Science fiction of the weird, wonderful, and hilarious kind, that is what ‘And God Belched’ has to offer. But it is also built around the fascinating concept of parallel universes, the intriguing idea of aliens who may look like us but are far superior (in a few ways, if not all, as it turns out), and quirky characters who are multifaceted and so interesting that I would love to meet them in real life. As for the plot? Fantastical is putting it carefully – I don’t really have the words to ...more

This is an interesting story with some clever, well-crafted ideas. The lead character is portrayed, as being twenty-two but the style of writing and maturity are clearly of teenage years. Written from a first person perspective the book is driven by a youthful naivety that lacks reflection or depth. Once the reader accepts this then you are not constantly left to question what is happening or why consequences are not important. All of the characters have defining characteristics, but could ...more

Another great, funny book. I'd like a snarky little brother like Craig :^)

Just finished reading the ARC of And God Belched and all I can say is, WOW, what an awesome book! Rosen has outdone himself with this one. This is an M/M romance with a sci-fi twist, and, like all of Rosen's books, it's 100% pure laugh-out-loud funny. Oh, and it's a heart-pounding adventure, too. Without giving too much away, Randy, along with his younger brother, Craig, find themselves in a different universe in search of a stranger that has disappeared. Randy and this stranger have a sort of ...more

I devoured this book, could not put it down! Randy and his brother Craig find themselves trapped on an alien world while searching for Milo, Randy's love interest in the book. Sounds fairly standard, though this novel is anything but that. The adventure starts right away and never lets up. The romance is the same way, as is the humor. But the author also manages quite a bit of pathos, philosophy (When you have everything you could possibly want, what's the point of living?), drama, suspense, and ...more

Collect Rob Rosen's latest book for a summer beach read! It's a fun gay Sci-fi romp.

Randy, a 22-year-old college graduate living at home, and his nerdy younger brother Craig discover a door into a parallel universe, somewhat familiar and somewhat different than Earth. Randy's interested in Milo, an alien resident of the other universe who has been arrested for making contact with Randy and is, well, hot... Randy and Craig set out on an improbable adventure to rescue Milo, aided by some alien

I honestly don't know how to describe this book since it was equal parts romance and sci-fi and suspense. What I can tell you is that I laughed. I laughed from beginning to end. I laughed on almost every page. I've read Rob Rosen's books before, and he never fails to deliver. And God Belched is simply an enjoyable read, with characters that are memorable and likable, characters that you root for and are afraid for in the multiple situations Rob Rosen puts them in. Tag, the "guide" throughout the ...more

From that review: "Wow! Another Rob Rosen fantabulous whackadoodle tale! I mean you know that going in...because, hey...it's Rob Rosen...but that's exactly why I love to read him. For stories like And God Belched!

And God Belched has Rob Rosen running happily amuck through the science fiction universe, devising his only theories of Creationism and the Origins of the Universe in

This is a genius of a sci-fi novel, taking the opening words of the Bible and shifting them just a bit to create multiple new universes. The author then puts a human and his entire family, not to mention the entire Earth, in great peril when said human finds himself in one of those other universes, all while searching for the missing potential love of his life. This is an edge of your seat, roller-coaster of a ride novel, with twists and turns on every page. Loved it, loved the characters, loved ...more

The book, as the characters, doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s playing with the codes of the genre and twists them just enough to make it funny while still keeping the whole adventure, suspense, science-fiction vibe. I don’t think it’s a book for everyone, it’s a writing style that either works or really doesn’t, but if you read the first page and like that? Then hop in, you’ll be up for a wild ride. Filled with boners, but again Randy isn’t named Randy for nothing…

Full review to come.

This was an enjoyable read, and well written. The plot was very different, and I loved the world building. It is obvious a lot of thought had gone into it. However, I didn’t quite connect to the characters, and that is what draws me into a story. There was also a bit too much sex for my taste, but that’s a personal reading preference, so might not detract as much for other readers.

In a word: stupendous. I needed a good laugh. I needed an original story to dive into. I needed some man-on-man, red-hot romance. I got all three in droves. Best book I've read in months. Five stars? Can I please have six?

Rob Rosen has written a sci fi comedy that will have appeal to fans of Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe) and Terry Pratchett (Discworld series). It may not hit the comic heights of those grand masters, but it’s a story with a lot of heart. Read my full review at Queer Sci Fi.
