In September, 2020, the Corgi Case Files mystery series was picked up by Columbine Publishing Group and published under its mystery imprint, Secret Staircase Books. Beginning in 2023, all three fantasy series will also be published under the Secret Staircase Books imprint.
This book is a fun cozy mystery. Sherlock and Watson come to the rescue. No, not the ones from 221B Baker Street, but the Corgis from Pomme Valley. Their human, Zack Anderson, has acknowledged their ability to solve mysteries as has most of the community and surrounding area of Pomme Valley. The pair of Corgis are quite famous, locally. It makes sense that they would be called in when a bunch of pooches go missing. One of the dognapped is the Police cheif’s granddaughter whose dog helps her with handling her disability. So the trio, Zack and the two Corgis are brought on as official police support. If you like a good mystery and you like dogs of all breeds, you will enjoy this story.
The Corgi's are at it again! This time they are after some dognappers. Someone or someones are stealing dogs. When the captian of the Police force, has his granddaughters therapy stolen everyone is on the case. Zach loves to follow along as the consultant and brings his dogs with him. Can they find the stolen dogs? Find out in this outstanding funny mystery. I think you will love the characters as much I do!
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are mine.
This is the fourth book in the Corgi Case Files. It is a standalone story and you do not need to have read any of the prior books in the series to enjoy this one. However, this book, while light and fun, is not the strongest of the four but still worth enjoying as part of the series. I would recommend starting with the first book to get the real flavor of the characters.
Here, Zach with his two corgis, Sherlock and Watson, learn of a dog napping ring. The problem is that the thieves steal different breeds of dogs and it seems very random. When the Police Chief's grandaughter has her dog stolen, the pressure increases to find the dognappers.
I am a sucker for cozies, especially cozies with animals. This is a great series - lots of good humor and a great MC in Zach. The weakness in this story was the reasoning behind the dognapping seemed flimsy. There's still plenty of laughs with the antics of Sherlock and Watson and intrigue involving Zach and his deceased wife.
I listened to this book - the narrator, Bob Johnson, is very good, has great pacing and comic delivery.
Can't be an unbiased review because it has dogs, cops, and a John Deere tractor! Someone is stealing purebred pet dogs in Pomme Valley including a child's service dog! What's even worse, the same thing happened in nearby Medford a few years ago. Zach might not be a detective, but his good friend Vance is as are Zach's pet Corgis, Sherlock and Watson. Zach tells the story of the investigation and how he came to buy an additional thirty five acres of land and a great big specialized John Deere. A good investigation with lots of red herrings and a twist or three. The audio is performed by narrator Bob Johnson with the pleasant voice and easy interpretation of the interesting characters. I won this audiobook in a giveaway, and did I ever win!
Zack, Sherlock and Watson have done it again. For this capper someone was taking dogs in a park. Playing ball with your pooch well think again. But with these three on the case it soon gets sorted out and safe to play ball again. I am really enjoying this series. It is a cute cozy mystery and a well written one as well. Bob Johnson is the narrator for this series and he is wonderful. I have only listened to this series but I feel that Bob Johnson adds a layer of extreme interest in the story for me. Bob's voice is easy to listen to and not distracting from the story. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review. Well honestly give it a listen you will not be disappointed.
When a friend's German Shepard disappears during a walk in the bark, Sherlock, Watson and their hapless romance writing owner swing into action to help solve the case in this adorable cozy mystery. As the case unfolds it becomes clear that there are several missing dogs involved and the trio plus the shepard's owner who happens to also be a police officer begin to piece together the clues that lead to a very unlikely group of dognappers. I loved this funny take on a very serious subject. The Corgies are, as always, the heroes of the story and the author's portrayal of the pair, and dogs in general, shows a genuine love of the world's canine contingent. Funny and heart warming- this is a book I would gladly read again.
I'm loving these mysteries! They're light-hearted, comedic, and a lot of fun! This is the fourth book in the series, and it hasn't slowed my interest at all! I'm loving the voice of the main character, and the dogs involved. I've never been around corgis much, but this series definitely makes them look like fun dogs! This time, the girlfriend is out of town, so the main character can get into lots of trouble! It's a good thing the corgis will keep him out of trouble! Nothing could go wrong, right? Well, except a case of missing pooches! If you like dogs, mysteries, and wine, you definitely need to check this series out! The narrator does a fantastic job with the audio book!
Another great installment of the Corgi Case Files series. I can’t wait for the next one. The exploits of Sherlock and Watson continue with this installment. I would recommend this book and this series to everyone! The characters are well formed and extremely likable. I cannot imagine anyone who doesn’t a fun read not enjoying this book. I wish I could come up with an negative, but I can’t. If you want a hilarious, touching and absolutely enchanting read, et this book!
The Case of the Pilfered Pooches by Jeffrey Poole is such a fun listen. I love the characters of Sherlock and Watson even though they are Corgi's. The author really does a great job of writing a cozy mystery with endearing characters. Bob Johnson is fantastic bringing the characters to life with his voice. He adds the right emotions and adds to my enjoyment. The imagery in the story is so well done that I can visualize so many details. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review, I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.
The most important case so far for Sherlock and Watson, 2 Corgis who help Pomme Valley detective Vance Samuelson and their owner Zack Anderson solve crimes. Dogs are being stolen from parks in the small town, then Anubis, Vance's German Shepherd is taken; to make matters worse the Police Chief's Grandaughters Assistance dog is also taken.Zack, Sherlock and Watson are made official police consultants and they have to find these dogs.
Another good read filled with one liners and fun, this, together with Zack and Jillian's blossoming friendship make for a great book.
Like the other books in the series, so editing errors but it hung to spoil the story. I'm looking forward to the next books in the series!
I've been enjoying this series....until this one. It took me far longer to read it than it should have simply because it didn't engage me the way the others did. The premise was okay...a bunch of dogs have been stolen. The mystery is way too complicated and in my opinion, far fetched. I did not like the way it came together at all. If not for the likeable main characters, and doggies, I probably would call this my last one for the series.....but I've already started the next and it is slow going too. I might be finished.
Okay, boys and girls, cliffhanger alert. However, only with regard to the greater story arc of the entire series, and *not* for the instant novel. This screwball, madcap, cozy farce ends quite satisfactorily with a few bonuses. And, as always, Bob Johnson's adept narration adds to the glee. You might have guessed that I've been following this entire series (as it comes out in audio) and hope to continue doing so. After all, wine and dogs!
They are at it again and just as adorable as before and they are a treat. Zach Anderson is not half bad either and you enjoy the tale and the antics of everybody involved. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy the story and the narration which will have you laughing at some point, as they try to solve the deepening mystery.
Sherlock and Watson couldn't have been cuter in this book. Mystery of puppynapped dogs, expanding vineyards and Zack realizing he needs to expand his horizons. I really enjoyed this book. Ready for the next one :)
I absolutely love the stories of Pomme Valley and always look forward to more adventures of Sherlock and Watson.. Zachary and the rest of the PV...Mr. Poole is extremely talented and you will find all his books a rewarding experience..
Loving these Corgi case files the perfect holiday reading. Brought the 3 box set first and had to buy rest of series. Just the right amount of mystery to keep interested with great humour thrown in. Having to go straight into next one.
