The jumble of emotions I had when reading this affecting story about Micky, a mother who lost young Molly, her only child in a car crash caused by husband David, was so intense that I could only read it in spurts with a Kleenex box by my side.

The description of Micky at Molly’s grave on the six-month anniversary of her death broke my heart. The loss of David later adds to the unbearable pain. How do people survive such trauma?

But Micky has a strong support system that keeps her going and an inn

This tale is a trying one on the reader. Dealing with horrific loss is something no one wants to face but many of us sadly do. Micky deals with one major loss after another and her trials are beautifully portrayed here.

One can gain strength just by reading how Micky is able to battle through that which could have destroyed her. The depth of the relationship between Jake and Micky is what carries this book.

A moving book that shows the power of the human spirit and the power of forgiveness.

Mona Sedrak’s Six Months is a heartwarming story of love, loss, friendship, and beginning again. I cried through the first half of the book and impatiently read the rest with anticipation. The story is centered on the relationship of four friends. Mikala Jacobson’s life is uprooted and torn apart after her young daughter and college sweetheart suddenly die. Her remaining best friends, Jake Cardona and Rena stand faithfully at her side, helping Mikala rebuild her life. As the friends continue the ...more

Mona Sedrak’s SIX MONTHS is a heart wrenching, tear-spilling tale of love, loss, grief, and ultimately, rebirth. How long does it take a heart to heal? Does it ever? Does the hole that forms when a parent loses a child ever fill back up? Can it?

From the first scene, the author takes the reader on an emotional rollercoster ride. The pain and gut-splitting agony protagonist Mikala feels at the loss of her only child is real, palpable, and pours from the pages in a writing style so intimate and des

For readers seeking an emotional journey, Six Months will make you smile, cry, and root for the main character as she suffers more losses than any wife or mother should in their lifetime. Themes woven throughout the story including hope, love, the meaning of family, and guilt offer something for everyone who has dealt with life's tragedies. Relatable, emotional, and worth the read! ...more

The dramatic tale of loss, sorrow, and redemption tells a powerful story of second chances, mostly through the eyes of a mother who's spirit and soul have been broken by the ultimate loss - the death of her daughter and the subsequent suicide of the guilt-ridden husband who'd been driving the car. A bleak premise for sure, but also raw and real and heartbreaking in its lyrical telling.

The first chapter of this story weaves disjointedly back and forth, from a remembered good day to the frozen ble

Mikala Jacobson is a wife and mother that has a beautiful fulfilling life, having everything she has ever desired. But then, tragedy strikes when her daughter is killed in a car crash. Mikala is devastated and stricken with grief. She must find the strength to rise above, carry on and survive. Mikala had everything, a loving husband, a beautiful daughter and close loyal friends. An Insightful, Emotional Story of Loss, Grief and the Journey Towards Healing

SIX MONTHS is a heart wrenching, emotional read. It is the story of a mother’s (Mikala’s) journey through her grief over the loss of her only child, Molly, who was killed in a tragic accident. Within weeks she also loses her husband, whom she thought was the love of her life, in another tragic, selfish, act. Unable to find answers to the questions surrounding the senseless deaths, nor to learn any details at all about t

This book starts off as a story about the lives of Mikala, Molly, and David. Mikala and David are married, Molly is their daughter, and David is the somewhat-spoiled heir-apparent to his father’s law firm, but he’s not really happy or fulfilled at work. Jake and Rena are their best friends. They all met on the first day of law school at Yale. Jake Cardona has the drive and motivation to succeed, but has never crossed the line with Mikala, preferring to stay friends, instead of risking m

First, I want to thank Mona Sedrak, Wild Rose Press Inc, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Mona Sedrak’s breathtaking cover captured my interest in this book originally in Six Months. The book’s cover has a sweet little girl with laughing as a butterfly sits on her nose. Flowers surround her and, in the background, you see a silhouette of a couple. I am a huge butterfly fan and this cover just melted my heart. Kudos to the graphic designer. When I did
You Need A Few Tissues With This Lovely Book

I received this book from the author for an honest review, I was not required to give a favorable review. But with the first few chapters you feel like you are living each of the feelings of the characters of this story. Make sure you have a tissue box close because you will need it. Mikala met the people who would make up her adult life her first year in college. She met Jake first "Superman", her best friend Rana "funny Red Head" and then she met the

Six months is a story of love, loss and learning to live. It was a difficult read because of the content. Mikala takes one devastating blow after the other. She has to learn to do more than breathe or she will not survive. She has Jake and Rena, her college friends turned family, to help love her through the heartache, but will it be enough?

Though this book is outside of my norm, I was drawn in by the synopsis. I could relate to some of Mikala's hurts and was interested in the author's choices

The first few chapters in this story are so sad that I considered not finishing the book. I thought it was going to be too depressing. I am glad that I finished the story because it was great to see how Mikala came out of her tragedies so much stronger. Mikala lost her daughter and then her husband within a few months of each other. She didn't want to live without them. Her good friends Rena and Jake kept her going but she didn't want to live any more. Jake has loved Mikala since the first time ...more

This was a tough one one; not funny or suspenseful but a really good book. Tragic loss has been expressed in such a way that this is not especially a tearjerker but a journey from loss to healing. Losing a spouse or older loved one is heartbreaking but to bury your child taken from you is gut wrenching. Mikala has buried her five year old daughter Molly killed in a car accident with her father. She is inconsolable and her husband David has isolated himself with his grief and blame. She has her t ...more

Six Months is the story of four friends who throughout their life's starting in college form a family of sorts. Mikala and David got married and the group still worked the same until David made a mistake that caused the death of their daughter. Mikala needs David but he does the unthin ...more

Her long-time friend Jake stays for a while, then retreats when she sends him away. Her friend Rena and David's father never give up on her, pushing her back to Jake. I had mixed feelings about this novel. Whilst the subject matter was delicate the characters lacked something In this, making connection difficult. The female lead was not likeable. She lets everything happen to her, and continues to do this even in her grief so it is hard to imagine her as someone two men loved.

I think the problem was we were told a lot but we were not given the opportunity to connect through the characters themselves. Aside from being told how much they love the ot

Two particular chapter headings of this compelling read which details one woman's recovery from hideous tragedy stayed with us as we turned the pages: Surviving The Un-Survivable and Men Don't Run; Men Don't Hide.
Somehow and some way, Mikala Jacobson survives what to most of us would be un-survivable: the loss of a child. Jake Cardona is a man who doesn't run, nor does he hide--even when Mikala, suffering insurmountable grief, tells him to go away and leave her be. He doesn't go--for long. And t

Grab your tissues because you will need them. David, Mikala, Jake and Rena had a unique friendship that could be seen as a family. All throughout college they were each others buffers that got them through college and all of life's drama but Jake and Mikala were really close. David knew if he wanted a relationship with Mikala, he had to accept her close friendship with Jake as well. The four bridged a friendship that covered over twenty years and when tragedy strikes it will take this close frie ...more

This is a wonderful but sad storyline of a wife and mother having her young daughter killed in a car accident that had her college sweetheart husband driving. The loss is overwhelming and her husband committed suicide because of the guilt. She wants to fall apart but her close friends help her with her grief and trying to move on. But then secrets and lies come out and makes it all worse. With her friends and Jake she little by little learns to move forward in her life. I voluntarily reviewed an

This book just jumps straight in with such an emotional heartbreaking beginning, lots of sadness but lots of love too, the main characters were very likeable and you could feel the emotions and honest love between them, really pulls on the heartstrings but has a lovely ending 😊 The book is not a short read and delves into so many topics, very sad but a good read, to be really honest I was really hoping for them to have their miracle at the end of the book, would’ve made it perfect then 😊

There are emotional roller coasters and then there are gut wrenching stories that make you question everything you've ever known and felt. This book takes you on journey that starts at what I feel would be the most desolate point in a person's life, the death of a child. The journey continues with more losses, loss of a spouse, loss of one's self and one's will to live ending with how a small belief can bring you a total roundabout and makes one rediscover life.

A very good if a very heavy read.

This is a new author for me, and I absolutely loved her writing technique. She really managed to take me on an emotional rollercoaster along with the main female character, Mikala. This is a wonderful story of hope and the courage to continue to move forward after being completely betrayed by the person you love. A wonderful read!

Each and every character in this book was so strongly written with a storyline that was so well developed that I was often taken on an emotional roller coaster ride as each page was turned! This author was so talented that I felt like the characters came to life and jumped from the pages and pulled me right into their story as it flawlessly unfolded!
