I've given this a B- at AAR, so that's 3.5 stars rounded up.

Lord Stanton’s Last Mistress is the final book in Lara Temple’s  Wild Lords and Innocent Ladies  trilogy, which features the members of the ‘Wild Hunt’, three men who have been friends since their schooldays and who served together during the Napoleonic Wars.  In books one and two, Gabriel, Lord Hunter and Alan, Marquess of Ravenscar met their matches, and now it’s the turn of the enigmatic Alexander, Lord Stanton, a man whose iron self

Alexander, Lord Stanton, had been wounded near the Mediterranean island of Illiakos, where he was tended to by a mysterious veiled woman. He didn’t know her name, he hadn’t seen her face, yet years later he still remembered her with fondness. Christina James had been taken in by King Darius of Illiakos, and eventually Christina became governess and companion to his daughter Princess Ariadne. Christina, like every woman on the island, had been charmed by Lord Stanton’s good looks, and nearly acce ...more

What a finale!! This is wonderful and romantic series about finding love and conquering past ghosts is book three in the Wild Lords and Innocent Ladies series. I have been engrossed with the series and getting to know each of these characters and following them of their journey’s, each book takes the reader on a story that is both utterly devastating and brilliantly romantic. Temple has gifted readers with a thoroughly dazzling, utterly romantic and unbelievably layered and intricate plot.

Naughtiness 3 *

Absolutely enchanting, I seriously wept for both hero and heroine more than once, but I am besotted with this book and very much recommend it aswell as its sisters in the series though they can be read as stand alones.

I won't give spoilers, but will say this truly is an awesome story with adventure, love, surprises and the magic of love which as always is the best medicine. Once again our dear Scribe Lara most definitely does not disappoint, there are very many aspects of this boo

OMG this book was brilliant, I instantly loved Alex, he comes across as hard, that's mainly because he had a lot to deal with. But underneath that hard exterior Alex has a warm loving heart, and that shows when he talking about his stepmother and his sisters...but also Alex has a talent for carving figurines, which Christina has a fondness for and little by little Alex opens up to Christina about his past.

The best way to describe Christina is she is the best friend and sister a lot of people wou

Once again Lara Temple has proven she knows how to make her characters stand out! Christina and Alexander are intriguing people and the supporting cast makes Lord Stanton's Last Mistress an interesting read. In the prologue, Christina is tasked with tending to the mystery Englishman. What she hadn't bargained on is having suspicious emotions come alive in her. However, once she gets to know the man behind the scars, she cannot help falling in love! Lord Stanton's Last Mistress is a beautiful and ...more

Six years ago, Alexander Stanton was badly wounded while on the island of Illiakos. If Alexander should die, it would cause major diplomatic problems, so the king calls on Christina James to use all her skills to nurse him back to health. Christina is the orphaned daughter of a doctor, who was taken in by the king to be a caretaker and companion for his daughter, Princess Ari. Her dedicated care has Alexander coming back to the land of the li

The first time I read about Alexander Stanton in book one I had no idea what to think about him. Hell... I started this book with only curiosity in my mind, so I didn't had expectations, I just wanted to have fun. And boy did I have fun...

The book starts with how Alex and Chrissie met, in Illiakos, while Alexander is wounded and Christina is ordered by the King to help the man recover from his injuries by being his nurse. Then we move forward 6 years, in England, and that's when and here the boo

“Someone tried to kill you?”
“Not everyone finds me charming.”

Injured by a wayward bullet, Lord Alexander Stanton finds himself barely conscious and being looked after by Christina James on the island of Illiakos. The fact that Christina is wearing veils (or a tent as Alex would describe them) doesn’t stop Alex flirting with his nurse and impulsively asking her to leave with him when he has recovered. Naturally, Christina doesn’t leave, but, as we are to discover, Alex and Christina’s lives have

Lord Stanton's Last Mistress by author Lara Temple is 3rd and last in her Wild Lords and Innocent Ladies Series and I must say I'm truly sad to see this series end! I absolutely loved each and every book but this one truly grabbed my attention and didn't let go! I caught myself picking up my Kindle throughout the day to finish another page or two...

Alexander and Christina met 6 years earlier on the island of Illiakos when Christina helped Alex recover after he was severely wounded. Christina wor

Lord Stanton’s Last Mistress is a wonderful story about the triumph of love over the test of time. The book starts with Alexander and Christina meeting and being instantly attracted to one another. They are then brought together again six years later and the attraction between them, which never actually went away is something neither of them can now ignore or suppress.

Alex is a deep and intriguing character with plenty of inner conflict and demons to fight before he gets his happily ever after.

A diplomatic meeting brings a young woman Stanton has never forgotten back into is life. But emotional turmoil in his past creates reticence in his pursuit. Her loyalties may prevent her living her own life. A tug of war game between two hearts that want to be together. Hold on to the tissues.

If Lord Hunter and his Nell Tilney took us into their cozy and breathtaking love story, and Lord Ravenscar and his Lily Wallace set us on fire with their exotic passion, the situation is completely different with Lord Stanton and Christina James.
This is the kind of attraction we need to see in romance novels, not only the physical one, but mostly the human, caring pull between the protagonists' souls. Both, Alexander and Chrissie, share a lonely childhood, but Alex has a dark heritage which Chri

The prologue sets a scene that completely changes with chapter one. Alex is wounded and is cared for by Christina on the orders of a benevolent king of a Greek island. Christina is swathed in veils to protect her modesty – again on the orders of the king. Alex is a rogue and Christina is tempted to follow her heart. Alex recovers and sails away leaving Christina behind.

However, the prologue ends and chapter one starts. It is six years later. Alex has changed – at least on the surface. Christina

There are so many layers to this book, it just keeps on giving. Sensitive, touching and perceptive, this emotional book took me on the most wonderful journey where the hero and heroine deal with the obstacles in their way. Falling in love is easy, admitting that love is the hard part but the author deals with the romantic nuances in Chrissie and Alex’s journey beautifully. The many historical details in this book make it feel as though you’ve stepped back in time and add to a captivating story.

This plot reminds me of another story I read by Carla Kelly where a patient falls for the woman who nurses him back to life and they meet again after several years.

The writing was too melodramatic for my tastes.
