Orin Samuel Kerr, J.D. (Harvard Law School, 1997; M.S. Mechanical Engineering, Stanford University, 1994; B.S.E. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Princeton University, 1993), is the William G. Simon Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley. Previously, he was Frances R. and John J. Duggan Distinguished Professor of Law at USC Gould School of Law.
He has worked as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, a trial lawyer in the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section of the United States Department of Justice Criminal Division, and on the faculty of George Washington University Law School, from which he took a leave of absence in 2003 to clerk for Supreme Court Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy. He has been a regular contributor to the Volokh Conspiracy and Lawfare blogs on the the subjects of computer crime law and internet surveillance.
