I'm not really sure how to review what is in essence a guide book, but I will give it a shot.
This book is from over 40 years ago so as a guide to the NG it is somewhat outdated to say the least. Whoever wrote the wording for it managed to make said wording frightfully dull and uninteresting. Hence the 3 stars. I had images of a stuffy professor type wearing a really bad tie.
The pictures in-between the covers are of course beautiful, and show some that the NG either no longer have, or no longer display, so it was nice to see some new faces and of course anything that will teach you about art in anyway is a good thing.
The National Gallery, London (Letts Guides) by Michael Wilson (Phillip Wilson Publishers 1977)(759.94). This is a beautiful collection of plates displaying the highlights of the British National Gallery in London. My rating: 7.5, finished 7/14/14.
