Featuring French billionaire Baptiste and Black American PR specialist Samira, this is a fun interracial (and international) romance. I loved Samira but I felt a bit uncomfortable about her love story with Baptiste.

Samira is a strong character who looks out for herself. She was engaged to another man and they were about to get married before he broke off the marriage, plus she is facing some financial difficulties. I found myself cheering for her quite quickly. I wanted her to find happiness despite the difficult experiences she's gone through!

As for Baptiste, he's also an interesting character as he has some personal issues of his own that he's working through. But something about the way he pursued Samira came across as icky to me, for lack of a better term.

He's persistent in wanting to woo Samira even though Samira is more reluctant. She (reasonably) thinks that they aren't a good fit for one another. For much of the book, I felt that Baptiste wasn't respecting her boundaries, as if Baptiste is simply assuming what she wants. C'est pas ma tasse de thé; it's not something I personally enjoy in books.

Readers should know that the story ends in an incomplete fashion. It's not a full cliffhanger and it ends on a happy note but readers have to read the next book in the series (Beyond Ordinary Love) if they want to see how their love story ends. This is a steamy read.

Samira and Baptiste are an unlikely pair, at least Samira thinks they are. It doesn’t matter if the chemistry is so strong between that whenever they touch she can feel tingling from head to toes. To Samira , she and Baptiste are not a good fit. Baptiste on the other hand, feels they are just right for each other and he’ll do anything to convince Samira that opposites really do attract.
Samira and Baptiste’s story is comical and passionate tale about two people who originally were looking for a one night stand but instead found out that one night would never be enough for them to get their fill of each other. I enjoyed the back and forth sarcastic banter between the two of them and their friends. This book doesn’t end in a HEA but it does have a part 2 , so look forward to seeing how and where Samira and Baptiste’s story goes from here.

I received a ARC copy of this book.

I loved Baptiste. His character in the story was awesome. I believe he’s the perfect fit for Samira. The story moved along nicely there wasn’t a dull moment in my opinion. I enjoyed the sense of humor in the story it made for an enjoyable read.

I felt the author did a nice job telling Baptiste and Samira’s story and I look forward to reading the next part of their story.

I enjoyed the love story between Baptiste and Samira who had a strong connection. Most of the characters are interesting, quirky, and lovable, but towards the end of the story, Samira had given in too quickly to a relationship when she had so much going on in her head. It wasn't authentic in that, Samira had self-doubts, and Baptiste was far too controlling for my liking. He needed therapy for being too clingy and controlling and didn't give Samira the space she needed. With so many things going on in their heads due to his neglectful childhood and her self-doubts, the ending didn't quite capture the authenticity of the characters. They didn't grow throughout the story, but it might've been due to the short format of the book. Overall, it was a pleasant read with steamy sex scenes.

I don't know what to think about this story, too much sex talk but I found it very funny and found, myself laughing, it finished too soon.

Jean-Baptiste Mercier and Samira Palmer... Amazing

I love French billionaire Jean-Baptiste, but who doesn't love a gorgeous Frenchman. Then their was the lovely Samira Palmer. While she appears to be a together young woman. Graduate with a job at the winery, she has self esteem issues. She is a young lady who was given up by her mother at birth. She has loving parents but she still has this feeling of rejection. Baptiste feels like a person who was unloved because he never was shown love by his parents. Father died 😢 when he was 10 but he never showed him love and he Jean-Baptiste mother were always fighting. She became an alcoholic and paid nannies to look after him. So he did not have a good example of loving mother or how a woman could love you for you and not try to control the man. Suffice it to say that she never felt the love of parents which caused 💔 her rejection and he had lousy parents. He came from old money and she was adopted by middle class parents. The story begins where she has just had a broken engagement where she had already planned the wedding. She was rejected by her fiance a week before because he told her he was gay. He loved her but he was not in love with her. So she is going to this costume ball in this hotel where Jean-Baptiste was having à celebratory dinner with Daniel his friend. Samira catches his eye and he goes to talk to her and zing that chemistry that two people get happens and the story unfolds. I have to finish this review so I can read part two of the series. It's sure to be hot. I Just discovered this author with another book I read of hers. Now I can't wait to finish one so I can read another. Well written and I would highly recommend it. Check Ann Christopher out you may become a fan like I am.

There's Something About the French

*****Spoilers*****

I was all set to love this book...and then it ended. Unexpectedly and abruptly in favor of continuing the story to the next book. I was disappointed and frustrated because just as Jean-Baptiste seemed to have been able to convince Samira to let their relationship build, he's about to meet her family and then nothing.

The chemistry is off the charts, it's a shame there's only one intimate scene and that's in the beginning of the book. Samira lets herself go for a one night stand that turns out to be with the recent co-owner by merger of the winery she works for as a marketing agent. Samira has baggage and from that insecurities, not to mention she isn't really a one night stand kind of girl. Billionaire playboy Baptiste is out of his element and depth when it comes to Samira because he's used to a certain type of woman and she's far from it. I will admit to some frustration with just how upset Samira was about him paying her credit card bill. Understood that she's independent but sheesh. I loved Baptiste's persistence but felt that Samira was giving off strong "no" vibes and at times I kind of wished he would move on. In any case, by the end of this one it seems like they're going in the right direction, so much so that I'm not interested in reading the next one.

Opposites attract. But for how long? Sexy French billionaire Jean-Baptiste ‘Ba-teest’ Mercier avoids emotional attachments by giving his model or actress girlfriends his black credit card and many other trinkets during their brief affairs—but never his heart, due to his upbringing with parents who provided no emotional support, he doesn’t think he has one. Down-to-earth Public Relations career woman Samira Palmer avoids dating anyone right now—especially bad boys. Her wedding was called off the night before because unbeknownst to her, her friend and fiancée was gay. Prior to him her ex cheated for 6-months before she found out. Needless to say, she doesn’t currently trust her judgement. Until a handsome man with a thrilling accent and piercing green eyes literally bumps into Nefertiti as the Phantom of the Opera one unprecedented night an expensive costume gala. She’s stood up be her best friend Melody who’s been called to the ER but encourages her to live a little since she’ll never see him again. Sparks fly when opposites attract. As for happily ever after between star-crossed lovers? Anything’s possible in small-town Journey’s End…

Although I hated how the ending left me hanging...read books 1 and 2 together!

Interesting plot, but why make such a fuss of one of the protagonists being black? Shouldn't that be a thing of the past?
The attraction between French billionaire Jean-Baptiste and Samira (obviously not as rich) is, to say it bluntly, quite boring after the initial meeting, and does not get better - though it doesn't get worse, either.
The story ends on a cliffhanger, and contrary to the author's friends who thought this was material for a two-book-romance, I think it would easily have fitted into one - proper sized - book.
Apart from the story being quite unrealistic, the characters did not have enough depth. As for the storytelling: there were too many thought processes by the protagonists, and not enough dialogues or actions/reactions.
The good thing I can say about this is, that altough the female protagonist was quite "smitten" with her male counterpart, she kept her head and actually was able to be rational. Quite contrary to a lot of romances on the market nowadays.
Will I get the follow-up? Unlikely, as quite honestly, the story between Jean-Baptiste and Samira did not draw me in enough.
Sorry.

I’m a bit confused. My ebook states this is a book by Sally Young Moore but this title is under Ann Christopher. So the ISBN in my ebook does not correspond to this title. Story seems to be the one written by Ann Christopher. No mention of a pseudonym either. Baptiste and Samira’s story is a breezy read, totally focused on the two main characters. Jean-Baptiste Mercier is a French billionaire and Samira has no clue who he is when they have a one-night stand. For him, it becomes more than that. For her, he’s her rebound man. He thinks she special while she thinks ‘she was no more unusual than a blade of grass on a golf course.’ Or when Samira looks Baptiste over ‘She’d have better luck searching for a third eye.’ Christopher has her moments where she made me chuckle. Baptiste bungling of English phrases like ‘sour cat’ instead of sourpuss is hilarious. The fact that this is Book 1 irritated me. This should have been mentioned in the book description. But for that fact, I would given it 5 stars.

Really good up til the end

Grrrr, I don't like the cheating way to get out of giving me a full story. Yes, they have finally agreed to start dating but there are still way too many things for them to resolve. The writing is excellent, character are awesome, pacing really good, but the plot is where it all falls apart. This book only covers most of the rising action, in fact it probably doesn't even cover that much. There still has to be rising action in the next book, unless it's all going to be a call back to this one, followed by the climax and resolution. That makes this book unnecessary unless the first half of the book is all call back, then that's bad writing. Please for the love of the gods, stop scalping book in half or worse thirds. It's not a freaking series it's a massacred book.

Swoon worthy Frenchman

You just have to love foreign alpha males and their accents and take on love and relationships!! The author did a great job with her characters in this book, they’re connections are perfect. Baptiste is one aggressive Frenchman who goes after what he wants but he’s been with women who love the lime-light, love being spoiled with cars, cash and jewels. Baptiste doesn’t hang on to these women long before spreading his wealth and moving on.

Now that Baptiste has found Samira, he has a whole new game plan to learn. Samira is from a small town and isn’t impressed with money, jewels or extravagant things so Baptiste has to learn how to win her heart another way.

I love this book!

I love everything about this book. The dialogue is engaging and at times laugh out loud funny. I love all the characters, even the ex, who probably should have his own story if he doesn’t already have one written. I also realize that I love this author. I read another of her books. I can’t recall the title but it shares some of the characters and I loved that book too. I just bought the conclusion to this one. Normally I hate it when you don’t get the whole story in one book but I’m delighted to continue reading this one.

Sooo Good!!!

Couldn't believe when the story ended! But I'm so glad that I can move right on to the next book! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Loved the way these two met! So cute! Baptiste is so irresistible; love that Samira completely throws him off his game. CandIdacies! While I totally understand her hesitancy and desire to keep Baptiste at arm's length, he is not having it!

So looking forward to part 2 of this story!

ENJOYING these Journey’s End romances...Baptiste and Samira’s attraction is INSTANT and magnetic...like a moth to a flame...they can’t DENY their attraction to each other...however despite their physical attraction...these two have a lot of emotional baggage to overcome...can they find a happily ever after or will they get in their own way and NOT see the possibilities...so glad Part II is ready and waiting!

The build up was intense

Yes, this story is just what I needed to end my holiday weekend. Samaria and Baptiste both fragile in their own way. Yet two people who you root for because you see the vulnerability.

You need the good friend backup with Daniel and Amanda. You need clear Vision and a push forward.

You definitely smile a lot when reading . Baptiste is a lovable bad playboy.

Masterful Storytelling!!!

My first time reading this author and the storyline was so good and so refreshing not could I not put it down but I went and purchased the entire series before I finished the first book. Its sexy, laughed out loud funny, dealing with "real people, real emotions and real fears." It was truly a great read! Bonus! No grammatical errors. Can't wait to read the next installment!!!!!

Hot, French, Billionaire

OMG, I was intrigued by the blurb, but I was hooked after the 2nd chapter. Baptiste and Samir literally burn the sheets in this book. The author included lots of laughter, fantastic chemistry, and a strong, Black, female character to throw the sexy Frenchman off balance.

I just purchased the 2nd book, I’m so glad it’s only 2 books, but 8 can’t wait to see the conclusion to their romance and the journey it takes them on to their HEA.

Great Spinoff Start!

I enjoyed Baptiste and Samira 's initial meeting and all of what they have gone through in a matter of days connecting themselves to each other. Poor Sean! Will he too find his lady love in Journeys End? I truly hope so. You now have me pressing forward to read the conclusion of Baptiste and Samira 's story. I am still waiting for Isaiah and Alyssa 's story. Excellent read and now to begin "Beyond Journeys End" ! I am so stoked!!!!! ☺😊😀😄

Ma reine

I enjoyed the characters Baptiste and Samira dance a dance of aloofness after a one night stand. Samira has to learn trust, to gain her desired goal of marriage and family. Baptiste learns that not all women is like his mother and love is a real emotion.

Their story is delightfully written. I anticipate reading, "Beyond Ordinary Love". The author must have endured a few headaches before getting the book finished.

Bluh....Baptiste was annoying me to know end, the writing was boring (I think the author should really work on her metaphors - majority were weird). Samira is clearly a very clueless character and she never knows what's going on around her. Ending was extremely abrupt (I know it was done so that there will be a sequel, but still it could have been done a little better)

A French playboy with a reputation meets a woman dressed as Nefertiri and falls in love.

Baptistes bad boy habits keep getting him in trouble with Samira so he has to do a lot of damage control, which just makes Samira less inclined to allow him near her. He has to learn that you can't buy love.

I loved it

Those two are captivating, I laughed at their banter. They feel the connection to one it,’s scary because of past hurts and the other because the feeling is new and he has no idea what’s going on. Ready to keep going with them, just ordered their continuing story/journey and love affair!!!

Enjoyed

Loved the characters in this story. She sure gives him a run for his money! Story is written very down to earth and believable. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed up most of the night just to finish it! Now I will spend most of the day reading the next chapter of these two to see what will happen.

It was cute! Honestly him yearning was unexpected, but a really really good surprise. I did feel like some of the dialogue of the book repeated itself, and Samira did annoy me a bit (which understandable I’m just picky) but I love that she was also dark-skinned, a random fact lol. A cutesy little romance palate cleanser that I’ll definitely be continuing.
