It's utter rubbish - what was I thinking?

A wonderful Book! First chapter is on the Mysterious Origins of the Pendulum, but don't let that stop you from exploring further.....tips on how to make your own, How to use a pendulum, Exploring the Hidden Powers of your Mind and Higher self, Healing yourself and others and much more.....I've used this book as a reference for years and have enjoyed the writing very much!

An eye opener to the mysterious science of Radiesthesia most of us never knew existed

I don't know what I expected from a book about pendulums; perhaps maybe a scientific answer to why pendulums work, but instead I got condescending writing and not a single ounce of science. I expected to learn about physics or at least gravity and friction.
Instead I got a history of drowsing rods which have nothing to do with pendulums. I will admit that part was at least fascinating.Everything else was a snooze fest from how to make a pendulum and how to use it to famous people who used pendulums and what to call the art of using a pendulum. Next the authors discuss cultures who used pendulums which basically turns into a bible lesson, but in the end the author says to ignore the lesson because those were the old ways and that humans are far too evolved to believe in morality. Then the author talks about the big GOD. Confused? I know I was.
The authors Greg Nielsen and Joseph Polansky have no concept of what science is since they were sticking their twisted morality and religious views into a book about pendulums. I'm very convinced the authors just wrote this books so they had something to gloat about or to discuss at the dinner table. Or so it would seem they were the experts of something.
None of the topics discussed made any sense what so ever and the topics were rather petty. "Romantic Radiesthesia" made me think that this chapter was written by a love-struck school girl who decided to buy a pendulum to see who she will marry. Should I be with Tommy? No, I think I'll choose David. But David is rather mean. No. Perhaps I'll choose Sean. But what if I decide that I no longer want Sean and find an Adam.
To one of the writers a pendulum is a device to meet women. This author even believes that a pendulum should pick out every relationship because somehow that must mean that they are compatible. How does that even make any bloody sense? Then the author mentions auras which is the only part he got right only to fuck it up again. And if people have a strong sexual attraction but the pendulum says that the relationship will end badly they should just have an affair because and I quote, "in an affair when the sex attraction wears off, so does the relationship, and no one gets hurt." What? Or you could both be honest with each other and talk about the relationship like two adults. Another wonderful gem from this chapter is this one, "The only criteria for sex morality that should exist between two people is the quality and nature of attraction that of their magnetic fields." Well that was so clear. Not.
But it gets EVEN better. This book also believes that you should use your pendulum to breathe or basically do everything. You don't know what to eat? Use a pendulum. You hate your job? Use a pendulum to find the perfect job for you. You're a complete dolt and don't know how to pick fruit or know if something is edible use your pendulum. You don't know how to make a simple decision? Use a pendulum! You'll never have to think again and be responsible for your actions! You don't need a doctor anymore because that trusty pendulum can tell you what ails your body. A pendulum can access your unconscious and even tell you if you're bipolar! Because an object can tell you if you're chemically imbalanced!
The book concludes that the authors want science and religion to become one and that it is their hope that people will still believe in God but will have lose morals. Because you know only religious people can have morals. Obviously."Religion, in our new society, will become the science-art of living according to our natural patterns." How does that conclude on pendulums? Did these authors even pay attention in grammar school?! Didn't your English teacher explain that a conclusion is where you write a summary of what you have discussed. (Annoyed English graduate is annoyed.)
All in all the only thing I have to agree with this book is that everything living has energy and that's about it.

A very interesting, informative, and easy read. The authors do a good job with the chapter layouts, making the information easily digestible, and making the book no-nonsense yet fun. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the fundamentals, history, and science of pendulums and their many applications.
