Emotional and heartwarming!
Jake was the carefree bachelor of the trio of founders of the Stag Distillery and never had a reason to change. Alexis lost her fiancé mere weeks before their wedding. For a year they had corresponded, for a year Jake had been Alex’s rock, confidant and long distance best friend. Now Alex is home, still nursing her broken heart, lost in the past, the pain and the regrets of all she lost.

When Jake’s footloose approach to women threatens the distillery’s success and reputation, Alex becomes his ba
Two people, not looking for love, find it in the most unexpected place.

Whether you are emotionally scarred or don't even realize what you looking for to fill that whole in your life, Maybe for You gives us a marvelous story about grabbing what might be right in front of you. The quintessential slow building relationship. The characters, mostly Alexis, are a bit over the top with drama and their emotional vacillations but overall it is a strong romantic read. In the end, Maybe for You rings the

3rd in the Whiskey and Weddings series. Can be read as a standalone romance.

This book is an emotionally wringing story starting from the recovery of a lost love to friendship and then new love. Of course, complications in the relationship put added strain on the couple.

Honestly, I didn’t like the drama of it all. Yes, I conceptually understand lose and how devastating it would be. She gives up any career options for a year to exist as a part time receptionist
Alexis Parker has never been lucky in love, her parents were killed in a car accident, she was brought up by her older brother Dean and his wife Amy as if she were their daughter, until the two of them separated over Dean's infertility, and then her fiancee Nate is killed only weeks before their wedding. After Nate's death she spends the final 12 months of her military career in Italy trying to make sense of her life.

After a slow start, and a pleasantly meandering middle, Maybe For You ended well.

Jake and Alexis forged a friendship through emails and Facebook Messenger while Alexis was stationed for a year in Italy. The friendship couldn’t have come at a better time for Alexis. Having just lost her fiancé in a helicopter crash, Jake was there for her to work through her emotions and as sounding board for her thoughts and feelings. He was a safe place to share because unlike her older brother - w

I really enjoyed the first half of this book, but the second half was not my cup of tea and I had some issues with it on top of that.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
A sweet, romantic and sexy story about friendship, family, heartbreak, love and moving on. A well written, in places emotional story with realistic characters.
This was my first book which I have read by this author but definitely will not be the last.

When life doesn't turn out how you planned, maybe it's time to head in a new direction. Maybe For You is a tale of heartbreaking loss, surprising new beginnings and witty dialogue. McLaughlin stages the ultimate road trip for a brokenhearted almost bride and playboy on the mend. Alexis is learning how to live again after a tragic loss. Her second chance comes in the form of a dashing coworker with a reputation for playing the field. Jake and Alexis take a business trip that changes the course of ...more

I love the setting for this series - a distillery in KC that has a room used for weddings et al. Stag Distillery - owned and operated by three guys who were of course single when the series started. The first two books took care of Dean and TJ, now it is Jake's turn to meet his fate. Of course like most books, the road to true happiness is set with land mines and in this case it is Alex's memories of her dead fiance that was killed just weeks before their wedding. Sure it has been a year but she ...more

Maybe For You is Nicole McLaughlin’s third book in her Whiskey and Weddings series set in Kansas City, Kansas. This story addresses the third distillery owner, Jake Cooper, head of marketing and internet presence. At 32, Jake is well known as a swinging bachelor. His road trips promoting their brand are somewhat notorious, to the point there has been a complaint.

When co-owner Dean Troyer’s sister, a military veteran, returns home for a brief stint before beginning a new CIA position, she readil

When I first read the back cover copy of this book, my first thought was, sign me up! A road trip romance? Yes, please!

Unfortunately though, I was a little disappointed which is why I only gave this book four stars. My slight disappointment (and I do mean slight, this book was fantastic in almost every other way), was that I expected the road trip to be the main part of the story. In reality, its less than half of the book. The remaining part of the story is Alexis and Jake figuring out h

McLaughlin’s #3 in her Whiskey and Weddings trilogy is a poignant friend to lover tale about love, loss and second chances. Starring the Stag distillery playboy co- owner Jake and Alex, the returning vet and younger sister of another owner, Dean (Maybe I Do) who has experienced more than her share of loss in her young life. The road-trip in the Stag RV was wonderfully done and showcases the burgeoning relationship between Jake and Alex beautif

Loved this wonderful love story. Loved how Alexis dealt with grief of losing Nate, her fiancé, just before the wedding. Loved how Jake helped her through that tough time, just by offering his friendship and being a good listener.

Jake was such an amazing guy. Yup! super handsome, too! He and Alex didn't look like they'd make a good match at first glance. She was super smart while he had learning disability. His family hoped he could just graduate from high school and make a decent living. But he

I loved the relationship between Alex and Jake in this book. Both characters have had a lot of pain and angst in their lives. Alex lost her fiance in the military. Yes, it pretty much rules her life. It appears a lot of readers have problems with that. My husband was friends with a couple he met overseas while stationed in Kosovo. A couple of years after they married he was killed in Extortion 17. He was the helicopter pilot. I can tell you, that pain and agony does totally take over the lives o ...more

Alexis Parker, sister of Dean, is back stateside after a year-long deployment in Italy. For the past year she has been in mourning for her fiance, Nate, who was killed in a helicopter accident just weeks before their wedding.

Coming back to her family and her brother and his two partners in the distillary, she still hasn't really faced her grief and the loving couples all around her are like salt in a wound.

Not only is this a story about finding love again after tragedy and grief, this is also about finding the courage to remain alive each day. It is about finding your place in the world and your purpose.
Alex is mourning her love who died shortly before their wedding. She is also mourning the plans they had made for life after their tour of duty commitment was complete. Making new plans feels like a betrayal.

Jake is the only unattached male of the trio of distillery owners. While he tries to be a g

Boy, the name of this book is very apropos. I have not read the two previous books of this series so I can say with certainty that this is a standalone, but there was enough info given, that I felt that i could grasp the previous books and how they related to this one. Loved Jake as a reformed womanizer, and actually liked him much better than Alex. I liked and understood her through the first half of this book, but frankly 3/4 of the way through I just wanted her to get out of her head. She too ...more

I absolutely loved this trilogy! Honestly, all three of the books in the series were so enjoyable, sweet, and hopeful. I was charmed by the guys, friends and co-owners of The Keg, distillery and wedding venue, and wanted to befriend the girls. I enjoyed the dynamics between the various couples and the healthy relationships they embodied. I also appreciated the camaraderie and closeness between the female counterparts.

I absolutely adored this book. I read it in one day because I couldn't put it down.

Alex and Jake are such great, complex characters. McLaughlin really lets Alex ride an emotional roller coaster and she grows and takes steps back just like a real person in her place would. Jake does such a good job bouncing off Alex and letting her be a fully thought out character while still bringing his own story and development to the table.

I've loved this whole series but this is by far my favorite. The cha

This was a great read. There is a sweet romance that develops after starting out as a fling. It's been a year since Alexis lost her fiance Nate and while she wants to move on and start over it's been hard. Now she's back from Italy and has a new job lined up that will start in a couple of months. To pass the time she's working at Stag Distillery. Hitting the road with Stag's resident playboy Jake Cooper wasn't how she expected to spend her time but being with Jake and experiencing life again may ...more

I liked Alex and Jake. I got a bit irritated with Alex in parts of the story, but I liked them overall. While Alex is grieving, Jake becomes her best friend. That is what she needs. After she comes back home, things change and Jake wants more. He won't pressure Alex for more because he knows that she has her life plan and he doesn't want to interfere with that. Alex has lost too many loved ones and will not open herself up for that again. When circumstances change, will Alex decide to open her h ...more

Maybe for You is, in parts, an emotional story. Alex and her fiancé Nathan were in the military and due to get married, unfortunately he was killed in a helicopter accident just before the wedding, which understandably is heartbreaking and life altering. Dean is Alex's brother who owns a distillery in Kansas with his two best friends, TJ and Jake. As the story begins, Alex is preparing to leave for Italy to do a tour for the military so she can get away from the memories, and hopeful

This is an achingly sweet and heartwarming story. Jake is a sweet, adorable and special guy. Alex is a smart, stubborn and vulnerable woman. They developed a friendship while she was overseas mourning her dead fiance, then progressed to lovers on a work road trip. And while he starts to have feelings for her, she is so focused on moving forward that she refuses to even consider having any type of relationship with him. An unexpected twist turns their lives upside down and has him fighting to kee ...more

Jake is an honest man, “Alex, there was nothing gentlemanly about me kissing you. I wanted it. I want it again..." I liked the gooey feelings Jake gets with his woman, "...stepping forward, she reached up and kissed his cheek. “Thank you.” Suddenly feeling protective and— what else, he couldn’t say— just weird, he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his chest." I liked this book, I really loved Jake.

Maybe for You broke my heart. I should have known that this book was going to make me cry by the first chapter. Alexis's pain over Nate's death was gut-wrenching. It came off the pages in waves. My heart broke for her. She needed to start healing. The first step to doing that was her taking the post in Italy. What I liked is that the author didn't detail Alexis's time in Italy. All I knew is that when she came home, she had somewhat healed and was starting to live again. Which was great and set ...more
