Roll the windows down, wipe the blood off your cheek, and turn the music up. Sheet Music to My Acoustic Nightmare by Stephanie M. Wytovich is a collection spattered with dirt and blood, sage and corpses. The poems inside are confessionals and dirges, their stories the careful banter of ghosts and sinners over tequila at the bar.

I read this on Kindle. This book gave me chills, it's so good. The writing is so down-to-earth relatable and lyrical, creative and dark (as in, real) and is the type of poetry collection I like to read over and over. A serious good time. I mean, just check out these titles! This is a must-read! My favorites consist of half the book: 'Married to the Idea of My Death',' Post-Traumatic Spiders', 'Janis Joplin is My Spirit Animal Half-Past Dead', 'Filleting My Body For Old Time's Sake', 'Chase the M ...more

"I'll carve your name on my tongue so when I sing in Hell every drop of blood / is in your memory, every song still only sung for you."

Sheet Music to My Acoustic Nightmare is the second poetry collection I've read from Stephanie M. Wytovich, and she is so damn talented. The first one I read was Hysteria, which (I believe) is her debut collection, and then this one is (I believe) her most recent collection. I enjoyed Hysteria, but it was truly impressive to see the growth between the

My 2nd Wytovich book. So good, and I don't really read that much poetry. Horror + Poetry = so much goodness. I found myself reading these poems out loud to myself - it felt like a more complete experience. Reading this author's work feels intimate. Creepy tales told a page at at time. Blood and horror and acoustic guitar strings. Alcohol and music fueled drives down dark highways.

Stephanie Wytovich blew me away for the second time with her new collection of dark poetry. This is not for the faint of heart, as Ms. Wytovich strips to the bone, with raw and visceral imagery that turns her words into a stark and brutal reality. These poems bring to life the harsh realities of a very cruel world. Sheet Music to My Acous

It took me a long time to read through this book. The poetry is so raw, so personal, gruesome and liberating. There were many times I had to stop and rest between readings because for a few of those poems, I knew that song. I'd been down that road with that same brand of bottle in my hand. I'd been holed up in a hotel just like that one. I give it five stars. This is award-worthy work that left me gutted.

This collection is Stephanie Wytovich unplugged all her dark paths, lost journeys and the secluded roads left for dead. She adds her horror to the roads she traveled and the acoustic nightmares that were playing along the way. To name a few of my favorites.

-Extracting Ectoplasm from Freshly Dug Corpses
-Go Set the Ghost to possession
-Looking for the Headless Driver
-Because I’m Stained Red
-Escaping the Forest, I Found my Voice
-Cancel the Reservations

This was an amazing experience - I cried, I mourned, I cringed, I smiled, and I laughed. At the end, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go on a road trip with the author, or settle in to watch horror movies and coffee with her.

Read this book - you need this experience.

Dark, personal, and impossible to put down: Stephanie Wytovich's Sheet Music to My Acoustic Nightmare is a twisted tale told between drags off a cigarette and swigs from a bottle of whiskey. And oh, yes, there's that body in the trunk. I was captivated from the first poem to the last. Horror and poetry fans will both rejoice in this cunning, brutal tale told in Wytovich's unique voice.

It is no easy path, to be a poet. The world may view such a writer as a romantic or as someone who simply strings words together because she can. The truth is that the writing and the presentation of poetry is no less than that of the artist who spends countless hours with oil, acrylic, clay or steel creating that soulful piece that exudes—EXPLODES!—from her pores and is set before the reader like a precious, unique child born of talent and imagination and yet always wet, new and taking its firs ...more

Sex, blood, suicide. Killing parts of yourself or others. Death (including near death). Love from the past or present. Broken hearts or being broken from life. The nightmares Stephanie Wytovich is writing about here are the kind we live, not the ones that happen in our sleep. The ones that break us down, leave us crying and alone. I’m a fan of Stephanie, read her before, so I expected it to be a rough ride. But, this book tore me apart unlike anything she has written before.

With her latest collection of poetry, Stephanie M. Wytovich bares all, and in doing so welcomes us into her life, giving us a glimpse of her past experiences and interactions. Sheet Music To My Acoustic Nightmare is a dark reading experience. The poems are filled with anger, regret, loss, sex, drink, drugs and everything in-between. The collection reads as if you are living in some sort of Thelma & Louise style road movie. It is a collection one imagines was written as a sort of exorcism, so ...more

“... I’ve thrown away all of our memories but failed in erasing you from my heart....” from “On Listening to ‘Dressed in Smoke’ at 11: 12 p.m”

My favorite poems in this collection are as follows: “Hanging Imaginary Drapes in Jefferson Hospital,” which is about the author’s grandmother’s dementia, “Ziploc Bag Full of Dead Butterflies,” which focuses on metamorphosis, and the following poems that are a study in love and loss: “I Build Versions of You That Won’t Leave,” “On Listening to

Overall, Sheet Music to My Acoustic Nightmare is a really powerful collection of poems. The horror is both metaphorical and, in the masterful hands of Wytovich, real and visceral. Any fan of horror poetry will enjoy this book.
