The number one book for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. It is a comprehensive guide for treatment and recovery - covering all aspects of breast cancer treatment, from diagnosis through recovery. Over 475,000 Copies In Use.
I hope you don’t have to read this book, but if you, too have been diagnosed, this book is very helpful and a great contrast to Dr. Google. I wasn’t up to it immediately after my diagnosis, and was feeling very anxious. A few days later, reading some of it, I found it addressed a lot of my worries. I did have to take a break again before the staging section until I had more test results back.
If you’re reading this, I’m sorry you’re in this position. If you are a person for whole more info about the science/history I’d helpful, I also recommend “the Emperor of All Maladies”. If you need real-people support (online version) try the app BC Healthline (it’s basically Facebook for breast cancer, but with more compassion, support, and suggestions than junk).
Take it as you need it, I know waiting and not knowing is hard, but the science has advanced a lot recently. And once you feel ready to talk to people in your community/family/friends, you’ll find out that you know people who’ve also dealt with it, so reach out. In fact, feel free to reach out to me if you want more takes on bc books, I’ve been working through a whole stack, but so far this one and Mukherjees’ have been the best
