Terry Pratchett's Discworld Imaginarium is a beautifully-produced art book featuring the remarkable work of Discworld illustrator Paul Kidby.

Kidby took over from the original Discworld covers artist, Josh Kirby, after Kirbys death in 2001. And its because I grew up with the Kirby-illustrated Discworld covers that Kidbys art never felt like the real Discworld to me but his skill and vision is undeniable.

The book extensively showcases the massive range of Pratchetts characters and places that

GOOD LORD, it is gorgeous and worth every penny.

I pre-ordered this book as soon as it was available. Well, there was a mix-up and I pre-ordered the wrong one but I found out in time and managed to still get a copy of this limited deluxe edition. And boy, oh boy, is this a special edition!

The book offers art from across the novels (ever since Kidby took over after Kirby died), some in sepia, some pencil sketches and some oil paintings. It is ordered into chapters according to the places on the

Where to start with this book. Well to simply put it, it is a super sized sumptuous celebration of Terry Pratchetts Discworld and the books that helped shape and explore it.

The book contains original sketches and trials as well as the finished pieces for his later titles which we all recognise and love.

The edition I managed to find is the standard version (there is an insanely expensive collectors edition apparently) is still a book to behold.

There is not much in the way of text I will admit

Such a beautiful book.

If you're a fan of the Discworld series then there is no way you've not come across Paul Kidby's gorgeous artwork as he's been illustrating the covers since 2002 and has brought all of Terry Pratchett's most popular characters to life.

This is an absolutely gorgeous hardback that includes all of Paul Kidby's favourite Discworld pictures, many you may have seen before but also some that were only used for foreign covers or limited editions or that have never been published elsewhere. You'll find

A really beautiful book. If you're a mega Pratchett and Paul Kidby fan like me you've probably seen nearly all of the illustrations already, but it's nice to have them all in one place with such a wonderful presentation.

Absolutely loved the artwork in this book. Some I hadnt seen before. Lovely to be able to see the detail up close after seeing them on book covers and art displays. The subtle differences of the rough draft to the final product impressed me. ...more

A fantastic collection of Discworld artwork by Paul Kidby much akin to his previous The Art of Discworld but this is twice the size and is a fitting tribute to Terry Pratchett from his illustrator since 2002 following the death of his original illustrator Josh Kirby

People may disagree with Paul Kidbys vision of what the characters appear like as they will differ from your own perception but you cannot refute the quality of the images he produced, Also much to my liking is the fact that at

This is a stunning book. Showcasing the art Paul Kidby did for the books of Sir Terry Pratchett, this takes you deep into their collaboration.
As Kidby only took over the art after 2002, the majority of the work covers the later works, so their is a lot of Tiffany, The Chalk, Wee Free Men etc, but even so virtually the entire cast is covered one way or another. A lot of the work will be familiar to anyone that has read the books, however a lot of it will be brand new. Not only that, but in some

A gorgeous collection of artwork about, and from the covers of, Pratchett's Discworld books. Kidby works in pencils, acrylics, oils - there's even a sculpture of the late author - and his work is beautiful, full of character and whimsy. It's a great pleasure to own. For some of his larger pieces a character key would have been appreciated (when there are dozens of citizens of Ankh-Morpork in one work, it would be nice to know who some of the lesser figures are, although I'm sure there are many ...more

I love the fact that this was made. As someone who has read the books mostly during childhood, this is something that makes you smile of nostalgia and good memories.

To this day he remains my favourite author, having played a big part in forming my character then and now. I still regret that I did not have the possibility to meet him in person. But every piece of his mind, including how he imagined his characters to look like, is something I treasure and which makes me feel a tiny bit better.

Absolutely gorgeous book, wish it was 3 times longer because oooooh boy is like half of The Last Hero need to be in here (kidding kidding. There's a bunch of illustrations absolutely adore from all over Discworld that aren't in this and totalz should have been)

PS: minus a star for some illustrations being 2-page spreads that bury an excellent detail riiiight in middle of crease thats hard to see. However, plus a star for Leonard sketch squeezing in an Ogg joke, Mona Lisa AND Titanic joke. All in

Absolutely amazing artwork from Paul Kidby, who manages to pack insane amounts of detail into every one of his Discworld pictures. This massive book contains a lot we may have seen before (although usually not as large) and several pieces that I've never seen, both new and older works. It is, of course, by no means *every* Discworld illustration he's done, but it's a great selection and a worth addition to any fan's collection.

Nice illustrations although it was annoying that some spanned two pages with the bulk of the detail caught in the crease. When you spend this much on a book that is really illustrations and artwork, you want them to pay attention to things like that. Very annoying. I also still prefer the Josh Kirby covers to the Paul Kidby ones. Not that I'd turn down an original Kidby.

So, three stars for the poor layout decisions.

Definitely a very enjoyable collection, though the tag-line of "very best" is not completely accurate, as far as I am concerned; there are illustrations that I had hoped to see here and some that I was surprised to find.
The paper and print are of high quality and the layout is interesting, however I would have preferred illustrations taking up two pages to be in and around the middle of the book, so that they can be fully enjoyed with minimal pressure put on the spine.

Beautiful Discworld artwork collection with short introductions to the different locations of the Disc, e.g. Ramtops, the Chalk, Ankh-Morpork. Only enjoyable if you know most of the characters and like looking at artwork obviously. Drawings are funny, full of little details & one can see that Paul Kidby loved the Disc. Reading this also made me miss Sir Terry. Gah. 5 Stars

I'm glad I spent the large amount of money on this book. It is delightful to have so many Terry Pratchett characters under one cover.
It is a dense, heavy book with an unpleasant new smell to it. No doubt that will improve, but at the moment it means I browse it in limited doses! Rincewind, Death and the wee free men are probably top favourites just now.

It's a beautiful book that skimmed with me across dozens of books worth of emotional memories. I'm always happy to give the Pratchett estate more money. I hope they do something silly with it, beyond preserving Terry's legacy.
