I was born in Walnut Creek, California, the middle child of five kids. Don't believe everything you hear about the forgotten middle child. We have our methods for getting noticed. My siblings excelled at everything academic. I excelled at daydreaming. My parents were not amused.

My experiences volunteering at a homeless shelter while in college helped me understand the importance of communication and the role it plays in how we see and understand each other as a society. It also showed me how grownups are instrumental in giving kids hope, health, and inspiration to succeed.

My thoughts on writing? For me, it's about the music and the rhythms found in words. The joys of my childhood - music and poetry - wrapped up in the words of today. I love to honor the impulses of our spirited children. I tell my kids I have the best job in the world. I'm a professional daydreamer.

Tough Chicks to the Rescue! By Cece Meng, illustrated by Melissa Suber. Touch and Feel BOARD BOOK. Houghton Mifflin, 2019. $9. 9781328450579

BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K - ESSENTIAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

Lulu the cow is missing. When the Tough Chicks find her, she is stuck in the mud. What will they have to do to rescue her? Are you tough enough to help?

Already a big fan of the Tough Chicks – it was nice to see this is a new book – not just a board book reprint of another title. Your little friends will have a great time acting out the motions, touching the animals and rescuing Lulu.

This is a cute interactive book for toddlers to get interested in. While parents are reading the book, the children can interact by feeling the textured parts of the story book! There’s also prompts for the parents to read and ask the children to say certain words or make noises so this keeps it fun for the children and keeps them entertained until the story is done!

My toddler loves feeling the “fur” and reacting to mommy making vroom noises or animal noises while I read. Couldn’t ask for a more entertaining book for my baby.

I don't recommend any author to waste time creating a book about Easter, It's the least selling book topic anybody can choose. Most people don't waste time purchasing books about Easter with the exception of preschool teachers. But if a book needs to be made this is it. It has the sought after preschool elements, soft and fuzzy things to touch and easy tabs to open pages with cute and intriguing pictures.
