Sad it's over
I've read this series from start to finish. I loved every bit of this world. The characters, creatures, plots, storylines.... I'm going to miss this series. Though I'm sad it's over, I'm happy with how it ended. (Even when losing certain characters throughout the story.) I may possibly read the whole series all over again in time. Looking forward to another world created by B.T. Narro.

I’m torn on how to review this book. I’ve enjoyed the series so far, and all the previous series set in this world. But, there was some stuff that bothered me.
What I liked: I really enjoyed the story with the Krepps. I thought there was a lot of creativity with their culture. I also grew to like Kirnich and Beatrix more, so getting more to their story was a pleasure.
What I hated: Fathol. Not him as a character, I enjoyed how much of a threat he was and his extent of power. I hated the end of his story. Hated it. I won’t spoil anything, but I was left pretty disappointed.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (rounded up to 4). I would have given it 4, but with how lackluster the ending was, I couldn’t justify it. BT Narros Kin of Kings and And Rhythm of Rivalry both had epic endings that made the whole series satisfying. This one lacked for me.
Recommendation: overall i enjoyed the series. I would recommend this if you’ve read the other books in this world, because I feel that you get a little more enjoyment out of small character appearances that are littered throughout. As a series alone, it wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst.

I've had a great time listening to these audiobooks. The narrator was this wonderful older man, and the plot was interesting and refreshing.
This was the final book in this trilogy and it was enjoyable throughout. There were some moments of interesting inventiveness and memorable, unique characters, as well as a few that kind of didn't make as much impact as they could have perhaps.
The ending was good enough, although with a few Very convenient moments for some plot points being tied up. Still a great read (or listen) over all.
I didn't realize when I started, that B.T Narro had written several books in this universe. But after realizing it, some things became clearer - why the magic system was well built and functioning, but not well explained in this trilogy - apparently the author had done that previously and wasn't wasting time delving too deeply into it again.
It did feel at times, that this was an added on story rather than the main event. Maybe the other series will feel fresher and more ground breaking, although who knows. This was still a great read in any case.

Second reading was twice as good!
I rated The Mortal Mage five stars because that was the highest rating available. I read through this book the first time like a hungry baby. Then, saw it again and realized I hardly remembered it! So I read it again, taking time to enjoy the adventure rather than learn the finish (which I couldn't remember in full either!). As a person that "plays" with energy, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The reunions of characters was always enjoyable and smoothly written. As the ending book to a series it was very nicely completed and didn't leave me wishing for more story. Although I am eagerly anticipating his next round of adventures! Thank you BT!

war has arrived despite all the work Desil and the Wind Riders had done to prevent it. with eppil pieces and ankoril stone in hand, they had been prepared to take on either side to stop the war, but now it was too late. deadly consequences will occur.
i'm sad to see this series end. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of it, not just these three books. this has been a great place to discover and explore with fun and wide ranging characters. thanks.

Epic saga!!!!
If you start at the beginning and work your way through 3 generations us off-shoots, I promise you'll be amazed. It's tween and older appropriate, and if you enjoy the fantasy classics, you'll be impressed.. It took 40 years to accomplish their ultimate goal. They lost much, they watched their children give everything for the same cause. So much sacrifice. So much love. Thank you.

Flat with bad and wrong ending!
The story is flat with the same scenario playing over and over through all three books. The hero’s story barely peaks and is mostly boring while one of supporting heroes dies needlessly at the end. The only good thing in this book is the hero’s love story which is barely worth reading.

The world-building was interesting but this series was hard for me to finish. Action scenes can be a bit hard to follow and the whole thing seems rushed and drawn out at the same time. The characters did not seem to develop fully. It's not my favorite series from the author but his world-building creativity never disappoints.

Awesome ending to a great series.
So sad to see this series end but the characters and story have been an amazing read. B. T. Narro is going to be a legendary fantasy writer like Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis. Keep it up sir, and I will keep reading!

I expected more from the 3rd book but the book dragged and I found it difficult to finish. some action at the end as you would expect but I was disappointed with Desil for not being curious enough about his abilities and experimenting. I like the narrator's performance.

Great series
I read entire series 17 books. You don’t have to read in order. I didn’t and nothing was changed. Author is masterful in his characters and battle scenes. Even the Krepps and other weird creatures he can make you love. I will miss this series.

Good Read
Was hard to get through as plot became a bit tired, trying to be a good young adult book series. The storyline p/world was good, characters enjoyable, but the premise of the whole series was that the threat of a great weapon would stop war. Not a great lesson.
