Book 1: The Wolf's Bounty Book 2: The Wolf's Quarry
That was one adventurous, full throttle ride. I'm loving these characters more and more. This was fast paced, exciting with major unexpected events. Things are just getting more and more dangerous for Raleigh, Bishop and now Dax and even Mrs. Mitchell. So many unexpected things happened during this book, OMG it's crazy, blew my mind, I can't stop thinking about about all that happened.
Where things go from here could be anywhere, I wouldn't count anything out of being possible. I didn't see these things coming, especially the end of the book. I'll tell yeah KT Harding sure knows how to write and weave an amazing tale, with such unexpected twist and turns, so smoothly. My head is spinning. I can't get to the next book fast enough, I have (NO NEED) to know what happens next. The first and second books have been superb, the writing smooth, believable, excellent characters, unbelievable surprises and the feeling you're actually on the adventure along with the characters. It's been an amazing ride so far.
I received this book to review in exchange for my honest opinion. It’s a bit lengthy but here goes….
Right here, people, is the prime example of when the sequel is better than the original! I was a little wary of reading this book because, although I enjoyed Hinterland 1: The Wolf’s Bounty, I felt like I was missing something that everyone else seemed to find. Found it!! I blew through this book in a day. From page one, I was hooked and could not put it down. What a great way to start the New Year!
Previously, Raleigh’s character really got on my nerves. We have this strong female lead that is constantly second guessing herself and it drove me nuts. In Book 2, we can see how she is evolving as a person and it is fantastic! She still has her moments, but what girl doesn’t? In her relationships with Dax and Bishop she is really coming out strong and I am loving it! THAT is what I want to see. Go girl!!!
I think what I loved most about The Wolf’s Quarry was that we get into the history of Bishop and Dax a little bit more. We already knew where Raleigh came from so it was really great to see little bits into these men’s past. I still think Bishop is a little bit of an ass but he is coming around. I am liking this new and improved Bishop so much more than I did in Book 1. He has a bit of a sense of humor as well. I enjoyed that…a lot. I’m not going to get too much into Dax…all I’m going to say is…wow! Didn’t see that coming!!!
We also get to see a lot more of Hinterland and that is what really drew me in from the beginning. This world, guys, is just amazing. I can’t even begin to think of what kind of imagination it must take to create something with so many different aspects in it. It still amazes me and I cannot wait to see more of this world.
The non-stop action, the drama, the romance…everything about this book was exactly as it should be. So why, you may ask, did I not 5 star it? Let me tell you now:
I’m still having a few small issues with the setting of this book. When they aren’t in Hinterland, where exactly are the characters? I get an old-timey feel to the world, with carriages, wash basins and the type of food they eat (they don’t even have hamburgers yet!!!) but then Bishop has all these inventions (did he seriously invent the tablet? Was I reading that right? If so…how is he reading on it? Has the Internet been invented? What is going on here???) And I understand that a lot comes from Hinterland but I’m just sort of confused here. How does Hinterland have all this technology and it doesn’t get distributed to the above world somehow? I might have missed something in the first book that answered some of these questions and I didn’t enjoy the book any less, but this is where my mind started going throughout the story.
The only other thing I had issue with was the wolf scene. I’m not going to say any more about it other than that I did not enjoy it…at all. This was a small part of the book though and something I can totally get past.
All in all…well done to the author! I absolutely loved this book and it is going to drive me crazy to find out what happens next! My jaw actually stayed open during the last few chapters. It was THAT good!! I'm recommending it to everyone. Cannot wait for the next book!!!
OMG! This series is so good. We are into the second book of this series and I got to say it just gets more intense as it goes. There is so much going on and so much action I just could not put this book down.
In this book Raleigh and Bishop are still on the hunt for the tween. As a get closer and closer to the truth, things get more dangerous. As Raleigh continues to train Dex on the side, he continues to grow into a large and strong man. Raleigh begs Bishop to take Dex with them on their next adventure into Hinterland, only to have him refuse over and over. As things get more dangerous bishop finally agrees to take decks with them. As they get closer and closer to finding the twen, it only gets more dangerous and it seems like they will not make it out alive.
Man this book really introduces some unique characters. The author is really creating the most unusual world ever. You can't help but fall into depths of Hinterland. It's beautiful and dangerous all rolled into one. Very intriguing and interesting. Wonderful characters. I love Bishop and his quirkiness. I can't get enough of his nerdy ways.
I cried in this book. We are talking ugly crying. I can't believe what all has happened. I'm so upset right now and I can't talk about it without ruining the book. Damn spoilers . I can say this though, the story is flowing along nicely. So much excitement and adventure. There is never a dull moment. So much action starting with page one. The sex scenes are much better in this book than the last book. Bishop finally sort of has his shit together.
I recommend you start with the first book or you will not understand what is happening. But I guarantee you will enjoy it. Each book ending in an oh my moment. Keeping you hanging on to find out what happens next. I can't wait for the next book. Praying for a miracle and it to go my way. Wink wink! *ARC provided by KT Harding
K.T. Harding can't write this series fast enough! OK, my impatience is on me, and I know I need to work on that, but I'm totally serious. This series is like a drug and I can't get enough! This is book 2, and the books aren't stand alone books even though they do have an ending of sorts, so that's my warning that you shoul read The Wolf's Bounty before picking up this one. This story builds on book one. The same elements are there; the action, mystery, steamy love scenes - all of it, just taken up a notch. Things get a lot more intense in this one, and all I can say is OMG! I didn't see some of it coming! That doesn't happen often to me, but it happened here and I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it. Enough about that or I'm going to say too much... So one of my favorite things about this authors writing style is the depth and detail given to everything from the characters to the world building. It is mesmerizing and engrossing to the point where it feels real. You aren't reading the book, you are living it. It is amazing! Things don't remain static, though, the characters grow and change in a natural way that makes it even more believable. Yes, I know it's fantasy and therefor not even close to being realistic, but you get the point. It sucks you in and changes your belief about what is possible. I can't praise this story enough! I can promise that if you are a fantasy/paranormal romance lover that you will not be disappointed in this one.
The second installment was just as nail-bitingly suspenseful as the first book, if not even more so. And I felt sorry for Raleigh in a way because she had to deal with Bishop's moods. I mean she is essentially homeless except her apprenticeship with him. And she has no more contact with her father--has no idea where her brother is--so she needs Bishop more than ever, but he just picks and chooses the times he wants her intimately. And then only in her room; what's up with that!? And then Dax has to start making the relationship all weird with Raleigh. But he finally comes into his own, in a way. (I can't wait to learn more about what makes him special.) Then when the three of them finally, together, take on the impossible, something so heart-wrenching happens. Please let him have something in his pocket to help him! He just has to be okay. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book, and I borrowed it through the Kindle Unlimited program too.
I loved book 1 of Hinterland series, The Wolf's Bounty, and have been looking forward to The Wolf's Quarry, the second book in the series. It did not disappoint.
Having proven herself as a hunter and slayer, Raleigh Douglas and Knox Bishop now repeatedly go into the Hinterland to track down the twen, though Dax is eventually trained up enough to be brought along and each time they go into the Hinterland things just get more and more dangerous. Raleigh and Knox are growing closer and it’s a blast seeing if she can really put aside their rivalry and “embrace the connection between them in time” before the evil and danger they face robs her of “her one chance to find true love”.
Beware of cliffhangers in this series (and boy oh boy is there one here plus something that happens to a major character that better not be permanent .... ) but this book and series will definitely draw you in addictively. If you can handle that you’re on for one heck of a great time.
This series was not what I expected when I began to read it. The Wolf's Bounty: Hinterland Series Book 1, drew me in and I wanted more. Book 2 was just as enthralling for me. It moved at a great pace and my interest just kept getting piqued throughout. This series seems to be a mixture of historical, romance, dystopian, and fantasy, to me. It's different than a lot of books that I have read in the recent past.
Bishop and Raleigh are great together, they work well together as well as play off each other very well. The mystery surrounding Dax's abilities is a great motivation to keep reading, but we still don't know his history or his paternity. I look forward to reading more of this series to find out what will happen next.
I look forward to reading more of Raleigh's story and hope that things end well for her and Bishop. I look forward to finding out Dax's parentage and his abilities. I give this book a 5 star review. I hope to read more soon.
I'm absolutely loving this series it just keeps getting better and better. More interesting characters and let me tell you things are getting more intense. But with all the action going on you can't help being so wrap up in the story. I mean it's that good you'll be hook from beginning to end. I love the fact that Bishop is finally well sort of trying to get his crap together. It does end on a big fat cliffhanger but it only make me eager for the next book in the series. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own
I'm so into this series! It's one of the strangest books I've read since K.T.'s series Northern Kingdom. This one has creatures I've never heard of and some I have. Just when I think it couldn't get stranger BAM it does. Hinterland is a strange world that exists below our world...but it has stuff that is far more futuristic than the land above. Bishop is still on the quest to find a little creature he needs to fulfill his contract...along with Raleigh and Dax they take on the Guild, the corrupt organization in Hinterland. Please read the first book so you can follow the storyline.
At first I found this book a little difficult to get into. Maybe I was just distracted by the holiday excitement. But eventually I found my reading zone and found that again K T Harding had done it again. The author has written a book that just transports you to another place and rushes you along in a exciting adventure. This book also helps to answer some of the questions I had from the first book. I look forward to seeing where the next adventure leads.
We get to see more of Hinterland from the wonders of flying machines to those who stay hidden after seeing what terrible thing can occur by those in power. Just when Raleigh and Knox are getting closer her actions for another start to put a strain on things when they need to focus on their next move. There are some great twists, surprises and shocks in this book and the ending left me stunned, I soo need book 3!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This series gets more interesting as we move forward with Knox and Raleigh. The Hinterland series is an enjoyable mystery and adventure mystery series. You'll laugh, cry and then stare wide-eyed in unbelief as the story unfolds. Get ready, because K.T. Harding is taking you on a strange but riveting adventure.
Second book in the series and I cannot wait until the next one is out. Raleigh and Bishop are still on the hunt for the tween this book gives you danger, action , intrigue you could not ask for more, I will say have a box of Kleenex handy. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Wow another great. Raleigh has proven her worth as a hunter and it’s time to find out what’s happening in Hinterland. Impossible to put down and definitely need the next book. Received a free copy. Don’t miss out when this book is available.
Book two in the series. You will need to read book one before this one. Raleigh and Bishop are still trying to find and save the twen. The world of Hinterland will become even more intense and confusing at times. By the end anything is possible in this story. Dax’s story will be told. Expect strange and bizarre creatures and lots of fighting. Twists and turns around every corner. It will leave you hanging for book three.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. The Wolf's Quarry is Book 2 in the Hinterland series by K.T. Harding. I enjoyed reading the first book (The Wolf's Bounty) so much that I jumped Book 2 to the top of my list so that I could continue Raleigh and Bishop's adventure. Let me start by saying that if you haven't begun to read this series, you are missing out. This is definitely a Must Read series! Add it to your TBR pile (you can thank me later!), bump it to the top and prepare to become addicted to the next big thing! K.T. Harding has built Hinterland with an eye to enthralling her readers. The more you learn about Hinterland, its inhabitants and the Guilds, the more you want to know. Despite the fact that the books set you up for a continuing series (yes, that means cliffhanging) I am chest deep committed to continuing the read. I love the characters, I'm amazed by the combination of genre mix (paranormal, historical, steampunk...) and the storyline is like eating a Lay's Potato Chip (Hard to stop once you get started)! There is so much action, intrigue, emotional upheaval and yes, steamy sex (so mature audiences only please) that you really can't help but become addicted to this series.... Don't say I didn't warn you! K.T. Harding has earned a place on my keeper shelf besides Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs and Gena Showalter.
Another exciting addition to the series that leaves you chomping at the bit for the next one I received this book by the author for an honest opinion I really enjoyed the 1st book of this series and so was excited to see how the series would progress and was not disappointed. This book continues Raleigh and Bishops journey to rescuing the twen from the guild of martial arts as well as training Dax who bishop rescued from the hinterlands when he was but a baby but still refuses to train but which Raleigh has taken up the mantel for. This book takes you through the dangers they face and the twists and turns. In this book we finally know what happened to Raleighs brother who disappeared all those years ago but like always the author has given with one hand whilst taking away with the other as we are left in suspense over the demise or not of a main character. This book is seriously good and puts us all through the motions from funny to on the end of your seat, "no she did not just write that😳" The story world building is brilliant and the authors imagination of the different creatures what inhabit in this world really comes to life with how the author writes them. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next, would recommend.
First of all you need to read book one , The Wolf's Bounty , or you'll be asking yourself questions all through this book . Raleigh is now training Dax in her own time & Bishop is seriously not happy about it but refuses to say why even though Raleigh believes he has the capability to become a better slayer than both her & Bishop . Still on the hunt to save the Twen they go back to Hinterland leaving Dax behind against Raleigh's better judgement, from that point on this book is so fast paced & full of action you might need to put it down to catch your breath. Enemies everywhere seeking to destroy them , yet even when running or fighting for their lives the relationship between Raleigh & Bishop strengthens to a point where it's almost impossible to hide . After learning of the Twens whereabouts Bishop is finally forced to admit that Raleigh is the brains & he the brawn & allows Dax to join them on a mission to retrieve it .The book still keeps many secrets & leaves us on a subdued note & begging for the next book .
This is the second book in the Hinterland series. Although I loved this book it wasn't as good as the first in my opinion. Only barely though. In true Harding fashion you will be subjected to twists and turns, plot points that throw you off your guard, and lots of fun!
This pretty much picks up right where we left off. Bishop and Raleigh are still looking for that darn Tween. But huge plus! We have added another leading character! (No spoilers whatsoever for any of you!) Let's not even talk about the other awesome ones that get to come into the light!
Oh, and heads up be prepared for the feels. Like OMG. Why??? (Again, no spoilers! I feel like I seriously can't say anything without going on a full blown spoiler tangent to make you understand why I'm feeling like this!)
I do have to add that once again the intimate encounters are clumsy and awkward with wording and phrasing that just does not work. Honestly, if you ignore these uncomfortable dalliances the rest of the book is amazing!
I received an ARC and have voluntarily left this review.
I loved book 1 of Hinterland series, The Wolf's Bounty, and have been looking forward to The Wolf's Quarry, the second book in the series. It did not disappoint.

This series keeps getting better and better. The characters are so complex and engaging. The world that is built for this story is unique. If you like non-stop action, adventure, and monsters, with a different type of love story you will love this series. The twists in the story you won't even see coming. I will say this, my heart was broken. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and own a copy.
Absolutely loved this book and series and can't wait for the next book. Warning! This is Not a standalone, so please read the first book before you read this as you will be lost and confused. That being said the characters continue to grow emotionally and the adventure and mystery are addictive. This book is hard to put down and fast paced. Please read this series and this story after reading book 1. I promise you will be thrilled you did.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Damn it, I want to scream and yell. I was crying and then the book ended in another cliffhanger. I need the next book, and I need it now. I can't tell you anything about this story, because I don't want to ruin it for you, I want you to read it. This is a gr8 story and I definitely recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
The Quarry of the Fantastical Wolf (Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of the book and decided to read it and provide my honest review, which I have.) Wolf’s Quarry (Book 2) in the Hinterland series, is the sequel to The Wolf’s Bounty. Yes, the Fantasy, Action and Adventure, and Mystery are still the foundation of the series, but as the storyline grows, so must the characters and so must the environment in which they “live” within. It seems that there is more intrigue, twists and turns than previously. The author made it very easy to pick up where I left off and rejoin the characters in their current escapades. The minor character which I mentioned in my previous review has now matured so there are now three main characters. Quickly I became engrossed in the story and the characters and I was reminded why I love the characters personas. It’s not just the strength of their personalities but how stronger they are together. It’s how they interact with one another, yet are interdependent without it becoming a disability. The author is an exquisite writer with the ability to have others share her vision by writing in such tantalizing levels that the book is enjoyable, suspends disbelief and engrossing to read. I must be honest - Wolf’s Quarry’s ending caught me like a deer in the headlights. When a writer can stun their reader without any suspicion or without moving an inch away from the genuineness of the story, they deserve the 5th Star. RECOMMENDATION: A Must Read. -Tex. P.S. After Reading, I Pre-Ordered the Book.
