A twisted version (okay, not really a version, so far) or spin-off from Alice in Wonderland that is more nightmare than fun fantasy. The original does have a deep dark streak running through it, but this takes it farther, not for the little kids. I was tempted to say it reminded me of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids but then you'd be expecting laughs. Has a kind of punk or maybe even Mad Max kinda feel.

A girl wakes up to find she has shrunk and now cats and birds and well, everything else puts her in danger. Then Alice shows up. Could be fun, may look at the next one. Creative, imaginative, playfully regressive and/or subversive.

What a strange mash-up, combining The Incredible Shrinking Man, Attack on Titan, Vol. 1, Under the Dome, Mad Max, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Our heroine and everyone in their Japanese neighborhood find themselves shrunken to about six inches one crazy morning. Birds, cats, and dogs, the innocuous predators that surround us every day unleash hell on the populace with much gore. Then things get crazy as a mysterious girl named Alice shows up, speaking only a foreign tongue and exhibiting supernatural powers. Full-size government forces seem more intent on containment than rescue. Tiny survivors quickly adapt bizarre trappings and lifestyles

It's a big unbelievable, over-the-top mess, but I'm tempted to try the next volume.

“I'm afraid I can't explain myself, sir. Because I am not myself, you see?”

Regardless of the cover (or my quote) this is not an Alice in Wonderland tale lovingly dictated in manga form. This is a story of horror and survival in a certain prefecture of Japan where something in the air has made all of humans exposed shrink to the size of dolls (and possibly make certain animals more aggressive.) Officially this book is rated Older Teen so use your best judgment before handing it to a younger reader.

Yukko is having a bad day. She wakes up to find her Cellphone alarm is going off and when she goes to turn it off she finds herself diminutive. Thankfully the family dog Poco recognizes and still listens to Yukko as she must begin her journey of discovery where she will meet new people and discover how hard life can be when you are very tiny. Fair warning to readers that if you shrink to a tiny size do consider avoiding your feline friends and birds. :)

My favorite scene jut might be the Madmax style bandits showing up in their RC cars assaulting people hiding in teddy bears. It may not be Alice in Wonderland but like there we are all mad down here. :)

Bizim jenerasyon “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” filmini hatırlayacaktır (çocuk yaştan, tüplü televizyon çağından beri seyretmedim bak, bir nostalji seyri yapmak istedim şimdi.

As I've done with some of the other manga series I've read, I'm going to write a more extensive review after I've finished all volumes.

I found this first volume intriguing, but a little too fast-paced.

description

Yukko awakes to find that she has shrunk down to the size of a doll. With the help of her dog, Poco, she manages to move about her house, looking for her parents. Shortly after she finds them and discovers that they are also tiny, they are killed by the family cat, and Yukko is forced to flee her house in search of help. She discovers that her family is not the only one that has shrunk ...

The reason I won't rate this higher is, as mentioned, that the story simply moves too quickly. In the space of less than 24 hours there are already fully formed and organised factions living in shopping malls, the outside world has already descended into complete chaos, and hordes of people are dead. I know this is a fantasy, and that the concept of people being shrunk down to the size of puppets is, per definition, highly unrealistic, still, within this particular fantasy world's sphere of realism, it would have been more reasonable to expect more time to pass between the shrinking and the breaking down of society.

Additionally, I found some panels rather confusing. Like with some of the other mangas I've read, "Wonderland" sometimes seems to skip a few steps from one panel to the next, and you're left going over the last pages again to try to figure out what you've missed.

The survival aspect of this manga is what I like best so far, that and the detailed, often grotesque artwork.

Also, Alice. She's awesome, adorable, and mysterious. I look forward to learning more about her.

description

The story, too, despite its hectic pacing, is interesting, and I'm definitely excited to see where this goes.

I got extremely shocked when i started this, because i was expecting some fluffy, flowery alice in wonderland story and the it became a horror real quick, when the cat entered the chatroom. omy like it was crazy!!!

so a girl wakes up in Japan and she is now little. at first i thought ok only she and she has to find a way "out" of this misery, but no; the whole town was changed to little and the second thing we learn about this new world: its deadly and you are the food now. to cats, to crows to any animal except her fluffy dog, who actually helps her a lot, like she can ride on his back<3
so her parents a murdered by the cat and she flees home to seek help. but later finds out that the government also kills the people instead of helping. also its some kind of virus? because one of the guys killing people gets a scratch in his overall, shrinks and then also gets murdered by his colleagues... oh man. a few little ones could get to safety in houses and our girl learns the hard way, that they aren´t friendly too, some got high on something and went of like mad max in little cars. she then bumps in another girl who helps her and from then on they travel together and her name is alice and she has some kind of power, because she could kill a guy from like 1m apart.
don´t know if i want to read that series completely because it freaked me out a lot but on the other side i want to know what happend and what is going to happen.

This manga started with Yukko, our MC woke up from sleep and finding herself has shrunken to smaller than her dog. Wondering what had happened, she come face to face to the struggle of being small and threaten also by a lot of predators. Later, she found out that she's not the only one!

It's a solid 3 stars which means a very average read in my rating. Average: nothing profound or interesting about it but not a bad story. I was interested in the story because it looked like a retelling. Then upon reading it, I realized that it was only inspired by Alice in Wonderland. So far as the first volume, there's only 2 things that are similar between the two; a character named Alice & our MC, Yukko is shrunken. Talking about Alice, I found her to be really robotic and I think the author intended it to be that way. Overall, I felt meh after I was done with it and still cant decide whether want to continue the series or not. Will decide later.

I'd say this is a promising manga. It's rather choppy, but despite that I did enjoy the pacing. I definitely feel this has potential, and so I'm really excited to learn more about what the heck happened it that prefecture hahah.

What the heck!! We dont know why but the residents of this town all shrink. Thinks you don't think about happen. Cats and birds move to the top of the food chain (darker than I anticipated). How do you feed your dog? I will definitely be reading more of this series!

Cats are evil.

No, I am not a hateful dog lady, I had a cat for 20 years that I loved more than anything, but after reading Wonderland the truth that cats are predators first and foremost will forever be stuck in my head. This book is not for the faint of heart, there is mild horror/gore, though it's not detailed to depict anything anatomical, for example we see a severed limb away from its body and blood but not anymore, it could still be unsettling for some.

The story is definitely intriguing. Everything from the fact of why has everyone shrunk, who is Alice, why is the title Wonderland, and some other stuff that I can't say as it could be considered a spoiler.

This was a total cover pick up for me as I am an Alice in Wonderland junkie (I didn't even read the back,) but even if I knew what was in store for me I still would've pick it up, if nothing else for Poco, (Yukko's trusty steed, a.k.a her dog,) and the mysteries. Plus, it's fun to see the world from a miniature perspective.

This is definitely an entertaining series that I look forward to continuing and unraveling its mysteries along with Yukko and co..

While I do appreciate taking the idea of everyone suddenly shrinking and making it dark instead of whimsical, this was so fucking depressing. I will give credit where credit is due, Ishikawa clearly thought about the struggles one would go through having inexplicably shrunk, but the overall tone and atmosphere, not to mention the SDF's response to the situation, was too dark and gloomy considering the current state of the world.

Also, the pacing was a tad too fast and it felt like I breezed through certain climatic/emotional moments without a chance to those moments sink in. On top of that, while I understand a series like this will have a lot of questions in the beginning, Alice's character throws way too more on top of the current situation. I feel like it would have been better if she had been introduced in volume's 2 or 3, maybe when there was more time to acclimate to the current situation and gotten some answers, but her introduction and abilities add so many more questions that it's a bit overwhelming to take it all in.

I don't think this is a bad series and I think people should give it a shot if they want a dark survival story, but this is a little too much for me at the moment.

This was probably one of the weirdest manga I have ever read... and that is saying a lot. I'm not even sure what to say about it? I was (obviously) attracted to this because the entire vibe draws heavily from one of my favorite stories but what this ACTUALLY is... is an uncomfortable, horrific sort of mess. The main character wakes up and everyone in her town has turned small. When she ventures outside she sees neighbors and friends being torn apart by cats and crows, gangs of small people killing each other and the government attempting to cover the entire thing up. Top is off with a strange encounter with a not normal girl calling herself Alice. I don't really know what to make of this one but it wasn't enjoyable so I won't be reading volume 2.

A 9/10 book in my opinion! A school girl wakes up one day to find out that all the people in her town have shrunk! The military is trying to keep the event away from the news as it is only one town which has had this issue. It becomes a bloody fight for survival between people and animals which now prey on them. All while the military is trying to capture a girl named Alice who cannot speak the same language as everyone whom she meets while shrunk. I would recommend this for sci-fi fans, fans of gore, and fans of what seems like the world ending :))

The scenes of the cat batting around its mini-masters were too violent for me, and that's just the first chapter. It's very post-apocalyptic in its "questing" plot, but the apocalypse is still going on intermittently during the story.

I think this has potential, but I'm just not hooked. (Also, author must really dislike or fear cats because they are the ultimate monster in this first volume. Author must like dogs though so that's a win for Poco-chan.)

The way Yukko looks so small against all the backgrounds it really nice and I love the image of her carrying a phone that's over half her size. (Riding on Poco's back is really cute too!) All the day-to-day objects as weapons or threats are really fascinating. However, when they go to the mall and find all the tiny humans driving remote control cars while high on paint thinner, it was a little too much.

Meanwhile, the military are rounding up all the shrunk people and gassing them. (To be fair, they could be knocking them out. We didn't actually see them kill anyone.)

The 'Alice' character is... really odd. She appears quite suddenly, wearing armor and carrying a sword, but she almost immediately reveals that it's a costume. She doesn't speak Yuuko's language aside from a few words. She may or may not have 'hand-wavey' powers. What is she? Did she come with the weird gas that shrunk everyone? Or did she wake up shrunk and think 'this is my day!'?

The art (the small characters and the too-big world) is the most interesting thing about this manga, but it's not enough to carry me into the next volume. 2/5

What happens when you shrink a whole population of a Tokyo prefecture down to the size of a classic Star Wars action figure? You produce thousands of cat toys and fodder for the birds! This series opens up frightening and stays that way throughout. And, if the cats and birds don’t get you, mankind’s greatest predator, other humans, will get you instead. Paint sniffing hooligans intent on violence and shadow government agencies bent on containment pursue miniature survivors at every turn. This was a wild start. I enjoyed the art in Wonderland. Either Yugo Ishikawa has a deft hand at blending photo reference seamlessly into his artistic vision or he is a skilled draftsman, creating depth and realism in his chaotic world. Either way, his panels are filled with gorgeous yet brutal illustrations.

Lets start by stating the obvious for everyone who has read this, it is NOT a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I got this thinking that it would be and while I am disappointed that it isn't my favorite tale in manga form, I really enjoyed it.
This story follows our main character Yukko as she tries desperately to figure out what the hell happened..why and how did everyone shrink? What is happening in their neighborhood?
This is definitely a horror manga with some really big Attack on Titan vibes, at least for me personally. I enjoyed the graphic "what the fuck" nature of this manga and will be continuing on because, lets face it, I want to know just badly as Yukko what the f*** is happening.
I love the art style of this manga which is a huge thing for me when it comes to this format of reading. Throughout reading this first volume I found myself turning to my fiance in disbelief saying "what the hell is going on...what am I reading??" I LOVED IT.
My rating for this is 5 starts. It was just the manga I was looking for coming off of what is available for Attack on Titan.

Interesting idea. One day a prefecture in Japan suddenly shrinks. The first chapter shows the risks: all the crows are having a feeding frenzy and the family cat is killing the family. It feels a little too much, like absolutely nowhere is safe. As it went on, we realized that's because the whole thing just feels like a zombie story in slightly different strokes. The government is doing shady things! People are splitting off into gangs and killing wildly! It has some fun with the characters being small, but it ends up feeling like it can't decide whether it's comedy, horror, or sci-fi mystery, and it's split so much it's not good at any of them.

I am honestly not sure if I liked it. It was a little weird. And it doesn't give much of a story of what is going on. It is about a girl that wakes up and she is tiny. And she wakes up to find the Cat killing her parents (who have also shrunk). She goes out to try and find help. She meets a girl named Alice along the way. They find other Tiny people. And they are all trying to survive.
I think this is a ⭐⭐.5 out of 5 stars. I feel like if I had the rest of the series I would understand it alittle better.
