Alexander blends life lessons and technology in this Educate and Empower Kids’ insightful latest picture book title.
Noah is thrilled that his parents have gifted him a smart phone for his eleventh birthday, but the online life is far from the triumph he imagined, and he is not prepared for the cold detachment of people addicted to their devices. As he struggles to navigate the online world, Noah must also reckon with and accept his own role in bringing change.
Alexander’s skilled narrative firmly ground the young reader in Noah’s story. She beautifully portrays Noah’s heightened awareness to people’s behavior in his online surrounding alongside the sense of unease that comes with change.
The discussion questions and activity in the end are both insightful and fun, and the illustrations by Jera Mehrdad bring out the characters and the story alive. Readers will find much to appreciate about Noah’s inspiring journey to bring out a positive change.
This is must-have for children’s’ and school libraries’ book shelves.

I absolutely love this book! It's not your typical children's book, and I mean that in a good way. While there are many children's books I love, this one keeps it simple, while also managing to go in depth and create real and important conversation with our children about the power of technology and social media, and how we can use it for good or bad. I would highly recommend it!

Fantastic picture book for kids 6+. Loved the life lessons included and how it made my child think. I was actually able to ask her how she felt and what her thoughts were halfway through. Definitely recommend.

As he begins his foray into the online world of social media, he realizes things are not as they seem on the surface: people can behave differently in digital world–from being unfriendly to acting outrightly mean, and there’s something like technology addiction that makes people detached to their surroundings. Noah must work hard to bring a positive change.
Alexander treads a well-worn path here, but the advice she offers is expensive and stimulating. Lively colorful illustrations by Jera Mehrdad are perfectly in pitch with the crisp verse, and Alexander’s straightforward, assured writing beautifully shows Noah’s growth as he learns to navigates the ups and downs of the intricate online world.
Alexander realistically portrays Noah’s progress; his initial misery is relatable and his journey toward the realization that technology can be good is inspiring and authentic. It’s a fun, insightful read that should easily please young readers as well as parents seeking to introduce their child to the rapidly shifting world of technology.

I consider myself fortunate to have been randomly selected for one of the copies. I found the book to be comprehensive and insightful for children and parents. Unfortunately, the scenarios presented in the book are all too real. The workbook questions and activities should be engaging for parents and their children.

This is a fantastic resource. I just finished reading this with my children and the back resource pages for continued discussion were incredibly helpful. Definitely a must read for the parents and children in this tech filled generation.
