5 stars!

Well this was simply one of the best volumes I’ve read of Dreamin’ Sun so far! There are quite a few big reveals in this which I really appreciated alongside the usual silliness and heartache. The main characters are wonderful and I honestly think of them as extended family. I’m super sad that there’s only two volumes left :(

If you want a charming and cute read, please give Dreamin’ Sun a chance - it’s a magical slice of life shoujo manga!

3.5?

wow! still don't love the endgame ship we're headed toward rn but that is not going to keep me from finishing this series!

I love all of the side characters in this tho and kind of wish we got to see more of them.

I HATE IT HERE!!! Reading this is so painful I don't know why I keep doing it. I guess I just really want to see how it'll end.

Zen gets treated so badly. He's yanked around and used and left behind, but he still follows Shimana around happily because he's "in love." Same with Shimana, the landlord is rude to her and he can't deal with his own feelings and insecurities and he's making her wait for him to maybe reciprocate her feelings, but he makes no sense. It seems like he likes her, but he's pretty mean, which honestly isn't a complete negative to me, but I just hate their relationship. Then Miura's cousin got introduced and I truly don't understand the point of his character. First of all, he's Shimana's friend's boyfriend, but suddenly he wants to date Shimana? Like there's no talk of him breaking up with the friend or what the friend thinks about this, but honestly the friends are irrelevant characters. I don't even know if he wants to date Shimana or if that's just part of the dad's plans. And I mean the dad keeps interfering with their relationship, but his main gripe is that he doesn't want his adult son to date a high school student so how does that make him the worst? The landlord doesn't even want to date her! He says he doesn't reciprocate her feelings and that he doesn't like women so WHAT'S THE POINT. It seems like he likes Shimana sometimes, but I don't know it just seems off. There's absolutely no chemistry.

I think the main conflict would've been more interesting if it revolved around them losing the house because that scene they had at the end was cute about them wanting to be a family and stay together. Like this story could've focused better on their difficult home lives and their character growth, but instead everyone is just very invested in each other's love lives. I don't understand why everyone likes Shimana so much. All she does is cry, fall in love with a guy that's kind of nice to her, and fall down a lot. She always needs saving, and she's done a few things, but I wish we could see more that isn't just her "bravely" confessing her feelings for the thousandth time.

Also her crush on Asahi was kind of pointless. It honestly doesn't feel like that was even a thing anymore. Then to top it all off the girl Asahi has been in love with is actually his half sister so like that's great.

I think there's so many other things this story could've focused on that would've made it better, but that crappy romance is what it chose to follow and I hate it. It's so cringey I can't handle it.

I don't care about the events happening anymore. I don't like Shimana as a main character. Zen deserves to be treated better, he's probably the only one that's keeping me reading.

Can I just live in this manga? It’s so cute and adorable and all I want to do is live in these good feelings forever! This volume was filled with so much! Confessions, funny moments and moments of bravery. This volume made me love all the characters even more as they are so adorable and fun. I was always on the fence with the landlord, but this volume made me just fall in love with him.
I love how Ichigo Takano tells this story. The story is so sweet and cute, and I can’t help falling into this story so easily. It’s such a sweet and fun story. Sure, some of the things can get a bit ridiculous but that is why I love it so much. I cannot wait for volume nine and to see where everything is going to go.

Volume Review: 4/5
This volume was a whole lot of "what on earth are you thinking?!" Shimana means well but is pretty stupid pretending to date someone else and Zen of course takes full advantage of it. Basically the only reason it was enjoyable is because Taiyou got jealous. Also I don't get the hat guy and what he's doing there. He's kinda weird. Still, I love these characters. It's a pretty thick volume and the art as usual is great. Taiyou is finally stepping up his act a bit.

Oh and there's a bombshell for poor Asahi. I almost cried. Actually I did tear up. I felt so bad for him.

And I don't even know who the girl on the cover is … ??

I think many people can sympathize with Zen. He tried to get over Shimana but he couldn’t it. He is honest and he convey his feeling to her. So I respect him.

I really enjoyed this one. I loved the dynamic and relationship between everyone in the house and outside of it. These characters have really grown on me after all. It has a similar feel to Fruits Basket as in house/family dynamics.

I can't wait how everything is going to turn out.

A fun volume that I thought was especially strong as it really highlighted the close-knit relationship between all the housemates. The Landlord’s dad doesn’t approve of Shimana (which okay –fair–but not for the reasons he espouses) and threatens to sell the house out from under them if she doesn’t leave.
As drama filled as you could possibly imagine, but also sweet. A fast-reading fluffy manga snack.

Another quick and fun read.
This volume follows Shimana as she tries to find a solution with the upcoming house problem. Taiga’s dad is determined to take her back to her parents but she doesn’t want to. A new guy enters the game because he wants to date Shimana and be with her but he’s working for taiga’s dad and she discovers the lies. In the end, asahi has an idea. During the fireworks zen has to confess her feelings towards Shimana and she has to be into him. It’s kind of fake dating but zen feelings are real. We also meet the popular girl and she seems to be into zen but he doesn’t notice it because he’s into Shimana. During firework night she gets ready because she wants to wear a yukata and she wants the landlord to notice her. However, he’s not there. Shimana and zen execute the plan and he confesses his feelings in fron of everyone. He wants to make her happy and he wants to be with her. After that Shimana sees the landlord and goes after him. He believes that she should date zen instead because she looked happy during the confession, but Shimana wants to be with him. The other guy hears everything and he blackmails Shimana again. She has to date him and he wouldn’t say a word to Fujiwara. Taiga steps in and tells him to stay away from her. She can date zen but he doesn’t care about the house.
Later on we see taiga struggling with the house thing. His dad is determined to make them leave but they don’t want to. Asahi, Zen and Shimana talk about their favorite memories and they realize they don’t want to leave. Taiga listens to everything and he has a plan. If he doesn’t leave the house his dad will transfer him to Okinawa. If he stays he would lose the house and the guys. He decides to make some more memories with Shimana and they decide to go to the beach.
As I said before this is a quick read. I’m still not into the romance and I don’t understand why in each volume zen has to confess her feelings towards Shimana just to get rejected in the end. She always listens to him and then runs up towards the landlord and zen doesn’t give up. In this volume at least Shimana acknowledged how grateful she is for his friendship and how much she appreciates having him by her side which is nice, even if it’s not love. Also I think the landlord is kind of meh towards her. After zens confession he finally gathered the courage to made a half confession. He’s not in love with Shimana but he might be eventually and honestly what else does he need?. She’s always there for him, she confessed her love in front of everyone and the guy is still not into it. Also the whole “kidnapping” thing to take Shimana home… where are her parents? Why is fujiwara sending people after her?. And why is this new guy into her and wants her to be with him when he doesn’t even know her name?
I’m looking forward to read the next one because it’s fun and entertaining

Now, this is just getting annoying with the back and forth of Shimana’s feelings. Zen is still adorable and much more age-appropriate than Taiga/Mr. Landlord, but if he’s done with pursuing Shimana, then he needs to be done for real. Every time he backtracks about how much he loves her and wants to date her, and it's just getting a little desperate.

Idk why the mangaka decided to go in that direction with Asahi. Top tier soap opera stuff, guys.

On a positive note, I liked the ending with the group shouting their feelings across the river. So cute!

This was a cringefest. Miura is weird as hell. Yet, I can't help but wonder if his perplexing actions are meant to steer Taiyou to figure out more about his own feelings. Hence, it seems like he's pulling apart the main couple but at the same time helping Taiyou. Zen gaslighting himself was a pain to watch. Why are you so silly to fall for Shimana... Meanwhile, Taiyou has an answer to Shimana's confession but is playing the mysterious card like ?? Last but not least, Asahi... his life is sad right now.

Couldn't on this volume, almost done with re-reading the whole series and... I still love it but the whole "dad will sell my house cause I like you" situation is so ridiculous I can't 😂

Also one thing I didn't pay attention much to the first time I read it (probably cause I was 13) that's bugging me A LOT right now is the age difference ( and it's more uncomfortable since she calles him "landlord" all the time) how old is him like 24??? 26????? That's Illegal sir

I feel no sympathy for Zen, because he keeps asking for it. Go home, and help care for your baby siblings! Stop living your life glued to the girl you are trying to get over. Stop trying to pressure a girl, who has constantly turned you down, into dating you! Stop dumping your feelings on her. She knows, you were honest, now do your own emotional work.

Every side plot is so much more interesting and less icky than the main plot.

I do NOT like Taiga-san’s father and hope he gets really sick so he can stop emotionally/mentally manipulate other people, especially Taiga and Shimana. Zen is still very precious and I wish him all of the happiness in the world.
Also, the plot twist got brought back up in the BIGGEST way and I absolutely didn’t see that coming. I feel so bad for Asashi and want to give him lots of hugs.

Every volume review for the rest of the series is just going to be me yelling that Zen deserves so much better. I'm fine with the end relationship at this point just because Shimana doesn't deserve Zen. I can't believe I only have 2 more volumes to read. I'm both excited and sad to be finishing up this series soon.

I’m beginning to ask myself if this is all satire? Am I crazy for being shocked at how unhinged this series is? From the perfect mature beautiful boy, Zen, being turned down yet again, a clueless Shimana, and a case of almost incest? Thank you to my mother and Libby for letting me read this online and save $150 CAD 🥲

I liked this volume a lot! 💖 Zen and Shimana had a lot of page time together 😍 I also love Asahi so much and he had a bit of development in this one as well! It ended on a really good note and made me really excited for the next volume! 😄
