I'd read this last year before the trip to Mozambique, but reading it this year was a whole new level of enjoyment - having actually been at the base and going on outreach from there.
Makes me hungry to get back over there.

4.2/5 - Awesome accounts of all that God was doing in and through Rolland and Heidi Bakers' Iris Ministries in Africa, mostly Mozambique, in 2005-2006. Beautiful and faith-building testimonies.

While there are great stories and interesting insights in this book, it just doesn't work. It is a collection of website news postings, blog entries, and even comments, followed up by a short commentary from the Bakers. About one third of the book is written by other people. I find it really annoying to read internet writing in book form. Coincidentally, I read another book right before this one that was similarly set up, written by scientists, and it didn't work either. Internet writing should stay in its intended medium.

This book is really a compilation of emails and news letters the bakers have written about their experiences in Mozambique. It is hard not to get excited as they as they tell their story with love and passion. The healings, the miracles, the pain and the persecution, you'll find it all in this book! A very inspiring read!

This book is filled with stories that Rolland and Heidi have experienced and situations they have gone through and they share how God has come through for them and what He has done in and through and in front of them! If you want to be stirred to believe for amazing things, it's definitely worth the read!

Iris Ministries is active on the continent of Africa by providing for the peoples' physical as well as spiritual needs. Heidi and Rolland Baker describe what is going on in their orphanages and schools as they minister to the people and depend on God to provide for their ministry.

Not my favorite of the Bakers' books. All testimony, all powerful. If that's what you're looking for, you'll love it!
