotional trauma, yummy sexy scenes and all around Awesome characters 😉. Thanks again Erin, your stories are very well written and I can't wait to read what happens next 🤓.
I was so excited to read the newest book. This book was amazing. Happy in some places , sad in others and super exciting throughout. This is definitely a must read.
This whole series is great. If you read Laurell Hamilton or Lyndsey Sands you will enjoy Erin Flynn. I really like how her main character Seraphine Thomas is so strong but at the same time she shows compassion and loyalty.
I love this series and the Kelly Murphy series too. The heroine is someone who fights for every one and is worth reading several times . I will keep these books on my keep shelf. Loved it !!
