SEDUCED BY A SCOT (The Highland Grooms #6) by Julie London is a historical romance set in 1758 Scotland. Even though this book is part of a series, it can be easily read as a standalone.

Nichol Bain is a “fixer” for the aristocracy. He prides himself on finding a solution for any problem or making it disappear for a price. When a prominent Scottish family is on the verge of having a lucrative business deal fall apart, which is also

ARC provided by NetGalley and Harlequin for a honest review.

Review to come closer to publication.

This was an average read. I had a difficult time with the heroine in this novel, she just didn't resinate with me and came across somewhat "flighty" and not much depth.

Hero I liked well enough.

Story line was lacking. First half wasn't much there, more dialogue then story in my opinion.

Full review to come.

Am I suffering from extreme Outlander withdrawal, or does the cover model look an awful lot like Sam Heughan??

I’ve received this eARC at no cost to the author.

Seduced by a Scot is the sixth book in the Highland Grooms series. After such a good fifth book, I thought it might be difficult to come back to that excellence. But Maura and Nichol came pretty close to it. Maybe because Maura (after leaving her house, of course) reminded me of Catriona? I don’t know. What I do know is that I really enjoyed this book.

Both Maura and Nichol have had a hard time in life and, in this book, both of them fi

Seduced by a Scot is the sixth title in Ms. London’s entertaining Highland Grooms series. Although there is mention of previous characters and activities, the story is very much a standalone romance and enjoyable by its own rights. Readers briefly met Nichol, the man who fixes problems for others, in the previous book. He’s a bit of a vagabond, going from one job to the next and never settling down. Estranged from his family, he claims no name and no home. But he enjoys what he does and lives a ...more

An enchanting story that will pull at the heart and engage your emotions. Maura Darby had lost her parents and relied upon others to take care of her. When the family's daughter was about to be married, disaster was about to happen when she caught the eye of the groom. So they turn to Nichol Bain, the "fixer" of the aristocracy to take hold of Maura and gain a solution.
His solution is to marry Maura off to an older bachelor who she has never seen. Maura of course has no desire to marry a strange

Seduced by a Scot is the 6th book in the Highland Groom series. I loved this entire series. The Mackenzies are warm, funny and a very exciting family. Seduced by a Scot is different from all the other books in that it only mentions the Mackenzie family briefly. The heroine, Maura, begins as a Cinderella complete with ugly stepsister – not really a stepsister but close enough. The hero, Nichol, comes in when he rescues Maura as Rapunzel from a tower. The falling in love comes later as he escorts ...more

This is the 6th book in the Highland Grooms series and it can absolutely be read as a stand alone book. This one is about Nichol Bain, who we met in Catriona's book, and Maura Darby. Nichol has been hired to "fix" a deal (and an engagement) for two aristocratic families. He understands that part of the problem revolves around one of the families beautiful ward, Maura. Maura has tried to stay in the background and out of the way but it's not always possible and being blamed for other people's act ...more

I am so sad to see this is the end of the Highland Grooms series, but I am so happy that Nichol got his happily ever after! Once again, Julia London has given her readers a romantic, intriguing story of two strong-willed people who feel that happiness is out of their grasp. While the aloof Mr. Bain was not my favorite character in Tempting the Laird, I fell in love with Nichol immediately in Seduced by the Scot!

Seduced by a Scot by Julia London was a fun read while I spent time at the Highland Games in NH. I enjoy Julia London’s books and found this one to be a different read with it’s unusual plot. I liked the twists and turns and I liked Maura Darby’s righteous anger. This book is the sixth in a series called The Highland Groom Series.

Nicholas Bain is a fixer for people’s problems. It seems he is able to negotiate and resolve sticky situations without most people being the wiser. He is called in to s

Nichol is a man that gets things done, he has a way with settling issues but when his services were requested he had no idea what he was getting into. Maura has had to rely on the kindness of her father's friend after his death, she was moved in to strange house with the Garbett family which should have been great, she would be a playmate to the family's daughter and it would have been the perfect situation if it were not that Maura out shined the Garbett's daughter. That was how the she became ...more

I've enjoyed books by Ms. London, but this one wasn't one of my favorites. Nichol Bain is someone you call when you need a "fix" to a situation. He's the ultimate fixer and has built a career for himself. Treated horribly by his father, Nichol has kept himself aloof most of his life because of his scarred childhood. When he's called to fix another situation, he meets Miss Maura Darby, another lost soul treated horribly by those who are supposed to care for her. These two are drawn to each other, ...more

Seduced By A Scot is a bit of a Cinderella story, Maura having been orphaned at the age of twelve and sent to live with a family friend of her father’s. Maura is, of course, beautiful while the daughter of the house has a bulbous nose and a shrewish temper. With things getting worse by the minute for Maura it seems plausible to knight in shining armour Nichol that an arranged marriage to a friend of his who has a large estate and plenty of money is an excellent solution to her situation.

What a heroine! While I love all of Julia London's heroines, this one really struck a chord with me. So often we see our leading ladies brought down by the challenging upbringing they've had, leaving it to their fella to remind them of what makes them a force to be reckoned with. Not so with Maura! While she has accepted her past, she has by no means lost the fire that is innately within her. I loved seeing her with Bain, holding her own, both when she "disliked" him and when she definitely didn ...more

The story of Maura, who has lost her family and relies upon another to raise her. She truly deserves more than what she receives while growing up in that household. Jealousy and vindictive behavior of others make her have to rely on Mr. Bain.

Bain, a cast off from his father since a young age, is wonderful. He has been on his own for many years and yet takes Maura on a journey to find security so she will have a home.

So many secrets by others, the jealousy and pure hatred that people can have,

Seduced by a Scot by Julia London is the sixth book in the Highland Grooms series and they just get better! This one asks the question, is happiness within our reach or only for others?
Maura is the ward of Calum (and quite beautiful) who stays in the background as much as she can so that her wards daughter Sorcha (not so beautiful) can find a husband. But no matter what she does Sorcha and her mother find fault and treat Maura with distain.

This was a solid addition to this series. This one is the story of Nichol Bain, a character who has been referenced in earlier books as a problem solver, and Maura Darby, an orphan ward trying not to outshine her guardian's shrewish daughter, Sorcha. When Sorcha's betrothed is caught kissing Maura, the entire situation is blamed on Maura and she is banished from her guardian's home as a temptress, with Nichol called in to smooth things over. His plan is to marry Maura to his friend Dunnan, but a ...more

I requested this book 100% based on the fact that Julia London wrote it - and she did not disappoint.

I loved Maura right away, we see her just as she's breaking. She's taken as much as she can take and she absolutely can't take any more. I loved that we saw Nichol understand that and let her talk and talk and talk and talk while they road, understanding her on a level that even she didn't know.

Bain - I adored him too! He didn't know what he needed either. It took Maura not just loving him, but

Seduced by a Scot was an absolute swoon worthy read! Maura and Nichol captured my heart from the beginning. Maura is so mistreated your heart just breaks for her. She is accosted by a gentleman suitor that is actually for the other young lady of the house, and then punished for his actions without another thought until that is Nichol comes into the picture. I adored his character and morals. He was such a night in shining armor for Maura. It was a fantastic heartwarming romance, that I would def ...more

This was a below average read and not typically my experience when it comes to Julia London's Books.

The heroine was very difficult to connect with and seemed to have a lack of depth.

I don't mind a slow burn romance, but this was not it. The compatibility of these two characters felt forced.

I will say that I did however enjoy Nichol's character and his back story, which i think could have been developed more.
Overall a decent read. Thank you

What a gem of a historical Scottish romance! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although historical Highlander books are popular, this one seems fresh and unique. Maura and Nichol are wonderful characters individually and their story shows them to ultimately be a great couple. The storyline was entertaining and complex. There were also interesting secondary characters.

Although part of The Highland Grooms series, this can easily be read as a standalone.

I love this series by Julia London. The story is about Maura Darby who is getting married in a few weeks and she does not want to marry an stranger. She lost her parent and has been taken care of by another family. Nichol Bain is called the fixer, he fixes problems. His solution to this problem is to marry Maura himself instead of her marrying an old bachelor, who she hasn't met. This was a good book and I hope there will be more books.

A lovely read from Julia London that takes us to Scotland and introduces us to Maura and Nichol. Both are very strong characters who have had a lot not go right for them. But they don’t give up - they regroup and plan and plot.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity for an arc in exchange for honest review.

Nicole and Maura both had a very rough childhood they both felt very unloved and unwanted. Nicole fixes problems and is called upon to fix Maura’s. Little did he know that after some adventure he would fix both they’re problems.

Another keeper by Julia London. Nichol Bain is known for solving problems. Maura is a poor relation with a problem. Very entertaining to find out if they can solve this one. Highly recommend. I received an ARC for an honest review - honestly a great read.
This was just an okay read for me--maybe 2 1/2. I love Julia London, but had a hard time connecting to the characters here and was bothered by the lack of sympathetic female characters.
