Thanks for the review, my friend. I was inspired to write the book after a friend of mine was murdered and the justice system failed to do what was right. Even with clear evidence, they made a deal to take down one guy instead of both. My frustration boiled over and you'll find a chapter in this book where the main character deals with that piece of shit. (less)

I received a copy this book from the author, Jamie Hall, in exchange for an honest review.

No Heroes starts with an introduction to the main character, Michael, as he attends his father's funeral. Michael had a difficult childhood, his father was a police officer and his mother was self-absorbed. At the time of his father's death Michael was estranged from him and we see the internal struggle of him dealing with his feelings of abandonment, disappointment and grief. Michael's father leaves him

I was not sure what to feel when I first started reading this book.

As the blurb says, Micheal is on search of his father's killer while constantly fighting his inner demons.

What I concluded at first about Micheal was that, he lived in his own virtual reality. He wanted things to be how he sees but that never happened. Being from a broken family in which his father died and his mother is a self centered character, he finds it difficult to open up. The only character he open up to in the first

When I look at us, my generation, I feel like we are always searching for something. Growing up on high doses of myth and fairy tales and horror and crime- we feel a lot at home in the fictional world than in real life. Many a times we get branded as escapists by our seniors and with reason they do so. The protagonist in the book is running too. He is searching as well, like many of this generation. His search is for his father's killer and that's where he is different from the others. But isn't ...more

The title and cover of the book is quite unique and totally apt for the story especially the title. I loved the title. The story is full of twists and turns. I liked author's writing style. The writing style brings images in your mind. The pace of the story is neither fast nor slow. It’s a medium paced story with an intriguing storyline. Language is lucid. The book falls under thriller and anyone who likes this genre will fall in love with this book. The character development is very good. The ...more

I am an avid reader and loved the book. In some ways the book reminded me of the style of John Grisham but there were many twists and turns as well as surprises that I did not expect. Some might call Michael a vigilante but I see him as a man who was trying to fix what the judicial system either couldn't or wouldn't.
The author has one hell of an imagination but yet you know he has done his homework. Facts are facts and the book will keep you engaged and many things you just won't see coming.

No Heroes by Jamie Hall is a suspense thriller. Suspense because it’s packed with twists and turns and you’re not sure who’s showing their true colors and who’s not what they seem. Thriller because it’s non-stop action.

Michael, despite his flaws, is the character I rooted for. Despite his pain and aloofness, he is the hero. But because of his way of doing things, he is not just a hero but a villain as well.

When I first started reading No Heroes, I thought it was kinda comedic. It got darker as I

No Heroes is a good book but not what I was expecting from this author after 7 Deadly Women. Jamie's first book was about sex and relationships. This one is dark and about crime. Just not what I expected although my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. Authors generally stick to their genre and in this case he just didn't. Like I said this is a good book. The characters are written well and so are the relationships but they're limited so I didn't enjoy the read as much because I was expecting ...more

This book should be a movie or a graphic novel. It's an origin story of sorts so it takes 12 or so chapters to get into the action but you have to develop characters somehow. I see some people online calling this an action thriller but really i feel like it's a relationship driven book..........parents, girlfriends, enemies it's all there. I loved how he started his mission that drives the second half of the story. He searches long and hard to figure out how he can make a difference then fate ...more

Michael, the main character had some really refreshing thoughts, giving us an insight into what his character would come to be. Coupled with an existential crisis and a dark disease slowly harvesting on him, we see some interesting twists and turns in Michael’s character and his inner turmoil. Michael is no hero, he is only human and I absolutely love this pitch.

The author has a very unique writing voice that urges you to keep reading on and a style of imagery that brings to mind some vivid

Full disclosure that I am not a big reader and really only got this book because I went to school with the author. At first I bought it to be nice but then I started to read it and the way Michael thought about life hooked me in. I read the whole book over vacation in Cuba and I enjoyed every page. Way to go Jamie!

I know the author of this book quite well and asked any people he knows to make a review after they are done the book. This is my first review ever. I never heard of this site before. Jamie has a vivid imagination. I didn't know Jamie when he released his first book so I never read it-I'm not a big reader as I have no time. This time around Jamie held his release for No Heroes at one of my businesses. I've never seen so many people at a book release before. I got the book out courtesy never ...more

I suspect most people would give the same review as me. This book is dark and detailed. The way the author deals with mortality and the line between right and wrong can make you want to put the book down at times. Definitely not something you want to read at night unless you want to lay up all night thinking about darkness. I loved the book because it's a different take on heroes which can be done the same to death. The comedy is definitely on par with Mr Hall's first book though you won't find ...more

I found this book confusing, raw, at times completely unethical and unrealistic but all the while it was clear, vivid, made me question a lot and grounded in reality. How is that possible? Well the first time I read the book was right after the release event in my hometown of Vancouver. I put it down and it bothered me so I read it again. This is one of those that you have to read at least twice to fully grasp what happened. The build up to the action is long but it makes sense. A lot of factors ...more

This book is fantastic and vivid. It's very disturbing the way some of the crimes are described. The main character goes through a lot and I felt exhausted just reading about it all. Great second effort from a fantastic writer. I also enjoy his blogs.

I went through this book quickly, not because it's a short read, but because the subject matter is actually interesting and puts a relatable turn on situations that have become the norm. If you love crime and revenge thrillers, this is one for you.

This book is a crazy combination of sharp wit and thrilling chaos that has you questioning the line between right and wrong all along the way. This book is finding hope in the horror and love in the darkness. Definitely a unique read I didn't want to put down.

The first thing that lured me towards this book was its tagline with an & instead of the expected or in the line Kill & Be Killed and then came the cunning cover of the book that made me believe this one is one good thriller that will have a competing touch to any Hollywood movie. But was my assumption correct? Let's find out!

Kill & be killed
By Jamie Hall.

This is a thriller that beats any binge-watching session hands down. Very rarely, does one come across books that can make you feel the way this book does. The story is about Micheal, a very regular individual who has problems that anyone could relate to. The book opens with him attending his dad’s funeral. His relationship with his dad and his mental state at that moment is very well portrayed in the first chapter itself and it sets the foundation for
