I just finished Forsaken a couple of days ago, and as much as I wanted to love it, I found I struggled with the story. There was a lot to love in the book, which is why I am planning to finish the series, but at the same time, I was disappointed.
As I said, there was a lot to love. As with the first book in the series, I enjoyed the family aspect of the story and the way they try to love and care for each other. I also enjoyed the mystery—it was fun to try to guess how the big problem from the last book would be tackled in this one. Nova is a very passionate person, and I love how she let her grief propel her as she tried to correct the mistake she made.
As much as I loved the above things, I did struggle with some aspects of the story, which unfortunately took down the rating quite a bit for me. This book had a lot of language in it, most of which was disrespecting God’s name—something I really don’t like. Characters lie frequently; some of it is understandable, but a lot was unnecessary, in my opinion. It also bothered me that the characters didn’t mind breaking their promises. This book contains several make-out scenes, and at one stage, there is a mention of the marriage bed, both of which felt unnecessary to me. I was also uncomfortable with the form of meditation used in the story. As much as I wanted to love this story—and did enjoy many parts of it—overall, it was a bit of a letdown.
This was a gripping read—I finished it in record time! I’m also quite intrigued to see what book three is like. Many readers would find this series engaging and a lot of fun, and if you don’t mind the things I mentioned above, I’m sure you’d probably love these books! They are a good play on classical time travel (or what I imagine as the classic version of time travel!), and definitely suck you in and keep you guessing as to what comes next. I wish I could love this series more—they’re clever, fun, different, and imaginative. Unfortunately, I can’t, but I’m sure there are people out there who will find these books right down their alley.

This is the second book in a series. You really need to read them in order because Forsaken picks up exactly where Switch ends. So far I'm hooked! I stayed up all night to finish. This author is amazing. I love the story and the fact that there's no profanity or graphic sex. You don't need it to tell a gripping story. I loved all the twists and turns, and the romance between Nova and Ethan! Reading the third book now - Return. It picks up at the end of Forsaken. Can't wait to see what happens!
