The pieces here would be almost okay if not for J. Neil Garcia's convoluted ramblings on post-politics, globalization and the usual dismissal of the parlorista-as-trope in the Philippine LGBT culture as vestiges of'old nationalist' writing instead of as a legitimate effect of the colonial, feudal and macho socio-economic conditions affecting the LGBT.
