The Yellowstone Event #2
A National Disgrace
Most Americans are unaware of it, but there's a super volcano brewing beneath the surface of Yellowstone National Park. The "Yellowstone Caldera," as scientists call it, is a real thing. It's what gives tourists the geysers and hot springs which have made the park famous. Now here's the scary part... the volcano has erupted before, and will erupt again. No one knows when, but it WILL happen. And when it happens it will destroy a sizeable part of the United States, including cities such as Denver and Salt Lake City. Further, there is no other American city which won't be affected in some manner. Those which aren't destroyed outright or damaged by falling debris and ash will be inundated by refugees in numbers never before seen in recorded history. Although scientists all agree it'll happen, no one knows for sure how it'll play out, and whether the United States will survive the eruption. Here, in "The Yellowstone Event," is a fictionalized account of a real event which hasn't happened yet... but which could happen at any time.

A National Disgrace is the second novel in Darrell Maloney’s Yellowstone Event Trilogy. The main issue with this series is that the title suggests that the Yellowstone Supervolcano has erupted or is soon to erupt in a massive, disastrous event, but two books on there is yet to be any such catastrophe.
What little scientific information is presented is partly inaccurate as Yellowstone last erupted around 640,000 years ago, not the 300,000 years as repeatedly stated by Darrell Maloney. This suggests that the writer hasn’t done the proper research required to write such a novel.
As for the story itself, it follows on from the Government cover-ups and conspiracies indicated in the previous novel, by incarcerating and torturing innocent people for information, while continuing to keep the general public unaware of the threat that the Yellowstone Caldera poses on the inhabitants of North America.
Not a lot of any real substance happens to move the plot along, except the information is leaked to the public causing uproar and mass panic.
All of this coupled with bad formatting and numerous spelling or grammar issues, makes for a poorly researched and rather pointless book.

This is the second book in a series about an impending eruption of the Yellowstone caldera. As in the first book the government is doing it's best to cover up the information, keeping it out of the hands of the public. As in the first book the government has demonstrated its willingness to kill people, to torture people, and to keep people in confinement, even if they are seven months or so pregnant.
The people working against them formulate a plan to, hopefully, get the information out, carefully avoiding the mass media (since the government could shut it up rather quickly.) The idea is to get the info to people who would understand it and then get that out to other people, especially college students who it is expected would stage protests about the government keep covered up the fact tha something was going to happen (within the next decade) that could destroy up to 30% of the United States.
It all boils down to one guy who can get the plan working, who understands just what is going on but who also has a weak heart and might just die before anyone else finds out what is going to happen. It makes for a decent book but could possibly have been part of the first book since the material is so similar and no eruption or evacuation has yet taken place.

A disgrace alright
This book makes me so angry that we have allowed Homeland Security to take away our rights.
Fav quote:
“Most of all I’m angry with the government for no longer representing the people. Instead they represent themselves and their cronies and their own self interests.

Fair story
Sadly not much about Yellowstone yet. A lot of political nonsense. So far very disappointed. Expected more about the caldera. Guess Brunno Miller has a better take on it!

OMG!!!
Fantastic read! I started reading late evening and read thru till daybreak! Could not put this book down until finished... Still wanting more.
I am truly a fan, addicted! Thank you!
When I was a kid, and had done some thing deserving punishment, my Father would banish me to my "cave" , my room with my books, away from my three brothers... doing my "penance" in peace and quiet.
Well I love reading GOOD books! I love nearly all of yours, I wait for each new one...eagerly!
