Lessons from Mars challenges the prevailing orthodoxy of corporate team building and offers an alternative framework along with a set of tools and techniques. Based on the author's 20-plus years of experience working with teams and six years of research specifically on Mars teams, the book offers a unique view into this closely-held private company and how it has unlocked the power of collaboration.
Very interesting and unique take on how to systemically approach creating value-added collaboration. More repetition and justifying examples than I like but I get that is necessary for many readers.
Solid and thorough for building high performing teams
Valdes-Dapena does an outstanding job taking the reader through his experience as a rookie team performance trainer to a pioneering collaboration expert that delivers results. Great common sense approach with a facilitator’s guide to asking great questions and running activities to take teams through various stages and processes.
This gets to stay on my bookshelf for future reference.
I don’t write reviews often. I really enjoyed this book and it’s worth rewarding! It’s long and some of it is technical. Do not skip the appendices which offer practical implementation instructions/advice. This book had interesting and unique insights (after reading 30+ business books over the last year).
