Hot firemen, now in the world of shojo manga! High school student Moe has moved to a new town after the death of her father. Moe’s already having enough trouble fitting into her new class as it is, so she’s totally mortified when she ends up being "rescued" by local firefighter Kyosuke during a fire drill... in front of all the kids at school. But the embarrassing incident might be a blessing in disguise, because gruff-but-kind Kyosuke gives Moe the courage she needs to leap out of her comfort zone as she aims to leave her loner days behind. Not to mention she’s soon falling head over heels for him…!

This is just strange. The girl in it acts like she is 8 years old and keeps being refused by the other character who is a Fire Fighter... yet she keeps getting into these ridiculous situations to be rescued by him. I requested my Library to purchase these Digitally so I could attempt to find one of these that I may enjoy and broaden my genre horizons, so I will probably continue on to see if this gets any less awkward / weird. Great artwork though!

Another interesting manga. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was cute and I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

My Boyfriend in Orange is an age gap romance manga so I will say that if you're not a fan of age gap romances then you probably won't like this. Kyosuke is a firefighter who ends up rescuing Moe during a school fire drill. Over time she gets into more trouble and he continues to rescue her. As a result, she wants to spend more time getting to know him. He's opposed to it not just because she's younger, but also because he seems to have some trauma from a past relationship. Regardless of how he feels, Moe makes appearances at his job and his house as way to spend more time with him. I'm curious to see how the relationship is going to develop because it's clear that it's slightly one-sided. I’m a little nervous about not liking Moe’s character in the future, but I’m willing to see where the story goes.

This was fun! I know age gap romances aren’t for everyone so be aware going not this. I will say that nothing really happens romantically in this volume but a clingy hug. I love that theirs a little mystery that we haven’t yet gotten to see yet. Overall a cute, solid start and I will be continuing on with this series 3.5

This has some weird issues like Moe seeing Ebihara as her (dead) father, but otherwise is setting up for a decent romance.

Full review eventually appearing on ANN.

This is really cute. You know what would be cuter? Knowing how old he is. Seriously, I keeping trying to find out and it feels almost intentionally left out.

Legit picked this up thinking the love interest was a prisoner LMAO. He's a freaking FIREFIGHTER.
Bye, I hate myself.

That said, I'm loving this for the firefighter MMC, but the FMC is so painfully an immature high schooler, I canNOT. I'll give her points for being persistent but also, give the man a break!

Recap: Fire drill, Ebihara saves her, she's a loaner and thanks him, runs into him with her brother, they talk, more shenanigans of her showing up whenever she can, she gets almost killed and he saves her, they have him over for a meal, he saves her again that night, girls at school think she's dating him, obstacle training and he saves her again. Give me a break.

I'm totally reading the next volume.

Cute romance about firefighter. I'm not sure what to say about this because tbh I didn't connect with the characters but they had nice personalities.... if they were to die in the next volume tho... I wouldn't care.

I'm hoping to get more backstory from both sides and some more conflict because if not then this manga will get very boring, very fast.

Still cute tho!

Minus one star for age gap with a minor 🤦🏽‍♀️ Please. Stop. Making. Minor. Romances.

2020 Read #545

Meh. This isn’t exactly my kind of romance, even for a shojo manga, and I’m not the fondest of age-gap relationships either. But the fireman in question at least gets points for being respectful and conscious of the power imbalance between him and the heroine. I just don’t know if it’s a series worth continuing.

One of the Kodansha 80-ish manga. Haha. I picked this one up because I loved the title and the cover. Oh, if only I had known about the age difference. Because she is 15-16, and he is probably around 25. With her we can easily say how old she is, but him is a bit harder, it is not told, but given his job and how he acts I would say 20+. I am glad it is very much one-sided. For most she is drooling over him and trying to get his attention, and he just seems to treat her mostly as if a little sister. We do see that he has some feelings, but apparently he is able to keep it down, which makes me happy. I think this whole story would have just worked better had the MC been 18-20 instead of a teen. I would just have felt much more happy and comfortable.
I do love seeing our girl get more comfortable in school, open up more. And I loved seeing him do his firefighter stuff, and apparently also constantly having to save our MC. XD

This was a cute read!

I don't usually have issues with age gap manga since I feel they can be done really well, but I found the romance a little odd here because I feel Moe looks up to Kyosuke as a father-like figure than a man she likes? There were times it DID feel romantic and you and can see she DOES like him, but when she called Kyosuke her guidepost and always pushing her forward, I didn't really feel the overall vibe between them being romantic?

I did however REALLY like Kyosuke! He's so sweet even if he seems mean! He's extremely passionate and thought he was a nice male lead.

Moe was pretty cool and admire how fearless and bold she was. I'm definitely not that brave! LOL!

I really liked the parts about safety especially when it was able to naturally be woven into the story. An example being when Kyosuke is sick and Moe shakes him and he's like you should never do that to someone who is injured.

Overall, if I found a deal for the next volume, I would probably continue it as I do like the leads and the overall story. Also the art is nice!

I’m cringing. SO MUCH second hand embarrassment, and beyond cheesy. Kinda cute, but like I don’t know lol. My rule with manga is to give it until vol 3/4 to make a decision, so let’s see if this improves a bit.

Illustration is cute and pretty

It's a cute shoujo manga! The characters are nicely drawn. I really like our main characters and the side characters as well! I know going in it's about a highschooler and a firefighter, but I wished the FMC is a college student or working individual instead.

Worth?: Yeah

Is My Boyfriend in Orange bad? No, not really. Is it basic? Very much. Female Lead is very... clumsy and just written a bit poorly. The Male Lead is a bit of a mess. He is kind of annoying by saying she just gets in a way, which she does, but the way he says it is just annoying. If I sat down for a bit and just read straight through it it would have been a quick read.

Will I continue to read it? Yeah, as long as it is free in Kindle Unlimited.

She reminded me of Bella Swan and he's Edward Cullen. She kept winding up in a situation where he needed to save her. She kind of seemed like a child obsessing over their first crush...it wasn't bad and I'll continue reading but its very Edward/Bella right now where she wants to get to know him but he keeps her at a distance (for now)

Um, really not what I was expecting... I went in hoping for a wholesome, fluffy romance but I ended up cringing and rolling my eyes... I don't like the girl's character at all, and things are too convenient/unrealistic, and cheesy. Kinda disappointed.

High school girl falls for a super cute fireman and tries to get to know him. He rescues her constantly but that is also his job so it works. Adorable wish fulfillment fluff.

This is a cute age gap romance! I'm a sucker for a good age gap. Things are very innocent at this point, and I can see the potential in a future romantic relationship.

My Boyfriend in Orange is being promoted as an age gap romance but to me this is totally about a teenager crushing on a firefighter who happens to be an older man. I'm currently on volume 9 and there is no romance thus far.

Kyosuke Ebihara and Moe Sasaki first meet during a FIRE DRILL. He does not rescue her. You can't rescue someone during a drill. It was so melodramatic which is fine because manga but it continues to be this way where EbiharaSan (he and I are not on first name basis) keeps talking about how Moe needs to be rescued all the time. His patience with her is so thin. BTW Moe does not purposefully do things to get rescued. She's just a little clumsy in some instances, others she means well but gets caught up and other times it's just she's flustered due to the major crush she has on EbiharaSan.

Also... it's weird that EbiharaSan's friends, who are about his age if not older, are all about pushing him to pursue Moe but aren't willing to do it themselves! Because age... you know??? WEIRD. I'm good with age gap but Moe's 15 at the start of the series and midway turns 16 while EbiharaSan is about 24(?). There is no romance. EbiharaSan is emotionally non-available and you won't find out until volume 9 why and not even by him but a friend. He's a natural grump which is fine but I hate his calling Moe an idiot all the time. That is really making me want to sock him in the mouth.

The weirdest part so far, Moe has really great conversations with absolutely everyone on his team and nothing too great with her love interest. No wonder they all think she's so great. She is! She knows more about EbiharaSan's friends than she does about Ebi and they know more about her than Ebi does.

The plus side, because I like this series as long as Ebi and Moe aren't really interacting or when she sets his ass straight, is that everyone is pretty awesome in this series. There's world building, you get to know everyone's likes and dislikes and personality traits. It's like Moe gaining a whole other family and I love that for her since we quickly find out that she's mourning the loss of her dad. Throughout the series you see the most growth happen with Moe and again, I love it. I'm rolling with it until the end just because of everyone except Ebi. LOL
